Riu Dunamar

For starters, the food for this all inclusive “resort” was sub par. None of the restaurants offered anything of quality. Anything baked was stale, you could tell that much of the “fresh” food such as fruit and vegetables had been sitting out for a long time. Don’t even bother trying to order steak because they will either overcook it or not cook it at all. The reception was meh at best and dismissive at worst. The shower head was broken, and one of our sinks wouldn’t drain. The beds were uncomfortable, I found a used band aid in my bed as well. Gross! There is a lightly frosted glass between the shower and the sleeping quarters, which provided zero privacy, even in rooms with two beds. I will say, all of the bartenders were awesome and very engaging, some even going so far as to remember your name. Sadly, requests for services to the room were rarely granted, or half assed at best, such as not getting the blankets or towels we asked for. We booked a photography session for our second day and the photographer did not do very well. Only a handful of the photos were worth the high price. The nightly shows were ok. The only good one was the rock show we saw on our last night which, admittedly was really good. I wouldn’t say it was worth the sacrifice of comfort and a relaxing vacation. I’m not one to complain about the places I go, but this experience really left a sour taste in my mouth. If you insist on going to a Riu hotel, I would highly recommend avoiding the Riudun. They market it as a sister hotel but it’s very clearly the redheaded stepchild of the bunch, and you aren’t able to visit any of the nicer locations. Along with that, this hotel is very far from all the things that make Cancún what it is. If all you want is a beach and infinite bottom shelf alcohol, this is the place for you.

Great service amazing workers always happy, very friendly and always helpful even with the language barrier still get the task done. Amazing atmosphere!!!

This Riu hotel is excellent. I have many allergies and they took care of me with so much attention. The rooms were clean, the pools were amazing and the services was excellent. The beach had been washed up, and there was a lot of seaweed even though it was cleaned each and every morning.

The hotel is good but some things are lacking. We went to the steakhouse and was surprised that it was more outdoors. The flies kept us from enjoying the meal. The buffet was not bad but not good either. Most of the food is prepared in advance and tended to be rather unappitizing . The specialty restaurants were better for quality but service was sometimes rushed. I found the bars were alright but when I asked for a Grand Marnier I was advised that it was not available. Our room was clean and spacious. We had a great view but we were right over the nightly stage. The pools were beautiful and the bar service was good. Going back to the specialty restaurants were went twice to Pompeii and the Kulumarium. The food was good. Will I be back? Probably not. I think there's bigger and better out there.

Very clean resort and friendly staff. When needing something for room we're quick to respond. Food was excellent with lots of variety.
