Riu Palace Costa Mujeres

I need to state that these gentlemen in the buffet are fantastic and need a raise and recognition!! Martinez, Abdiel, Eric, and Alfred these guys work their butt off!! They are so kind and recognize you when you come back even several months later. I have never met gentleman that worked so hard and were so good at their jobs they were right on top of everything all the time! They definitely deserve to be recognized! Our room cleaners were fantastic as well! And the individual who restocked our supplies in the room was fantastic as well! We have been to this resort six times already and we never have an issue. I will say that I do miss seeing the kitty, I know she is still around since we did ask at the desk if she was still around. Apparently, she likes to come back and forth between resorts. We are heading back here again in December of 2026. It is a nice retreat from our busy life here in Canada.

We are here now and so far we are impressed. The hotel is clean and staff are all friendly and will help you with everything. I’ve gone to Royalton twice and not happy with their food. Here all the restaurants were really good specially the steak and enormous lobster tail. Buffet differs daily and each time food is warm, with lots of good selection. Seaweed is a pain in Cancún but they do a great job raking it up with a tractor. There’s plenty of beach chairs and pool chairs. It’s pretty spread out so one pool doesn’t seem like a sardine can. The only suggestion is to have more activities in case of a rainy day. I feel like there could be more options for bored little kids and parents would probably like a nice spa day that was more affordable. Other than that we would definitely check out the hotel brand when we travel.

Great value. Family friendly atmosphere while also adulting. Food was much better than most of the reviews I read. My wife has some food allergies and staff were very responsive and respectful of this. She didn’t get sick once! Big shout to the hard working and accommodating staff.

Our one week stay at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres was wonderful. The resort is big, nice, and extremely clean. Personnel were nice and willing, most of the times, to accommodate our needs. Food at the main buffet extremely good, lots of options to choose from, lots of seats inside and outside on the terrace facing the ocean/beach. A-la-carte restaurants were disappointing, especially the Mexican, really bad. Italian and Gourmet not too bad. We tried to get to Stake House and Asian, but it was busy everytime, waiting time exceeded one hour, or you had to be in lineup half an hour before opening, and no option for reservation. We requested a quiet room at lower floor, and we got a smelly room somewhere in the basement. We asked for a room change and we received the room right above the theatre - so much for quiet room request 🤢. Beach is great, lots of chaise longs, but in the first few days, we still had to go around 9 am to reserve seats in the shade. Sand is nice but deep, hard to walk long distance. There is a wooden ramp from the pool to the beach, but only at main exit. Additional ramps would be nice to have. Water is kind of rough, big waves every day. Sargassum was moderate which is normal for March, but they were cleaning daily whatever was on shore. People serving drinks on the beach were amazing - Moise, Enrique, and Chris kept us hydrated and happy 😊. I also want to mention Noemi at Tastes main buffet, who was extremely nice and professional 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Negatives now: Not enough toilets on the premises. For such a big resort the design did not include any toilet for the beach. The closest one was at the pool, and it was always a lineup. Also, Wi-Fi on the beach very weak, almost non-existent. All in all, it was a good vacation, and we enjoyed the premises, the people and the good weather!

Had a wonderful vacation at Riu Palace, Costa Mujeres, (3rd time at this resort). Booked a private transfer back to airport, paid $35 to Sunwing rep through Nexus. Waited 2 hours, did not show up despite numerous calls! Hotel employee kindly called a cab for us and we just made our flight! Were reimbursed after a lot of conversation of the $87 US we had to pay cab at the airport. So stressful as we almost missed our flight. Would not recommend Nexus "private transfer" to airport but use bus provided in future! We were told that Nexus would not refund money we paid to rep after calling them when we got home. This was the only mishap, otherwise hotel, food, entertainment, pool, service, beach and especially hot stone massage at spa was amazing! Resort was spotless, especially the bathrooms. Lots of kids when we went so a bit noisy at breakfast. Atmosphere was wonderful.
