Riu Palace Costa Mujeres

Really nice hotel Arrival, as always with RIU flawless , key ready straight to our room , our cases turned up soon after. Room, standard RIU Palace room, if you've been in one they're all the same , thank god. Pools, standard sqaureish type pools that are only cold in the morning, no problem with beds , lots of shade , water park ok , adult only/bar pool looks like it could bleach your swimwear if you stay to long, which lots of adults do, but never a problem. Beach, very nice very shallow water , some seaweed, or whatever they call it, but never a problem, loads of beds some in shade of palm trees, sometimes. Food, buffet good, al a carte good, never had a problem with food at RIU hotels. Entertainment team, only bother you if you show interest, which is appreciated, evening entertainment is usually good, dont take it too seriously as its not Broadway or the West End but Mickey Jackson is worth seeing. White party is great but loud and sweaty, we lasted 20 minutes, but we tried. The complex is massive but it really is out of the way and nothing is close , not even a shop, but you have everything at your finger tips so no need to leave. Finally staff, never had a problem with any of the staff at any of the Rui's, even when my daughter was injured and taken to the hospital they were tripping over themselves to help.

Currently at the hotel and it’s nearly impossible to get drinks unless you are from Mexico or South American and speak Spanish. They completely ignore you and serve others ahead of you. Do not recommend coming here. I’ve been to Mexico many times, other areas of the Caribbean as well as other Riu’s. Never had this experience before.

I had a lot of fun here, beautiful location and tons of things to do, but by far the best part about this place is the service. the staff are incredibly friendly and you'll feel like lifetime buddies after just a day. specifically the two Jose's that bartend square garden at night they are so friendly and fun and I absolutely loved them, we had some wonderful conversations and it made my day that they recognized me as the canadian vodka girl on their way out! haha they were so incredibly kind and fun to be around!! im sad to say goodbye as I end my stay, but I hope they know they were so appreciated. give them all your money ❤

The rooms and service is fine but the food from the restaurants arent anything special and the portions are small. Also the way you get access to to the wifi is weird because half the time the website wouldnt work and once i put in my password it would just delete it and i couldnt even press the login button again.

I have stayed at many Riu properties in the past. This is by far the worst of them. The good, It was a nice resort and clean. Food was good, both buffet and restaurants. Not good, Service was completely substandard for México. Check in was ok. Buffet, they serve you once and you don’t see them again. If you go in there later hours of the buffet, they do not test the tables and they ignore you. You are walking around looking for cutlery and drinks. The bars, you wait patiently for your turn and then Mexican people come up and they ignore you and bypass you and serve them. There is way to much favouring their own when others are waiting patiently. Service in the room, I paid extra for the Elite Club. You felt totally like an inconvenience. They were dismissive and rude. The pools were nice, however July was a stupid time of year to go. It was for a wedding. The heat was unbearable and the water temp was in the 90’s. That is not the resorts fault. What is the resorts fault, is very little to no shade areas. None on the beach. I took an umbrella to the beach cause there was a new born in the area. Was almost a brawl when they tried to take it away. Kids programs were terrible. I don’t have children, but don’t target families and have nothing for them. Pool grill Pepi’s has great food, however in this heat you can’t get food and go to an air conditioned area, they will kick you out and say you can’t eat there. Your room or the heat, you only options. I have shears liked Mexico mainly for great service, and I always like Riu hotels. However will definitely never come back here.
