Riu Palace Las Americas

BEWARE! If you book your room and flight on Riu.com it will direct you to a page also labeled Riu giving you the feeling you are booking all through Riu. This is false. It directs you to a "white label" page with all of the Riu information, but it is Expedia. No where does it say Expedia. This is an arrangement Riu has with expedia to boost customer confidence in the purchase because it looks like it is all Riu. .The reason you should beware is, you do not get all of the Riu privileges like free airport transport that you would get if you book your hotel only, through Riu. When partnering with hotel customer service and management, I hade them pull up the website and a customer service rep said "it looks like a scam", and the supervisor Irving admitted it was misleading. They did nothing to rectify transportation to the airport.

We go to Cancun 3-5 times a year as a couple and family . We have been going for 14 years together We have stayed at all the luxury hotels in town . Pros Riu balances luxury with no charges on cabana’s /umbrellas/ lounge access -nice touch .Most others charge for these amenities ! No extras ! Swim up bar Very important ! Love the atmosphere . Tip the bartenders the minute you get in the water . 10-20$ gets you served first all day No reservations for restaurants Krystal is a 3-4 star solid restaurant . We ate at the Buffett every other time and there was plenty of food choices and you will not be hurting for choices Pool Clean /Attractive /High end -fun Rooms that have clinches and jr suites are great Close to shopping /oxxo/ easy access to missing items Riu parties for any Riu guests -new this year to us and fun /safe ! Cons Beds are hard . Be prepared for some soreness ! Fans above you in bed creak and can be annoying - but to have fans is a must Overall a very pleasant experience balancing high med with no charges for cabanas /extras/24 food lounges

This is our 5th stay at a RIU Palace. We had paid for a sea view suite. Finally had two available on the 1st and 4th floor. I requested 4th. For a suite, I was very disappointed! It was a jr suite with half a room attached and not even a good sea view. We never spent any time in the half room. Pools were nice and food was usual RIU quality but service is down from our previous stays. This appears to be an older RIU and the water filtration system isn't good. Thank goodness they provided plenty of bottled water. I wouldn't drink anything our of the faucets which I've never had a problem with in Cancun. It smelled!! I probably wouldn't stay here again but, the other couple we traveled with and my wife really liked it, mostly because of the calmer water.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas for our anniversary, and we had a wonderful experience overall. Check-in was welcoming, friendly, and very simple. We decided to pay for an upgrade to a sea view room, and it was absolutely worth it — the view was fantastic. I know some people describe the rooms as dated, but personally I found them very clean, well-equipped, and full of charm. One small observation would be that the shower could probably be maintained a little better, although it worked perfectly adequately throughout our stay. The bed was quite firm, which I know will suit many guests, although it was slightly too hard for my personal preference. The fridge in the room was kept well stocked throughout the holiday, which was a nice touch. The lobby area is stunning, with plenty of seating available. One thing we did notice was that some guests seemed happy to walk straight through the lobby after leaving the pool, which understandably made the floors slippery at times. This certainly isn’t the hotel’s fault — people just need to be a little more considerate. The staff were constantly cleaning and mopping the floors, which was appreciated. The buffet food was excellent with plenty of choice and everything cooked well. The speciality restaurants naturally have a more limited menu, but that’s to be expected. Out of those, I think the steakhouse was our favourite. We did tip generously during our stay, but that was entirely our choice and never felt expected. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, hardworking, and wonderful. To sum up, this hotel is definitely worth visiting. We had a fantastic stay and, if we return to Cancún, we would happily stay here again.

For us, this resort just checks every box. If you’re looking for a hassle-free all-inclusive resort, this is it. Excellent location on the north side, with smooth ocean, beautiful turquoise water, and no seaweed. Delicious food and drinks the whole time without exception, and no reservations needed at the restaurants. We ate between 6-7:30 each night, never had to wait, just walked right in (but we were told to get to the steakhouse at 6 because they fill up and stop taking names earlier than the other restaurants). Ease in finding pool or beach chairs. But the service and friendliness of the staff stands out above everything else. I wish I could name every member of the staff that contributed to this being an outstanding trip. I watched Jimmy the pool bartender happily take great care of everybody day after day. Isai at the lunch buffet would not let me run low on Dos Equis or Tajin. Finally, on our last night at the resort, we ate at Krystal and lucked out and had Hanniel and Isias as our servers. A delicious meal made even better by their attentive, gracious service. Thank you, Riu staff.
