Riu Palace Las Americas

We stayed at RIU Palace Las Américas for our honeymoon and had a very concerning experience. On the morning of checkout, around 11:26 AM (prior to the 12:00 PM checkout time), a staff member entered our room using a key card while the “Do Not Disturb” sign was clearly displayed and without knocking. My husband and I were undressed at the time, making this a serious breach of privacy. The hotel later acknowledged that their protocol is to knock before entering, meaning proper procedure was not followed. Because this protocol was disregarded, our trust was broken—we cannot feel confident that our room was not accessed at other times during our stay without our knowledge. We also experienced stained bed sheets upon arrival, which was disappointing. While a resolution was eventually offered after escalation, it did not feel appropriate given the severity of the situation and felt as though the breach of privacy was not taken seriously. We hope the resort improves its privacy protocols so future guests do not experience the same issue.

We paid a lot of money for this holiday and the thing that let us down 120% was a very very very damp room. They moved us the following day and the room was still damp. Would not go back there again would not advise anyone to have received view room because they seem to be the ones that had the problem.

This was our first time at an RIU and we will definitely be back to Las Americas. From the moment we arrived we were met by friendly staff beginning with Isaac checking us in. The hotel decorating is reflective of a traditional Caribbean style which was a nice change from the sleek white marble that hotels use today. The food was delicious and the breakfast buffet incredible with a variety of entrees, fruits, yogurts and breads. They have foods at various locations throughout the room so, for example, not everyone makes a long line for the bacon. Francisco was professional and charming while making sure everyone had what they wanted. The a la carte restaurants were on the smaller side and had a more intimate feeling. No need for reservations because if the restaurant is full, you receive a beeper with a suggestion of the wait time. Each restaurant had its own charming decor reflective of its name and the service was personalized and professional. Servers rotate restaurants and we were pleased to have Ismaal at the Krystal and Italian. We had an ocean view room that was large and well maintained by Martin. Always had the room stocked with towels, toiletries and was cleaned well. We could see the beach from our room and we did not see a lot of early morning chair grabbers. At 11:00 there were still quite a few lounges available. Everyone was so friendly including the staff and other guests.

Been to many 5* hotels but must say this hotel is the best one to date! Sadly leaving tomorrow however I will definitely be returning! I truly can’t say one thing negative about this hotel! Food,Service, employees, especially JUAN ( pool waiter) he works diligently hard! Never stops, make sure everyone has a drink in hand! And also extremely polite and pleasant! I would recommend this hotel to everyone headed to Mexico!! Guaranteed not to be disappointed!!! Thanks for the awesome week amigos!😊 Danni

We absolutely loved this resort. Great staff, always cleaning, pools are really nice , food is good for resort food. We only ate at steakhouse and Italian restaurant both were good. Shows were good, would be nice if shows had a little more variety (maybe a magic show or something?). We had an ocean view on 4th floor....great view, room is a bit dated but had everything you needed and was quite comfortable. Would 100% go back to this resort based on overall experience.
