Riu Playacar

Much smaller resort. The late night food options were not good at all. The food was simply okay in the other buffets and restaurants. The staff seemed moody most of the time except the staff at the bars they were more friendly. Room service ladies always seemed upset and not approachable, buffet staff almost ignored you, we sat ourselves most days and had to get the staffs attention to order our coffees. I will say the beach was nice and the area the resort was in was also nice as there was a plaza right across. We still had a good time but staff did disappoint this time around.

We arrived at the hotel after a long flight and was soon put at ease by the surroundings on the approach to the hotel Check in was smooth & efficient with the offer of a welcome drink All amenities were explained & we made our way to our room near the pool Opposite the lunchtime restaurant Our room was spacious with everything we needed optics & an abundance of soft drinks in the fridge which throughout our stay was topped up with bottles of water too The grounds were immaculate and all staff were pleasant and courteous Entertainment in the evening was average Daytime activities/entertainment were excellent live cooking stations/cocktails bought to your lounger what more could you ask for? The beach 🏖️ setting was stunning a little piece of paradise! Pool areas were also a much welcome cool contrast All meals were delicious with many different options available morning,noon & night We ventured into playa del carmen centre a couple of times & felt safe look out for the local vendors all selling their own products There’s also a vast variety of high end stores too if you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Mexico 🇲🇽 you can’t go wrong with a Riu ! And Playacar exceeded our expectations Hope to return in the near future what dreams are made of 🏖️☀️🍉🍹🥂

Only here 24 hours so far. The pot smoking is overwhelming from the watersports staff.

RUI stuff advice not to buy tours on a beach, instead buy it from “authorized” providers they have in a hotel. We did purchase almost a $1000 trip from their “authorized” provider and did not receive a service or money back. RIU stuff did nothing to help us and said they are not responsible for those guys. They allow them to sell you scam tours, they advice you to deal with them but when they scam you RIU will tell you they can’t help. Attaching photos of scammers and advice to all guests: pay with your credit card ONLY as your bank is the only one who will try to help you. RIU will do nothing to help you!

Just home after two weeks at Rui Playacar. It was a super two weeks with so much going on you needn’t get bored, there really was something for everyone. Staff are lovely from reception to gardeners & cleaners, every one smiled and responded to a ‘good morning’ in my broken Spanish. Entertainment team were encouraging you to join in but were never ‘pushy’ and if you said no, left you alone. The food, I found, was really good for all inclusive, from the self service to the a la cartes all food was well presented & well cooked. The rooms were stylish, comfortable & clean, my only gripe and quite petty really, that as a tea drinker there was no kettle or milk in rooms just a coffee machine, that’s purely a personal gripe as the bar staff at the 24 hour bar were quite happy to make me a tea early mornings after my morning walk as well as the waiters in the breakfast restaurant. The bar staff do a brilliant job, you look at the queue at the pool bar and think you will have to wait ages but they work so well and quickly that you soon get served. The whole complex was kept very clean and the gardens well kept. Evening entertainment was varied and everyone seemed to really enjoy the silent disco, it was great fun to watch. All in all a great resort and a lovely holiday.
