We are here at this moment, April 1,2026 to 11. Very nice hotel and amazing staff and service. Extremely clean hotel and very good food. The only problem here is when its bed time, we have had a few good nights of sleep. But very noisy at all hours, drunk clients making noise in the rooms almost every night! Its a shame because we loved our stay, but wouldn't come back because of the noisy clients.

Giving details of our experience. We have travelled to many Riu hotels around the world and obviously other resorts not part of the Riu chain, whilst we loved this holiday there were things I wish I had known prior to coming as a lot of the posts are positive without giving people the heads up. Rooms - following check in we were given a grainy map and our room number circled on it. It reminded me of a caravan holiday. I can't remember the last time we were not shown to our room on arrival. The rooms are in two story blocks with 8 rooms on each floor. To confuse people some are on the path and some are behind so after a long flight this can feel disoriented. We finally found our room and were really disappointed. It is like an 80s Spanish hotel. People report them being spacious, and whilst they are not small, compared to the other Riu hotels we have stayed in they are smaller and very dated. There is a bolt on the patio doors and the furniture had loose bottoms on the draws and I struggled to slide the wardrobe doors. The bedroom door would sometimes deadbolt itself whilst open meaning having to unlock it to shut the door. The shower is also not the best. The sound proofing is extremely poor, this caused many sleepless nights due to other guests coming and going and partying until 4/5/6 in the morning. There is not the array of toiletries normally found in a Riu but we don't use them so not an issue but if you come expecting them you will be disappointed. In the room there is a safe, brolly, iron, ironing board and a wall mounted hairdryer. There is a coffee machine which you can just put water through to make a cup of tea, they provide coffee. There are optics of non branded drinks (again a first of non branded for us in a Riu) and a fridge of beer and soft drinks. Restocking via the app is easy and quick and the rooms are cleaned to a good standard. However, we did have an issue with one of the sinks not draining and ended up with worm things in the sink, reported and fixed but I remain unsure if the worms were from the tap or the drain. Pool area - we spent a few days by the pool and these are not immaculate. The pool areas are not cleaned thoroughly. Also surprised the pools are not cleaned whilst closed, as they closed them during the day for cleaning. However, there are pools for all, there are plenty of beds but noticed in the second week they were reserved by 9am. There is a bar and snack bar in the centre serving all of the pools. A man walks around them with a trolley serving drinks and usually another with a note pad taking orders which is great but this is the only drinks waiter service outside of the restaurant. Again, this is very different to other Riu we have stayed in. The beach - spent more days here. The sand is beautiful. The seaweed was extremely bad on our first day and I was worried this would prevent me using the beach. However, that was the only day it was that bad. The hotel work tirelessly against this natural phenomenon which is relentless. There was always some because it's impossible to eradicate but doesn't spoil the experience and the sea is warm and great fun. The only downside of the beach is the lack of shade. It is provided by the palm trees and because shade is sought after, normal rules go out of the window and people squeeze in to share the shade ....... prepare to get cosy. Entertainment - it's from the start of the day to the end of the day. They work so hard. They even walk around the beach doing "lazy games" that you can do from your sunbed. The evening entertainment is hit and miss on the quality but there is always something going on. Food- we enjoyed the food. We tried all of the restaurants. Bamboo was our favourite. The black cow is popular. The main restaurant has a flavour of all. Drink - there are some branded drinks in the bar but you need to ask. A shout out to the sports bar who multitask on orders to an art. When the parties are hosting, extra bars are created. We liked the iced coffee, if you have been to other Riu you may know it as a 'dirty monkey'. Grounds- each hotel seems to have a different vibe, playa car seems quieter with more manicured gardens. Yucatan has more natural gardens with lively daytime entertaining. Riu, where we were, is definitely more natural in it's setting than manicured. Lots of trees and natural habitat for the wildlife. Overall, we loved our stay (room aside) Mexico has been a blast and I am glad we came, however, for what the holiday cost and how far we travelled, I will try somewhere new next time. If I was to return to Mexico would I come back to Tequila???? Who knows.

strongly advise future guests to avoid this hotel. After more than 24 hours of travel with my 3-year-old child (including trains, a long-haul flight, and transfer), we arrived late at the hotel expecting a smooth check-in. Instead, we were refused access to our room due to an internal booking discrepancy. Although my reservation clearly stated 2 adults and 1 child (3 years old), the hotel claimed it was for 2 adults and 1 baby, and demanded over €1000 in additional fees to let us access the room. We were left at reception for over 2.5 hours, exhausted and with a young child, trying to resolve the situation with both the hotel staff and Booking.com. This felt like an unacceptable pressure tactic, as we were essentially left with no choice. Eventually, the hotel allowed us to access the room only after we paid an additional €72 for the first night. However, the situation escalated again the next day: we were approached in a very unpleasant and aggressive manner and told that if we did not pay the remaining ~€1000 by 3:00 PM, we would be locked out of our room. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable for a hotel that claims to offer a certain standard of service. Instead of helping a tired family with a young child, the staff created stress, pressure, and ruined the start of our vacation. I am deeply disappointed by how this situation has been handled and would strongly recommend choosing another hotel.
