Riu Tequila

I can see there has been some very detailed reviews so I won’t repeat the same. The hotel is lovely, we found it very clean and the staff were all so friendly and efficient. The food and drink was exceptional for an all inclusive and the location was a very short walk from the beach and 150pesos to town in a cab. I know this is only my opinion but I think it should be shared that the Hotel was very noisy in the daytime and there was no escape from it. Although there are five pools they are all next to each other so the noise was quite intense. There are a lot of noisy activities and very loud music it felt like an 18-30 at times. If you do like a sleep by the pool forget it. I used the Yucatan they have the option of a quieter pool near the reception which was very nice. The Neon Party was good but the White Party was definitely the best. I do like a dance and let my hair down on a night but a bit of peace in the day but I understand people will disagree with this.

Just got back from a wonderful 2 weeks holiday staying at the Riu Tequila. This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and it just gets better and better every time . Check-in was fast and the room was ready upon our arrival. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds are well maintained. No need to worry about getting sun-beds as there are plenty of them covering 3 pools. The buffet restaurant food is varied every night and the food is always hot and well prepared. There are 3 other restaurants which you don’t have to book as they are on a first come first served basis. The staff are fantastic . A shoutout to Leidi who served us drinks by the pool and always remembered what drinks we liked. This hotel is very wheelchair accessible and we had no problem getting around the hotel. All the staff work extremely hard and are always very helpful. We will see you all again for Christmas.

Lovely resort, room spacious with comfy beds (don’t know why it was two doubles as opposed to a king sized), electronic safe, iron & ironing board, fridge stocked with canned drinks and filtered coffee maker (no kettle, creamers, milk or sugars). Pros - Great location in a gated community. Good for getting out for a run before it got hot - 30 min walk or $10 (US) taxi ride to Playa del Carmen’s 5th Avenue with lots of shops and restaurants. - Access to two other resorts (RIU Playacar and Yucatán), for entertainment and beach access. Cons - The internet was poor at times and kept dropping

On the plus side the hotel has been an interesting visit, the room we stayed in was beautiful, clean and had a well stocked mini bar(included in your stay).  The staff all work tirelessly. The grounds are well kept and a credit to the gardeners. The pool staff keep you well hydrated and the entertainment staff work very hard. Big thanks to Daniel who did most of the activities we joined in on.   Now the negative.... the food never seems to change from one day to the next in the main buffet restaurant, the italian and the steak house were a dreadful dining experience. Starters are set and then you choice your main, which was brought out while we were still eating the starters. The Asian (bamboo) restaurant was better, although was a buffet service. The swim up pool was a swamp of suncream and you can guess what else. The pool was closed twice during our stay as someone had either been sick or worse. We used one of the other two pools. But most of the time was at the sister hotel which was on the beach. There was however a large seaweed issue but at least thats nature

I came here in 2024 it was great, I met my friends from France here in 2026...its a very big difference from the first visit...Rooms are very dirty and the standards that once were are not anymore..will not be returning here to the cocroaches
