Riu Tequila

First time in Mexico, and the Tequila was recommend to us, had a magnificent stay, from start to finish, we had a good big room, with a super king bed, amazing, 4 different pools to choose from, and no sunbed wars, it was my husbands birthday and our anniversary while we were there, and our room was beautifully decorated for us on arrival, with a complimentary bottle of Tequila, so thank you!! Staff couldnt do enough for you, food was excellent in the main restaurant, and we tried the Italian too which was also nice. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and loved the little coatis roaming about, i also saw a racoon! Had an issue with some water coming from the ceiling and the shower, both were promptly delt with. The entertainment was fab, especially the neon, white night and silent disco, so much fun, could not fault this place, well worth a visit, we will definitely be back, and we can't wait!!

Our second stay at the Tequila Hotel, and once again it was an amazing holiday! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. We were greeted with balloons in our room, and every day the wonderful housekeeping team surprised us with a different towel animal or puppet, such a lovely touch that always made us smile. Every member of staff deserves recognition. The housekeeping team, bar staff, restaurant staff and servers were all friendly, hardworking and genuinely cared about making our stay special. It was so lovely that several members of the dinner team remembered us from our last visit and welcomed us back. Even the fantastic towel attendant by the pool remembered us (I’m so sorry I’ve forgotten your name!) & oh, the mini-shuttle driver & his rubber duck! 👏🏼 The managers were always visible, approachable. It’s clear they really care about their guests and their team. What really makes this hotel shine, though, is the incredible entertainment team. Their energy is relentless, in the best possible way! They work so hard from morning until night, yet they’re always smiling, kind, welcoming and full of enthusiasm. They create such a brilliant atmosphere and are a huge part of what makes this hotel so special. A special thank you to the main MC, Nolberto, whose warmth, charm and kindness towards our family was amazing. And a huge shout-out to Jacqueline and Daniel from the sports team. Joining in with the activities became one of the highlights of my day. Every session left me feeling relaxed, energised, connected and smiling. Both genuinely beautiful souls, amazing dancers (my dream) and I hope our paths cross again so we can share sports & dancing tips! If you’re looking for sunshine, fun, fantastic service and people who genuinely make you feel welcome, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more. And if you need a little peace, the beach is just a short stroll away. Watching the sunrise on a 6am run or during a morning yoga session is pure magic.

We’ve just returned from a two-week stay at Tequila with a family group of 20, ranging in age from 8 months to 70 years old. Before we travelled, I emailed the hotel to request adjoining rooms for my husband, son and me, along with rooms close to my niece’s family. They replied saying they would do their best, and on arrival they had managed to put us all next to each other in Block 23, which we really appreciated. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Block 23 is about a five-minute walk from the main reception, but we overlooked the trees so our balcony felt lovely and private. One thing to be aware of is the clear glass shower, which faces into the room. It wasn’t ideal if you like a bit of privacy, but we managed by propping my daughter’s lilo against the glass! The buffet restaurant was excellent, with plenty of choice to suit most tastes and dietary requirements. The waiting staff were fantastic throughout our stay – always friendly and attentive. A special mention to the waiting staff especially Felix and Rangel for their excellent service. The pool bar staff worked incredibly hard in the heat. They were understandably busy most of the time, but still remained friendly. Leydi, Juan and Leo deserve a special shout-out as they were all amazing. The entertainment team were brilliant. They seemed to work from morning until night, running activities during the day before performing in the evening shows. They all deserve credit for how hard they work. Gustavo was our favourite – hilarious, full of energy and with some impressive swivel hips! 🤣 We tried the Chinese, Italian and Mexican à la carte restaurants. The Chinese wasn’t my favourite, although I wasn’t feeling 100%, and everyone else in our group enjoyed it. The Italian was excellent, especially the steak. The Mexican had a beautiful beachfront setting, which is why we went back a second time. The steak wasn’t quite to my taste, but the enchiladas on our second visit were really good. I didn’t try the steak house but others in the group did and said it was nice. The pools were incredibly warm – more like a hot bath! We spent most of our time at the quieter pool at the back of the resort, which was lovely. The adults-only pool could get very busy and occasionally had an unpleasant smell, probably due to the heat and spilled drinks. We also enjoyed the foam party and aqua aerobics at the activity pool. The main bar was always busy. Some of the staff could have been a little friendlier, but they were clearly under a lot of pressure. The sports bar was great though – Diana, David and the rest of the team were always welcoming. The White Party and Neon Party were definitely highlights. They were great fun with an amazing atmosphere – more like a rave than your typical hotel entertainment! Overall, I’d rate this hotel 4.5/5. We had a fantastic family holiday, the staff worked incredibly hard, and there was plenty to enjoy. My only real negatives would be that some of the pool areas could have been cleaned a little more often, and I nearly got flattened by someone cutting the palm trees! 🤣 One final thing to mention is Mexico itself. We found it quite expensive, and outside the hotel it felt like tipping was expected everywhere, which can become a little frustrating on top of the already high prices. Would we return? Yes – especially with a big family group. The hotel has a great atmosphere, good food, and an amazing entertainment team that really helps make the holiday memorable.

Loved the entertainment and party nights led by Noelberto (top bloke) and the team. Loads of fun things going on like the neon and white party, coconut festival and weekly foam party in the pool. The fitness like stretch and aqua fit with Daniel and Jackie was great too.
