First time going all inclusive. The food choices were good and variety good. The staff were amazing, helpful and very welcoming. This particular RIU is outdated, a bit of a walk to beach (we had a bad knee in the group) the golf cart services were not every 10 minutes as the stated. Just a a tip, know that there are certain RIU areas you can’t be on at the beach. We were enjoying our day at the beach and were told we were in the wrong section of beach??? We moved but annoyed as we had been purchasing drinks from them.

This resort is amazing!!! I have been all over his part of Mexico at various locations and hands down this place has the best staff. Right from the lobby, buffet, bars to house keeping. Please look for our friend Polo or Rangel at the buffet(the food choice is extraordinary), best service anywhere in the world and treat you like royalty. Carlos at the Yucatan beach bar makes the BEST Singapore Slings. Our rooms were cleaned to perfection everyday, any issue we had was solved IMMEDIATELY by using the house keeping app. The only issue we had was the beds are only double size (king is 2 doubles pushed together) and they are hard, same goes for the pillows. I messaged house keeping for a mattress pad for our one bed in the room (we had 2 connecting rooms with four beds) they came within 15 minutes and put them on the bed!!! Booking here was very beneficial for us cost wise as we decided to take our four kids along this time, I think the price was cheaper because this hotel is not right on the beach which is not a big deal at all since we went to the RIU Yucatan which is less than a 10 min walk from Tequila. Anyone who complains about the walk is ridiculous as I need a full hip replacement and was able to do it twice a day. I had read a-lot of reviews that tequila was “the party resort” please don’t let this stop you from booking If “parting” isn’t your thing. I’m not a party person at all, 48 yrs old but act more like a old Grandma 🤣 we stayed in the 900 villa and heard no “party” noise at all. I seriously cannot recommend staying here enough. Next time we come to this area I would like to book in at the Yucatan but only if I can have a corner room located closest to the monkey bridge as I woke up super early to see them every morning. RIU resorts in Playa are so amazing and the fact that you book at one but have access to others is genius!!!! Love this place and RIU resorts!!

The riu tequilla is a fantastic hotel, with friendly and attentive staff and I cannot fault our two week stay here. Me and my mum travelled to Mexico for my 50th Birthday and chose a Riu as we like the brand and have stayed in other various Riu’s around the world. The hotel is spotlessly clean, staff are friendly and attentive. I couldn’t fault the food in either the buffet restaurant or the Italian and steakhouse and just being able to turn up to the speciality restaurants and not having to book was fantastic. We had to wait a short time for a table in the steak restaurant but they give you a buzzer so you can head back to the bar if you wish. Yes the buffet restaurant can get a bit samey but there was always plenty of choice and availability and well cooked food. Don’t be put off by the fact the Neon and White parties are held here we aren’t party people but loved sitting in the reception setting area listening to the music and once back in your room you can’t hear a thing. There are plenty of beds round the pools, although at some pools we noticed not so many umbrellas and I do like to be able to sit in the shade at times. We sat at the small pool by the activities pool and always got a bed and a brolly. This pool can get a bit noisy but we preferred that to what seemed the relative silence of the larger pool. Lived having the pool side snack bar at lunchtime if you didn’t want to go to the main restaurants. Thank you to the staff at the Riu tequila for making my 50th birthday trip completely memorable
