Cosmopolitan was the best! Thanks to Elio, Miguel, and Rafael for giving the best customer service possible 10/10!

This was our second time staying at Viva Maya Wyndham in Playacar (we were here last April as well), and once again, the atmosphere did not disappoint. There’s something really special about the energy at this resort—it’s warm, welcoming, and genuinely feels like a place you want to return to. Are the rooms perfect? Not quite. They could definitely use some updating, and there’s a bit of a musty smell. But honestly, we spent so little time in the room that it didn’t take away from our experience at all. The beach is absolutely stunning, and the restaurants and buffet were consistently very good. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff—they are the heart of this resort. A special mention to Jesus from the spa—we didn’t even book a service, but he was so kind at every interaction and even recognized us from our last visit. Jesus from the lobby/concierge also remembered us from April and welcomed us back so warmly—it really meant a lot. And the shining star of our trip: Antonio. From the moment we arrived at the beach and pool each day, he made sure everyone around him felt taken care of and never had an empty cup. He remembered us instantly, anticipated what we needed before we even asked, and did it all with such genuine warmth and energy. He remembered everyone’s drink orders and was always checking up on everyone to make sure they had what they needed. By the end of the trip, he felt like family. His work ethic is incredible—constantly moving, always attentive, never missing a detail—yet somehow still making every interaction feel personal. He truly elevates the entire experience and deserves so much recognition. The resort is lucky to have him. The entertainment staff (shout out to Willy!) and daily activities were also fantastic—always something fun going on without being overwhelming. Do we come here for luxury rooms? No. Will we keep coming back because of the people? Absolutely! Thank you, Viva Maya team—we’ll be back!

Just returned from a week at this property.We stayed here a few years back and have also stayed at the Azteca, the sister property a few doors down. Overall, stay was good and the beach fronting this property is amazing.Buffet is good always a plenty of variety to chose from.Rooms are basic but clean.The starbucks like coffee shop and staff are amazing. Biggest complaint, is connectivity. Worst hotel we have stayed in for wi fi anywhere ..., extremely poor for any resort property promoting wifi inclusion in 2026.Only works in the room and selected areas of the hotel and certainly not at the beach and main buffet.Get more band width or upgrade your wifi!!!!! Tried a couple of the a la cartes (Portofino and Mexican)....waste of time....buffet is way better.Service in the Mexican was especially poor and waiter by the name of Marcos needs more hospitality training. Property beach location in playacar is definitely main selling feature.Nice property but would look at other options like the RIUs next door for next visit to playacar.
