    Excepțional

I spent a long weekend at the Halo Szczyrk hotel in May 2024. Halo Szczyrk exceeded my expectations for a 3-star hotel. Great location (close to all attractions), beautiful view of the mountains, even one evening there was a bonfire with highlander music. The food (buffet breakfasts and dinners) was delicious, and Mr. Grzegorz was very nice and helpful. If anyone hesitates, I certainly recommend it.

    Foarte bun

Stay January 15-20, 2024, booked on Booking.com, room no. 121 on the first floor with a view of Skrzyczne. The room has access to a shared outdoor terrace, unfortunately covered with snow in winter and practically unused. As for the hotel itself, it is nicely located on a hill, not far from the city center, about a 15-minute walk away. Coming back to the hotel from the center, you may have to walk a little longer because you have to go uphill. The hotel area is large, which I consider a plus, because there is quite a large parking lot in front of the hotel - for an additional fee. There was also a small playground in front of the hotel, of course unavailable in winter. The hotel itself is several stories high, recently renovated inside and out. The room we had was a small double room with a TV, a kettle for making tea and that was all the additional room equipment, and we also got bathrobes at the reception. There is no safe or fridge in the room, which is standard in three-star hotels. Of course, the room also had a bathroom of standard and adequate size. The advantage of the hotel was definitely the small swimming pool, but what surprised me was quite deep at one end, about 180 cm deep, in the other part it was of course much shallower, and on the plus side there was a lifeguard in the pool. There was also one small jacuzzi and two small dry saunas, as well as a relaxation area with a few deckchairs. There was also a gym, which is not often found in this type of hotels. The gym was equipped with basketball hoops and volleyball equipment. There was also a small gym in the hotel. The hotel restaurant was quite spacious, but had low table tops and I had the impression that I had to bend slightly while eating, which was a bit uncomfortable. The food served for breakfast had a varied selection, there were hot and cold dishes, I missed the local "homely" cold meats, which is also a standard in similar hotels in Poland. Plus for good coffee from the coffee machine. At the reception there was a kind of lobby connected to a small hotel bar/restaurant, where dishes from the menu were served. The food was good - we ate several dishes, plus a children's dish, prices ok for a hotel. This restaurant had several tables, some typical for lunch, others small, typical for coffee. A big minus was that the restaurant was not separated from the reception by any doors, curtains or something similar, because when you were there, there was often cold air coming from outside when opening the automatic entrance door to the hotel, which was located nearby. There was a young guy working in this bar/restaurant, but he was quite gloomy, without a smile or any desire to communicate with customers. There was also a middle-aged lady working there, who clearly had a lot of work, but was also slightly gloomy towards customers. Anyway, unfortunately, I must say, the hotel service was quite poor, which also doesn't usually happen to us in hotels in Poland or in other countries, because the service was almost always good. This was not the case here, the worst thing was the reception lady (she was the same on the day of our arrival and departure from the hotel), because when we arrived at the hotel at around 12 o'clock our room was not ready, we asked where we could change into our ski suits. , she said that there was no such place in the hotel, but there were changing rooms next to the swimming pool and we could change there. Unfortunately we changed in our car. To sum up, we rate the hotel as a good three-star hotel, with good equipment, nice looking, and good and tasty breakfasts. Plus for the swimming pool, saunas and gym. A big minus was the acoustics in the rooms because they were terrible and you could hear the TV on behind the walls and the unfriendly staff working in the hotel. I don't know if we'll come back here, but overall I'll give it a four-star rating, a four-star rating with a big minus.
