Holland House Residence

We spent an enjoyable 5 days here. It is very central and very convenient for much Gdansk has to offer. It is on the central street/square which means it's busy outside until early morning. However the double glazing is very efficient. It has a lift ( round the corner by the stairs as you come in), but some floors still have about 6 steps up and down. All the reception staff were helpful and the desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Taxis will drop you about 100 meters from the hotel as they are not allowed onto the pedestrian street its located on. The room was large and comfortable with single beds that can be moved together. The rooms had a safe and a small minibar fridge, and free shower gel and soap. The T8 FREE bus goes from nearby to and from the main station. There is a separate restaurant under the hotel and another 50+ within a couple of hundred meters! There is kettle and tea/coffee in the room and the (optional) daily housekeeping was very good.

Dark rooms even with the curtains opened. Only a fan and no air con. Cleaned when asked. Toilet flush not very good. Beds uncomfortable for a week's stay. Very central and quiet we found as room situated at the side of the square.

Holland House is a lovely little hotel in the the old town. It’s in a great location, staff are extremely friendly and the room was cosy and warm. We stayed in room 405 and enjoyed it 😊 Breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. A great little get away for 4 nights and I would highly recommend this hotel.

The last of 5 hotels we stayed in during Ng our Poland trip. The most different from the rest. The hotel is above a restaurant so there isn’t really a typical hotel lobby at the first floor. I expected it to be not like a typical international chain type room, and indeed it isn’t. But the room is big and clean, with a view of the main street. It was New Year’s Eve and we got to see the fireworks right outside our window which was fantastic. The location is fantastic to all the interesting places. The breakfast is ala carte , so you order a set off the menu, and they are very good. Only 2 issues I encounter . There isn’t any luggage rack in the room. Strange that they don’t provide at least one . But this is not a big issue. The main issue I had was with the cigarette smoke smell. For the 3 nights we stayed, except for New Year’s Eve, each of the next 2 days at about 9pm onwards , the cigarette smell goes on for more than an hour. There must be a chimney smoking in another room. Extremely disturbing to us. Otherwise, everything else is great.

Very central to all shops and restaurants. Room nice and spacious unfortunately the bed and pillows where very hard and uncomfortable. Reception staff were friendly enough however the female staff on arrival in the bar was very rude to my husband, so we choose not to eat or drink there for the remaining of our holiday. Breakfast was also disappointing. When we arrived home, we recieved an email stating we were dishonest and had not paid for chocolates from the mini bar. We didn't have anything from the mini bar. So someone in the hotel is being dishonest. The hotel is more a 3 star hotel rather than 4.
