The resort was OK. The food was basic. We basically ate the same things at the buffet everytime we went there. The was not variety. The pool was filthy the first day that we got there but was cleaned overnight and clean everyday after. The weekend crowds that come in make the resort very crowded and the staff in the buffet as well as the bars caters to their people before attempting to serve others. I had to wait over 30 minutes for a drink at the bar because the bartenders would serve anyone who spoke spanish before servivg me. The noise level was not bad most of the time but during the weekends, it was very bad. The rooms looked to be recently repainted but they were still dated. We had 1 one where the AC stopped working and we had to wait for 2 days to get another room. We also had isues with the in room safe where we couldn't get it open. This happened in 2 of our rooms. The resort is located about 30 minutes from the airport and all excursions that we did we within 20 to 30 minutes drive. Overall, I would say that this wasn't a terrible stay but neither was it a good. I would not go back to this resort.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Occidental Caribe Resort, in Punta Cana, for 10 days to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary. We had selected a Premium Suite - and it was so worth it! We had a personal Butler, Baroni Rodriguez, who made our stay very special. He made tour arrangements for us, à la carte reservations, and was there to provide whatever assistance we required, on a day to day basis. He kept in contact with us regularly and was always ready to make our stay more enjoyable. We found the Premium Suite room to be absolutely wonderful. The location, spaciousness, and amenities were perfect. The restaurants and bars were lovely. All the people working throughout the resort were kind, efficient, and always had a smile on their face . We enjoyed the pools, the ocean, and the overall atmosphere at the Occidental Caribe. We definitely hope we can come back forward to a high quality experience once again.

I don't know where to begin. We were very dissatisfied with our 7-day stay at the resort.The moment we entered, it was clear we'd be disappointed; we waited in line for two hours to check in. To many locals coming. The rooms were old and poorly maintained, the towels weren't white but had turned gray. Very limited too we had to ask for more but it took more than 1 hr to bring them. The service is slow here. There was very little variety at the open buffet, barely any chicken and if you are a vegetarian, the food options here are very limited, meats and cheese use the same utensils, no proper labeling on the foods. It gave us more like a cafeteria atmosphere.We had to eat out a few times. All the meats cook at the same station you have to be careful with the cross contamination, when we see that we didn’t even want to eat. We had hard time finding empty tables and the tables were not cleaned properly ,the services is terrible. It’s like self serve. You ask for a drink it takes forever to come. There is a huge language barrier here no one speaks English hard to communicate.The pizza place was good and fresh at least we had that to eat. The restaurants hard to book, Japanese was ok. Mexican and Italian was better. They have coffee machines in the lobby bars they are fresh and good . The pools were not clean or maintained well, the beach towels had stains and rips. The hotel should change all the towels bath and beach towels they are old. The beach is nice little wave's some sargassum they try to keep it clean. The nightly animation is good. The animation team is lively and friendly. It is a noisy hotel if your looking for quiet nights this is not the place the music is on until 2 am We went to Saona Island it was gorgeous but a bit far. The transportation takes long. If you are picky person don’t come here pay extra and go to a better hotel. This is our third time coming to Punta Cana I’ll say this was the worse resort we have stayed and we’re not a picky person. We have stayed at Barcelo hotels before really liked it but this one was a disappointment for us. I chose this hotel because it was a part of Barcelo chain. We will not return back!

We had an incredible stay at the Occidental Caribe, and a huge part of that was thanks to our butler, Baroni Rodriguez. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure every detail of our vacation was perfect. When we first arrived, we weren’t satisfied with our room so Baroni went out of his way to make sure we were accommodated and switched both of our rooms to satisfy our needs. Baroni was professional, friendly, attentive, and always available whenever we needed anything. He consistently checked in to make sure we were comfortable, handled every request promptly, and made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay. Baroni booked dinner reservations for us so my family and Incould experience all of the dining options Occidental Carribe had to offer. His exceptional customer service and genuine kindness truly exceeded our expectations. If you’re staying at the Occidental Caribe in Punta Cana, I highly recommend requesting Baroni Rodriguez as your butler. He is an outstanding professional who genuinely cares about providing an unforgettable guest experience. Thank you, Baroni, for making our vacation so relaxing and memorable. If I could give 10 starts I most definately would. We can’t wait to come back!
