Caribe Deluxe Princess

Still here as I write this but definitely ready for home. Negatives: We have all been ill (6 of us) some virus which is similar to Covid with bad cough felt like a chest infection, high temperature and vomiting. Our paracetamol supply quickly ran out and we had to buy from the shop $25 for 10 750mg paracetamol- absolutely disgusting. The pools are growing algae - the hotel say it’s sun cream - I get that’s a factor but there is no way that’s all it is, every single bikini and pair of swimming shorts is now an awful shade of green. My daughter’s naturally blonde hair has gone green as have our fingernails. There is a green scum around the pool constantly they come and pour god knows what into it and brush it away but half an hour later it’s back. There is not enough chlorine in the pool and they’re not cleaned well enough considering people are constantly drinking their bar drinks in there. Also the tiles around the pool are not well maintained - many are crack or broken which has led to minor cuts which is just not what you’d expect from a four / five star hotel. The food is awful - the only saving grace is the pizza. The buffet is particularly bad far too small for the number of people using. The Italian and Mexican were both horrendous the Japanese is the only saving grace at this place but even that wasn’t amazing. Mosquitoes - due to the swamp they have here the mosquitoes are terrible day and night. We bought OFF (deep woods) from the shop here at the bargain price of $28 which has helped but we’re all still getting half a dozen bites daily. So this was not the hotel we originally booked but due to renovation work at our original hotel we were given this. I was initially pleased with this as reading the reviews they seemed good. The rooms are a mixed bag I think they are refurbishing them but we had two room that definitely needed refurbishment. Shower head although huge was pretty grim and, furniture is ikea, many of the drawers are dropped or just don’t open or close properly and our toilet had to be fixed three times. The cleaners do an amazing job and clean them thoroughly every day, that is the main positive about the hotel. The pools - we spent the first few days around what we named the party pool, pool bar and entertainment however it was not our thing (dancing competitions where women are encouraged to dance like they’re at a strip club and pose in three “sexy” positions while the young lads and men in the pool scream at them) so quickly moved to pool 2 which was the quieter of the two however has been overtaken today by a mob, screaming and whaling at the bar, doing shots with the bar tender which is great if you’re at a party but when you’re a family it’s quite intimidating trying to get a drink. This also happened when we were in the sports bar and one of the main reasons we moved away from the party pool. People seem to descend on this place in huge groups, the staff don’t seem to be able or wanting to contain it so everyone has to put up with their screaming and horrible drunken behaviour. The beach would be beautiful if it wasn’t for all the seaweed, they do try to clear it but they have no chance with the vast amount that comes in constantly. There is a massive divide here, if you don’t speak Spanish you’re treated completely differently. I read this in other reviews and thought people were being sensitive but it’s crazy, we were told by TUI rep to tip well and it would be good but hasn’t made a difference. Many of the staff do not seem to want to be here and certainly don’t hide that from you. I left my sunglasses on the table in the buffet restaurant on the first morning - got back to the room and realised what I’d done, went straight back and the drinking glasses that we’d had were still on the table but the glasses were gone. I asked but the waiter just shooed me away saying there wasn’t any there. I spoke to guest services who told me security would look into it but didn’t ask where I was sat, when in happened, description the sunglasses etc I returned three times to ask for an update but they just told me the same thing that they couldn’t see anything.

Unacceptable for a 5-Star Resort – Terrible Service and Unhygienic Rooms ​Do not be fooled by the beautiful lobby; the actual guest experience at this resort is far from 5-star quality. A b&b in downtown maybe is better. ​My ordeal began right at check-in. I arrived at 11:00 AM and had to wait until 3:00 PM to get my key. When I opened the door to room 2103, I found strangers inside who told me the room was already occupied! I went back to reception and was given room 2305, which I couldn't actually access until 5:00 PM. ​The room quality is shockingly poor. Every room I was assigned had old, stained bedsheets (see attached photos). To make matters worse, after returning from the beach and showering later that evening, I discovered the bed smelled strongly of urine. I called reception at 11:00 PM, and a staff member came to inspect at 12.15 (1 hour) we both confirmed the mattress was wet and soiled with urine. Despite this severe health and hygiene issue, it took until 1:00 AM (two hours later!) to finally move me to a third room. ​When I requested a refund for the first night—a completely reasonable request given this nightmarish experience—management refused. Instead, they offered spa credits or restaurant vouchers, which are useless to me since I leave early tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM. Despite this management woman refused this also. ​The restaurant policy is equally frustrating and deceptive. I was told at reception that all a la carte restaurants were fully booked for the evening. I decided to walk in anyway to the " Nape restaurant and found it practically empty; I was seated immediately. It is obvious the staff repeatedly claims restaurants are "fully booked" just to push guests toward the buffet o to obligated to book for $ 500 a platinum upgrade. ​This resort sells a 5-star image at reception, but behind the scenes, it suffers from severe operational chaos, awful food management, and gross hygiene violations.

Personally, I wouldn’t come back. That said, if you’re traveling on a budget, Caribe/Tropical Deluxe Princess still offers decent value. The highlights were the pools (one quiet and one with entertainment), the beach, the fact that there were always plenty of loungers available (even though a lot were broken) and especially the à la carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was excellent, Fogo was a pleasant surprise, and La Cava was simply outstanding. The downsides: our first room was dirty (hair and stains everywhere), and we had to wait about two hours before being moved to another room. The buffet was a MAJOR disappointment—too small. Not an exaggeration, it’s quite surprising that the hotel not only has one buffet but that small!! often extremely crowded, very unpleasant experience. The drinks were also very poor; we ended up drinking water most of the time. Even for an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, I don’t think this is a true 5-star hotel. One of the most surprising things also is that after housekeeping, our fridge temperature was changed to room temp after refill… the AC went on and off too and is right on the bed, so if you’re just a bit sensitive to AC, you’ll have to choose.. Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable resort to enjoy the beach and pools, this hotel may be a good fit. However, if cleanliness, 5 star hotel, a good buffet, and quality drinks are important to you, I would look elsewhere.

We just got back from a vacation there . The resort is beautiful. Two big pools . One for kids also and slides . Very big pathways through the forest with lots of lizards and birds. Coffie place very nice , ice cream place also , sport bar and beach bar . It's true if you do not speak Spanish or do not look Latino you are treated very very differently by a lot staf members and servers especially in the buffet restaurant and around that area. Servers very rude , don't even come to your table most of the days you have to do everything by yourself. The beach was not good . Lots and lots of weeds on the beach rotten weeds siting there for days and in the sea also . Lucky we went there with friends because it feels very isolated by staff members . Never coming back .

The hotel lacks culinary variety; there are no themed menus, and the same menu is served for several days. Excellent room and cleaning Excellent entertainment team. Poor-quality drinks. Very poor service from the bartenders and restaurant servers. Excellent reception team beautifull place train takes long to pick you up Never come back
