Caribe Deluxe Princess

Resort was clean and staff were amazing. Foam pool party was the best in the Domicican that we have ever experienced. Buffet was ok options were very limited. Service was mediocre and not the greatest in the buffet. Hotel rooms were clean but towel supply in the room was scarce. Took us 2 days to get towels in the room after speaking with front desk twice and 4 different cleaning staff ended up using the pool towels. We still have 6 days left of our trip so far it’s going well. Would not rate as a 4 star hotel.

When I read some of the negative reviews, I honestly wonder if we stayed at the same hotel. I travelled to the Dominican Republic on my own and had a wonderful stay at Caribe Deluxe Princess. That’s exactly why I wanted to leave an honest review, because I really saw how much effort the people working there put into making sure guests have a good time. My room was clean, tidy and very well maintained throughout my stay. The housekeeping staff clearly did their best and it showed. I had one issue with the air conditioning in my room, but it was fixed within an hour, which I thought was excellent service. During my stay I upgraded to VIP Platinum for $40 per day and for me it was absolutely worth it. It gave access to à la carte breakfast and lunch, a separate section of the beach with luxury sunbeds and a private bar, and access to the Platinum restaurants. I would definitely recommend La Cava. If you want to treat yourself to a bit of extra comfort, I would absolutely consider it. What stood out to me most was the staff. I found the people working at this hotel incredibly kind, warm and helpful. They really do their best to make sure you have a good stay, and it felt genuine. Of course tips are appreciated, but I never felt that the quality of the service depended on that. My experience was simply that if you treat people with kindness and respect, you get that same kindness back. I would also really like to give a special thank you to four people in particular from the Platinum bar/restaurant: Andres, Cepin, Francisco and Patricio. They knew I was travelling alone and regularly checked in to see how I was doing. Their kindness, great service, genuine involvement and cheerful presence really were the cherry on top of my holiday. Honestly, I would go back just to see them again and I definitely will return!!! Unfortunately I also had to visit the hotel doctor during my stay, which is obviously not something you hope for, especially when travelling alone. But I was very impressed with the care I received. The young doctor was knowledgeable, decisive and very reassuring. I felt taken seriously, well looked after and genuinely at ease. I was also happy with the food. The buffet restaurant offered plenty of choice and I thought the food was absolutely fine. I also tried several of the themed restaurants and enjoyed those as well. El Pilon, the Dominican restaurant, was one of my favourites, and as mentioned before I would definitely recommend La Cava too. Another thing I really loved was the wildlife on the resort. There were flamingos, herons, ducks, iguanas, peacocks, turtles, geese and more. It gives the resort something extra and makes it feel very lively and unique. I had read a review from someone complaining about a bad smell on the grounds, but I honestly didn’t notice that at all. The sea is beautiful, although there is quite a lot of seaweed washing ashore. That is a well-known issue in Punta Cana and not something I would blame the hotel for. What I did appreciate was that the hotel cleaned it up twice a day with a small tractor. The resort also has two large pools and a children’s pool. During my stay there was always plenty of space and I hardly noticed any “towel reserving”. I can’t say what it’s like in peak season, but during my stay it wasn’t an issue at all. I booked my excursions directly at the hotel. One thing to keep in mind is that excursions in general are quite expensive, so it’s worth factoring that into your budget. Did I have any downsides at all? Really just one: the weekly market at the resort. They mainly sell local art and jewellery, but I thought the prices were way too high for what was being offered. So if you want to buy something there, make sure to negotiate well, or simply visit one of the souvenir shops nearby instead. All in all, I look back on my stay at Caribe Deluxe Princess with a lot of happiness. As a solo traveller I had a truly wonderful holiday and I would definitely come back. Precisely because I experienced so much kindness, hospitality and genuine effort from the people working there, I felt it was important to leave a positive review as well. The staff work hard and really do their best to make your holiday special, and I think that deserves to be said.

Wally G, Welington, Yohancil, and Alejandro have been wonderful; the service has been immaculate. They have listened and taken good care of my group of 23 and me. They are here next again. Wonderful experience all together will recommend to my other relatives we had been here before and its great to see that the serviIg they are here next year and we come back, it will be great to see them

This resort claims to be family friendly - but many of the amenities including the restaurants and beach are not as advertised. The majority of the time you're unable to get food from anywhere but the "Market" - where you sit out in the heat with a few fans to cool you off (if they're working). The food itself in the market was ok - but the staff made a few food safety violations (like using the same tongs on raw meat and immediately moving to cooked meat). The restaurants either had no Air Conditioning at all, no reservations available, or did not deliver the things in their menu (Like the Brazilian Steakhouse that advertised Tomahawk Steak and Wagyu only providing 1 serving of Picaña steak - no other steaks in sight at a STEAKHOUSE). If you happen to miss the hours the market is open, you'll be happy to know they DO have a snack area - you won't be happy to know you share that snack area with all of the local birds. Even after informing management that the birds were all over the food and bread and being assured they would handle it, the food remained uncovered. If you manage to get food from this snack bar, you'll be treated to a view of the seaweed covered beach - far from what's advertised. Bad enough that I paid money to drive to another beach instead of staying at the one I paid money for. I travel often, and have never been this disappointed in a stay. It got to a point where the manager stopped responding to our text messages because of how bad things were.

Me, my wife and adult daughter (18) arrived on June the 8th and stayed for 2 weeks. We had two rooms both were spacious and we had a garden view which looked over a lake with Flamingo’s, a Stork, peacocks and ducks, which was nice to wake up too. The main buffet restaurant always had fresh food being cooked and as a family always found something tasty. I would strongly recommend visiting the a la carte restaurants with the Teppanyaki and Bristolian being our favourites; but all were worth a visit. There are loads of bars to choose from with our evenings spent in the lobby bar, sports bar and adults only bar mainly. The pool car was nice during the first week when it was quiet; however, in the second week it became busy and very boisterous with drunk Americans so we moved to a quieter pool which had its own bar. There was always sun loungers available no matter what time you arrived by the pools if you weren’t picky about which pool you used. The facilities were good with a coffee shop, ice-cream parlour and a shop along with a small Chappell catering for weddings etc. The only moan I have is that on occasions the bartenders didn’t speak great English so getting orders across could be a challenge. The hotel has English, American and lots of South American people there which added a nice blend of people. Just be mindful you need to travel on a train from the rooms and pools to the lobby and some of the restaurants and bars but they arrive every 5 minutes or so but can get busy at peak times.
