Loved this place The ambiance is great.. there was a gentleman playing sax and a female playing violin.. different nights but each an 1.5 hrs long during dinner.. they were enchanting.. the adult side is so laid back and relaxing...quiet atmosphere.. the adult pool closest to the lobby is packed. By the time i walked to breakfast at 715, 90% all the chairs were taken. They do a lot of activities during the day there and that bar was pretty good.. the housekeeper was great. She snuck in and left my husband extra beers in the frig, would empty the garbage regularly throughout the day, turn down service plus she had flowers decorating the room for me!! I had a great nap in the patio in my hammock.. had to ask to have them set it up but the day ut rained in the afternoon it was a perfect way to nap before returning to the beach! Yes there is seaweed.. but the men are out there at 630 ( i know cause I was there to watch the sunrise) cleaning everything up and then after truck came to haul it away.. then the snuck in right after lunch to do it again.. so when you walk in the water tjere is about 3 feet wide you walk through , then you're good.. I'll take that over snow any day! - bring a cup or buy 1 there! The provided cups are regular size but the will fill up your 24 Oz cup also so it limited the times back and kept it much colder.. the drinks melted quick in the sun! 1. The adult side beach bar made a horrible margarita (and no there were different flavored margaritas, i know my drinks)... It wasn't even a margarita.. I tried a few each day but even different people didnt help.. they were awful and didnt taste like a margarita at all... it was poured out of a milk jug that soneone mixed together.. the store bought pre-made stuff would have 100 times better.. the bars BLoved and beach bar really didnt make the drinks well at all.. 2. I tried to book another trip for Jan 2027 and the schedule was not out yet. And the ladies didnt know when the new schedule would allow me to book. i cant wait to book it again (with my children this time). PROs... The gentleman at the adult beach Marco, the beach runner who was attending to the privileged side was wonderful! Amazing.. he came over consistently checking on us and making sure we didn't need anything... REYNALDO!! now this man knows how to make a Margarita .. I would walk to the family side pool Margaritas, multiple times a day to see that man.. his were the Best and i told him so!! He made them from scratch the way they should be done!! Both Marco and Reynaldo followed the Catolinia way to please the client!!! And because of those men, I will be back!!

First time in a Catalonia resort, and I would stay again at a Catalonia, due to the quality of food and the friendly yet laid back staff. Make sure to bring dollar bills for tipping. Overall it fell short of 5* but definitely worth 4* Hotel grounds, on the beach and good cleanliness - beautiful place. 5* The food is really nice. We had no stomach issues, and enjoyed most of the a la cartes on offer, really worth trying each one. However, Tao Cat Asian wasn't great. Beach bbq and food truck I would avoid, the crepes were alright. The drinks could be better, which they probably are if you pay for privilege. The cocktails are very sweet but the dirty monkey is a good one. Soft drinks are usually flat due to the heat. 4* The standard rooms are sufficient, but signs of wear are obvious due to the age of the hotel, loose plug sockets, loose toilet handle, the shower which can sometimes take a while to get going. The TV has a good range of channels and there is a fridge. Apartments 40-46 are near the pool, which means it is impossible to escape the noise of late entertainment, so if you want quiet make sure to request it. 3* One disappointment is the people on the beach/pool trying to get you to buy stuff. They look official, but we purchased the Monkey Land Excursion and was sent to some other animal place, I would just organise it through your holiday provider instead. I would certainly take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt. They are mainly exaggerated. We stayed adults only side for 10 nights, did not see the need to pay for privilege. Make sure to watch the sunrise at least once on the beach!

Last-minute trip booked, and I relied heavily on the hotel’s overall rating without reading detailed reviews. Unfortunately, that rating is very misleading. The location is one of the resort’s few strong points as it’s very close to the airport. The grounds and beach are also beautiful and well maintained. However, the adults-only side is very lackluster for a supposed five-star resort. The lobby and pools are modest and feel underwhelming, especially compared to expectations. Even the family side, while larger, appears dated and run down in several areas. The biggest frustration of the trip was the room. We stayed in a “Superior Junior Room,” and there was nothing superior about it. The room was extremely dated, which we could have overlooked, but basic expectations were not met. There were no outlets on either side of the bed. The bathroom was poorly maintained—the metal ceiling had visible rust and looked like it was about to fall apart. A metal shelf was half dangling from the wall, held by rusted wires. There was tape across the top of the main door where a piece of wood was missing, and the peephole was completely broken. Air conditioning also seems to be more of a “perk” than a standard amenity here. After multiple trips to the front desk and a visit from an unhelpful maintenance worker, we were finally moved to a new room after spending several nights with the thermostat reading 25°C. The A/C worked for one night in the new room, but by the last night it was again barely functioning. This room also had its own issues, including a non-working bathroom outlet and a toilet that ran continuously. Food was not terrible at most à la carte restaurants, but the buffet was very underwhelming. Some restaurants, such as Mamma Mia and Ayami, were nearly impossible to get reservations for, and the others filled up quickly. Service was hit or miss. Some staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, while others acted as if they were being forced to be there. There were also very few staff members who spoke good English—some tried their best, while others simply didn’t make an effort. There are cats at the front of the resort, which wasn’t surprising, as we’ve seen this at other resorts in different countries. However, allowing them to roam freely through outdoor dining areas was odd. There were also dogs on the beach, at the main pool, and even at Bloved restaurant. As a dog lover, this wouldn’t normally bother me, but after seeing dogs drink from the pool, urinate near pool areas, and jump onto beach chairs and towels, “sanitary” is not a word that comes to mind. This was our first and only stay at this resort and at any Catalonia resort. Many other brands manage to deliver a true five-star experience at the same price point, and unfortunately this one fell far short.
