Amazing resort. I loved every second of it.

⭐️⭐️ 2/5 Stars: Unacceptable Room Maintenance & Slow Response (A 4-Time Catalonia Guest's Honest Review) **Disappointing Stay at Catalonia Royal Bávaro – A Far Cry from the Brand's Usual Quality** As loyal, returning customers who have stayed at Catalonia resorts four times, we were incredibly disappointed by our recent 6-night stay (June 13 to June 19, 2026) at the Catalonia Royal Bávaro. In the past, we’ve always had 4 and 5-star experiences with this brand, but this particular location felt like a 3-star resort at best—largely due to a severely subpar room and an incredibly slow response to our complaints. We booked a **Romance Deluxe Junior Suite**, but the room we were assigned had a laundry list of structural and maintenance issues: * **Dangerous Bathroom Leak:** The floor next to the shower leaked water constantly, even when the shower wasn't in use, making the tiles slick and incredibly dangerous. * **Plumbing Issues:** Of the two sinks in the bathroom, only one was usable because the other had a completely blocked/closed drain. * **Broken Furniture:** The middle bed post was sticking out and providing zero actual support to the bed. * **Subpar Amenities:** The TV remote didn’t work, and the television reception itself was completely unclear. * **Cosmetic Neglect:** There were noticeable, unappealing cracks in the ceiling. What made a bad situation worse was the resort's handling of the issue. We reported these problems immediately, but it took **three full nights** of our stay to get any sort of resolution. Getting help required being put on hold for extended periods by the front desk, physically going down to reception to complain in person, and ultimately escalating the issue to an Exclusive Membership sales representative. Eventually, after half our trip was over, we were moved just down the hall to a similar Romance Deluxe Junior Suite that was perfectly fine. While the second room was what we expected from the start, losing three nights of a vacation to administrative foot-dragging and unsafe room conditions is unacceptable. Between the lackluster food and the frustratingly slow customer service response, this location does not live up to the Catalonia name. While we will continue to visit other Catalonia properties, we will absolutely not be returning to this location.

Our room wasn't ready upon our arrival, but we got upgraded for that night to an Executive Pool Suite room. First impressions of the upgraded room were good, so we paid extra to stay there for the remainder of our holiday. It was then that we started to notice things and encounter problems. The TV wasn't working, the room's air conditioning broke down on several occasions, our block was affected by a power cut (meaning we had to move to another, lesser, room with no in-resort refund on the upgrade cost we paid), only one of the two toilets in the room were ever operable, our restaurant review was completed by a member of staff, and, after a few days, the builder's yard at the back of the Executive block started to make a significant amount of drilling, sawing and vehicle noise. Come the end of our stay, we were on first name terms with the reception staff as we had to report so many issues. The hard-working maintenance team visited our room on eight separate occasions. Do your research and spot the patterns in other reviews.

Checkin is good, hotel and site very clean, maid in room is very good, food is surprisingly very good. Staff is really nice everywhere and a special thanks to Martinez and Angelica on the beach for our drinks. What really bothered me is the vendors on the beach that comes right up to you and talk really loud when you are half asleep relaxing under the sun to get your attention. There are also vendors on the site by the buffet and on your way there for pictures, etc….there are vendors for everything available on this planet, one of the worst I’ve seen of all resort I’ve been to. It’s too bad because it ruins everything else because this resort is a very good value for your money and to my taste probably the best food I had in all resorts I’ve been to in the Dominican.

The dinner the beach for my birthday with my girlfriend was amazing, our sever “Jhon” in particular was great very friendly and very helpful he went over the top to make sure we had everything we needed and more so thank you Jhon 10/10 would recommend this experience.
