The location, rooms, and overall atmosphere of this resort are beautiful, but unfortunately the service did not match the quality of the property. Many employees seemed to spend more time standing around talking than assisting guests. I always tip because I appreciate good service, but even after tipping, the level of service rarely improved. The entertainment staff worked incredibly hard and were some of the friendliest people we met. I have no issue with the language barrier—we’re guests in another country, and I enjoy experiencing different cultures. That was never the problem. What disappointed me most was being told that if I wanted a reservation, I would need to tip or I would be told the restaurants were fully booked, even when many tables appeared empty. The experience that finally convinced me to leave a review happened at the Family Selection restaurant, ES Niu. We waited over an hour for our food while several employees stood around talking. Another family became so frustrated that they confronted the staff before we ever said anything ourselves. I’m 21 years old and almost never leave reviews, but I felt other travelers should know what our experience was. The resort itself is beautiful and has so much potential, but the service consistently fell short of what we expected. I hope management addresses these issues because the property deserves staff who provide the same level of quality as the facilities.
