Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort and Aqua Games

After reading the recent reviews we were quite worried, but we honestly feel like we stayed in a different hotel, we had the best time!! I never write reviews but I wanted to share this as some of these bad reviews are wild! Arrival Arrival was super quick and easy, the receptionist was lovely, we received a welcome drink as a standard and then around 5 minutes later someone from the bar came over with beers for all the family! Was such a great start!! After we checked in the luggage attendant took all our bags and insisted he took everyone when we offered to help, on the way to our room he gave us so much information about the hotel and the restaurant bookings which was super helpful! Rooms We stayed in room 2007 it was super clean, amazing view and the cleaner came everyday did a great job and the fridge was topped up daily! Absolutely no complaints. We had a cot in our room for our 11 month old which was perfect, we took a travel cot with us too just incase as I was a bit worried, but we never used it once as our little one was more than happy in there cot provided. Food Buffet for breakfast was spot on, it had everything you needed and more! For lunch we predominantly used the pool restaurant and pizza bar which were good! We only used the buffet restaurant in the evening once and it was nothing to shout out about however we did arrive late and it was after a day of travelling! The À La Carte restaurants however were FANTASTIC!! We really enjoyed every single one of them, you could not fault the food there, honestly amazing! We went to the French, Mediterranean and Brazilian twice while we were there because they were our favourite but all of them were still fab! The drinks selection was great, plenty of cocktails on the menu but if there was a drink that wasn’t on the menu that you like they were more than happy to make it! Service Service was great!! We had our 11 month daughter with us and every single staff member was so good with her keeping her entertained giving her lots of attention and keeping her happy this genuinely made our holiday I can’t stress enough how amazing they were and it was so lovely to see her so happy interacting with the staff, even when she was being grumpy they would be trying as hard as they could just to get a smile ha! Pool Pool was lovely, a great size and was always clean! The pool area was clean the majority of the time sometimes its seemed messy but this was mostly down to rude guests who think it’s acceptable just to throw rubbish on the floor, it was impossible for staff to keep on top of it every single minute with guests like that! Grounds So nice and well maintained! Entertainment Plenty of entertainment throughout the day and night, the live bands in the night were brilliant! The music around the pool was great too, a good mixture and the perfect volume, was also good that you could put requests in too! Recommendations to hotel One suggestion would be to maybe add a beer and soda tap and some cooled bottles of wine in the pool restaurant as this would allow people to help themselves rather than waiting on the staff to order when they were already busy, this would potentially alleviate the wait times in the bar too which could sometimes be a bit long. Another suggestion would be more high chairs in the restaurants we found that most days we were on the hunt for one, the staff would always help us find one but sometimes it just took a little longer than it needed to, a couple more would make it an easy fix All in all we had the most amazing stay and we will definitely be back!

Alberto and Pedro were phenomenal at IKEBANA. Best dining experience we’ve had since coming to the DR and we’ve been to almost every resort here. Both of them deserve all the praise and a raise :)

Food: Dining conditions were disappointing, with tables in food service areas rarely cleaned, suggesting either understaffing or lack of initiative. Food quality was inconsistent, often served lukewarm or cold, and lacked variety beyond basic items like rice and beans. Although staff frequently asked about allergies, there was minimal labeling or information provided, and buffet setups increased the risk of cross-contamination due to missing utensils and unclear food identification. Over a two-week stay, both of us lost noticeable weight, reflecting the poor quality and limited appeal of the meals. Accommodations: The resort is in clear need of significant maintenance and investment. Our room had stained bedding upon arrival, mold in the bathroom, and insufficient linens (no face cloths and limited towels). Housekeeping was inconsistent, including one missed service due to a key issue. The toilet frequently malfunctioned, forcing us to use public facilities. Structural deterioration was visible throughout the property, including mold on roofs and rotting eaves. Overall, the resort falls far short of its advertised 5-star luxury standard. Amenities: Entertainment offerings were underwhelming and unprofessional for a resort of this supposed caliber. Music was consistently played at excessive volumes, driving guests away rather than enhancing the atmosphere. The on-site store was significantly overpriced, making it impractical for purchasing essentials. Staff & Service: Service was inconsistent and often frustrating. Check-in was slow, with only one representative handling a large group late at night, and no refreshments were offered during off-hour arrivals or departures. Staff responsiveness was poor, with frequent communication barriers and a lack of managerial availability. Maintenance issues, particularly with the toilet, required repeated calls and were never properly resolved. Buffet service was inattentive, with long waits for basic items like coffee and cutlery. Cleanliness standards were also lacking, with spills often ignored rather than properly cleaned. Pool: The pool area was excessively noisy and poorly maintained. Cleanliness was a major concern, with visible residue in the water lasting several days. Towels were frequently unavailable, and hygiene practices at the pool bar were questionable, with glasses appearing to be reused after only a rinse.

We recently returned from a wonderful family holiday in the Dominican Republic, staying at the beautiful Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort — and I felt compelled to share what made our trip so special. The resort itself is stunning, with immaculate grounds, fantastic facilities, and a brilliant atmosphere for families. The water park was one of the main highlights and looked amazing from the moment we arrived. My daughter is autistic, and new environments can sometimes feel overwhelming for her. At first, she was very scared to go down the slides. The height, noise, and busy surroundings made her anxious, and we weren’t sure she would be able to enjoy that part of the holiday. That’s when we met Luis Daniel, one of the lifeguards, who completely transformed her experience. Luis was calm, patient, and incredibly professional. He took the time to speak gently with her, explaining everything clearly and offering reassurance without ever rushing or pressuring her. He allowed her to go at her own pace and helped her feel safe and supported. Thanks to Luis, she didn’t just try one slide — she ended up experiencing all of them! Watching her overcome her fears and feel so proud of herself was one of the most emotional and memorable moments of our entire holiday. As parents, we cannot thank him enough. Luis Daniel is an absolute credit to the resort. His kindness, understanding, and professionalism went far beyond expectations and made a lasting impact on our family’s stay. We are so grateful for the incredible memories we made at Grand Sirenis and would highly recommend it — especially to families travelling with children who may need that little bit of extra patience and care. We will definitely be returning!

We left feeling disappointed. While the specialty dining was a highlight, the resort is struggling with significant maintenance, sanitation, and basic safety protocols that overshadowed the "all-inclusive" experience. Warning: this resort is clearly oriented for families with a lot of poorly supervised kids. If you dont want to be around kids for a week, I would go somewhere else. The Good * Dining: The Italian (terrific wood-fire pizza) and Ikebana Japanese were excellent. The food at Route 66 was also pretty good. * Lobby: The only area of the resort that felt consistently clean and professional. The Bad (Maintenance & Service) * Room Issues: Our AC didn’t work properly, the room smelled heavily of humidity, and the patio door did not lock (major security concern). The shower glass wasn't caulked, causing the bathroom to flood every single day. * Concierge Confusion: There is zero signage on the concierge buildings. We were bounced between desks by staff who seemed more interested in upselling $70 USD private dinners than helping with our included reservations. * Pool Neglect: The pools are in poor shape. Underwater lights have fallen off the walls and are just sitting there; tiles are missing, and the water became blurry by the end of our stay. The quiet pool lacks basic ladders, which is a safety risk. The Ugly (Sanitation & Safety) * Allergy Failure: At the Japanese restaurant, we disclosed a garlic allergy to the hostess. She never told the chef. We had to stop the chef mid-show to prevent a medical emergency. This is unacceptable. * Sanitation: We found fried feathers on our chicken wings at the Steakhouse. At the buffet, unoccupied tables sit for hours; birds pick at unfinished plates while guests wait for clean seating. * Public Areas: The Sports Bar was the dirtiest. Everything is sticky and smells like a locker room. Restrooms consistently smelled of vomit regardless of the time of day. Operational Gaps * Buffet/Snacks: Identification tags were completely mixed up and useless. Lunch options were really limited. Everyone settled for The beach/pool snack bar (burger and hotdogs) but they couldnt keep up with the demand. They constantly ran out of burgers and never replenished them, leaving guests with very few options. * Repetitive Vibes: The animation team plays the same 5 songs for every single activity, every single day. Most "shows" are basically just guests dancing on stage. Verdict: The kitchen staff are talented, but management is failing on infrastructure and hygiene. Until the safety issues (locks, pool lights, and allergy communication) are fixed, I cannot recommend this resort.
