At the resort, problems with: Hotel credit. Safe malfunctioning Accessing Wi-fi. Employees struggled with assisting in this issue. Downloading app to make reservations for dinner. Employees had problems doing same. No distilled water at hotel. One employee told me the hotel sold it. It does not. Customer service or "guest relations" said it is a special order item that their "pharmacy had to order" and requested a gallon be delivered for $42. Was told need a collared shirt when a t-shirt was sufficient and at some point, tank tops were allowed in the dining facilities. When attempting to redeem $300 hotel credit, I was informed that it was not a total $300 credit. You have to purchase something (e.g. massage, cabana) you get a $25 discount. Asked to tell travel agent because people expect a $300 credit, period. An employee informed me that it was just a way to get people to spend money. Day 2 At the so called fine dining restaurants. In small print is "lobster, certain steaks can be had for extra.". A hair in potatoes. Went to general buffet. They were serving lobster and salmon. Orange Juice is or tastes like Tang. Last day someone sat next to us that smoked and the wind blew the cigarette smoke towards us. No elevator. You better be able to climb stairs and walk 1 to 2 miles without a problem. Positives Water pressure is good. Water temperature in hotel very good. Air conditioning was great. The best mojitos I ever had. General buffet offers wide enough variety. Traveling there better than traveling back to the states. I made the best of the situation but I would never go back there and I would discourage others from going there.
Firstly no welcome drink or introduction to the resort to understand what was where. The staff are not at all customer focussed and all seem very sad in their job. The APP to use for restaurant bookings is almost impossible to successfully create a booking. There are lots of teenagers causing havoc in and around the resort, shouting and swearing. The room was very basic and underwhelming considering we booked the diamond club swim up room. The room was also close to the reception area where staff would shout to one another down corridors and along side our room which was a pathway to the other block. This also shows the lack of care for guests. The food is very, very basic and not much better in the Italian or steakhouse. It was a struggle daily to have the mini bar restocked, The hideaway pool was disgusting to the point you couldn’t see the bottom of it, hardly surprising with people drinking and smoking in the pool. The TUI rep wasn’t at the desk during the specified times. This is by far the worst Royalton hotel we have stayed in and never again. The bed sheets were not changed in the 10 days we stayed at the hotel, towels were thread bear and no hand towels available. Our only saving Grace was Denis our butler, without Denis we would never have eaten in any of the preferred restaurants, Denis also sorted out the mini bar stocking issue. The resort is far from relaxing as published so be aware, there is also construction work next door that also ruins the relaxing time you were expecting. So glad to be back home to relac
Had a great time at this resort! Food was good, sleeping room was nice, but the staff was incredible. Just to name a few I wanted to highlight: Francisco Yohanny BomBo Johanny Angel Yunelis I cannot wait to visit again!
The staff is rude! The food is ok! The absolute worst part is the service my family stayed at this resort and we have to beg for towels it got to a point where we would have to go take towels from a kart! The staff would lie and say they were going to come and clean the room never showed up! The beach view is amazing and the pool area is really nice but I would never recommend staying here oh and there’s no elevators if you are on the 3rd floor you have to carry your own luggage up!
Check-in Experience Caution Our arrival experience left a lot to be desired. We were delayed at check-in because our assigned butler was not on property — and it was only after I made my frustration visible that the front desk team located a replacement to show us a room. That first room was in unacceptable condition and had to be changed. When the replacement room arrived without towels or washcloths, we waited two hours — only to have the front desk inexplicably deactivate our new room key and attempt to send us back to the original. Fortunately, another hotel team member stepped in and got us properly settled. A seemingly simple request for a room umbrella went completely unresolved throughout our stay, with staff unable to accommodate what should have been a five-minute fix. Butler Service Denis (one "n") — Personal Butler Must Request Denis is, without question, the gold standard of butler service — and quite frankly, he single-handedly saved our vacation. After a chaotic and disappointing check-in experience, Denis's calm, attentive, and detail-oriented approach made all the difference. He checked in on us multiple times each day via WhatsApp and made a point of physically finding us wherever we were on the resort. He provided thoughtful recommendations on beach spots, activities, and entertainment, and consistently made us feel valued, important, and genuinely cared for. We heard from other guests that they barely heard from their butlers. That is a missed opportunity — Denis is the reason the Diamond Club upgrade is worth the investment. Don't just ask for him. Demand Denis. Diamond Club Diamond Club — Overall Conditional Recommendation The Diamond Club experience is highly dependent on who your butler is. We were not greeted with a welcome drink upon arrival — something that is apparently standard — simply because no one communicated it to us. The general staff seemed task-focused rather than guest-focused, and a persistent issue like a missing room umbrella went entirely unresolved. If you are fortunate enough to have Denis as your butler, the Diamond Club tier is absolutely worth the cost. Without a butler of his caliber, the value proposition becomes much harder to justify. Zen Highly Recommended — Go Twice Zen was the undisputed highlight of our dining experience — so much so that we returned a second time. Everything here is fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully prepared. The waitstaff take the time to walk you through each dish and its ingredients with genuine enthusiasm. Then the entertainment begins, building naturally into a captivating display of the chef's culinary mastery — all executed tableside with flair and precision. It is an experience as much as it is a meal. Do not miss this one. Hunter's Steakhouse Highly Recommended Another strong win. We both ordered steak with mashed potatoes, and neither of us was disappointed — the cuts were excellent, cooked to perfection, and the sides were just as satisfying. The service was attentive, the cocktails were well-crafted, and the atmosphere made it a genuinely enjoyable evening. Hunter's is a must-visit during your stay. Gourmet Marché Reliable Favorite As a selective eater, I always approach buffet-style dining with some apprehension — but Gourmet Marché completely put those concerns to rest. Fresh eggs every morning, properly prepared proteins for lunch and dinner, an impressive variety of fruits, vegetables, and sides, and freshly squeezed juices throughout the day. This became our reliable anchor, especially on the evenings when other restaurants fell short. Do not overlook it. El Dorado (Hideaway guests only) Above Average Exclusive to Hideaway guests, El Dorado is a solid option — especially on Mondays, when they host a beach barbecue featuring lobster, beef, chicken, and salmon. We dined there several times and walked away satisfied each visit, though nothing about it was particularly memorable. A reliable above-average choice, but not a destination experience. Mexican Cantina — Splash Skip It The Cantina is fine if you happen to be nearby and hungry, but it is not worth coordinating a shuttle, building your schedule around, or reserving in advance. The food is passable but entirely forgettable. Save your reservations for Zen and Hunter's. Jade Avoid — Health Concern We were served a dead fly in our water. That alone disqualifies this restaurant from any positive recommendation. There is nothing more to say — avoid Jade entirely. Grazie Italian Trattoria Avoid — Quality Failure This was a significant disappointment. The lasagna arrived with stale, hardened noodles that were nearly impossible to chew — and this was not a single offending layer but rather five-plus layers of overcooked, indigestible pasta. My fiancée's dish was equally uneatable. Skip Grazie without hesitation and spend that reservation time at Zen or Hunter's instead. Bars Dips Bar The Bar — Full Stop Dips Bar is the go-to spot on the property and it is not close. Miami Vice, Banana Mama, Piña Colada — every drink is made fresh to order and arrives absolutely delicious. The quality and consistency here are exceptional. Whether you are starting your afternoon or winding down your evening, Dips should be your first stop. Lobby Bar Hidden Gem We wish we had spent more time here. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the cocktails are both well-crafted and satisfying. Do not overlook the Lobby Bar — it deserves a spot in your daily rotation. Diamond Club Bar Solid Option MamaJuana sours and fresh Piña Coladas are the standouts here — made to order and very good. A reliable spot for Diamond Club guests looking for quality drinks in a more exclusive setting. Hideaway Bar Staff Saves It The drinks at Hideaway Bar are kept flowing primarily because of the attentiveness of the wait staff rather than any standout menu offerings. The team here deserves credit — without them, this bar would not hold up. Entertainment The VIBE Team Don't Miss Shout out to the entire VIBE team — and special recognition to Mr. Ecellenté. From MamaJuana making and foam parties to karaoke, bingo, dancing, and live dance lessons, the programming was creative, energetic, and consistently fun. What made it especially enjoyable was the balance — when we wanted peace and quiet, the resort respected that too. But when we were ready to engage, the VIBE team turned every evening into its own little date night. We loved every bit of it. Nightly Shows Worth Attending The nightly shows were a welcome addition to the evening lineup — Michael Jackson tribute, a Magic Show, Circus performance, Rock Show, the White Party, and an Acrobatics showcase. A diverse and well-curated rotation that gave every night a distinct feel.
