Riu Bambu

This resort is amazing, 3rd visit in 3 years and my whole family love it here! We upgraded to a family room, which was cleaned to high standard, fridge restocked and plenty of water, short walk from the TUI exclusive pool, A Ramone is a true gent and remembered us from previous stays, looked after us and is so friendly, as well as Luis. We ate in all resturants other than the tapas, variety for all the family, my preferred was the chinese. Breakfast and lunch always had a good choice, and the sports bar 24hrs is great too. We had a few problems with our door not working but reception got straight on it and sorted for us. I celebrated my 40th and the hotel decorated the room which was a lovely suprise, my sons 7th birthday was celebrated with the drum in the restaurant. Staff are great and we will definitely be coming back!!!!

We enjoyed everything in our stay. Buffet selevtion was always great, staff always very kind with us, our room was dated but clean and a/c worked properly. The beach is very large with so many palm trees it's very nice. Of course there was sargass but there are everywhere now. The animation team was very engaging and fun especially George and Ismael (not sure of the spelling?) that were full of positive energy. We did all 4 Riu Party and the ones with DJ Billy were amazing, unfortunately the white party with the other dj the one that plays at the disco was not so great. Weird song choices for the first half and than he does not know how to mix he just scramble songs togheter and put cheezy sound effects over to try and cover the bad mixes...not so enjoyable. But all parties with DJ Billy were a blast and the professionnal dancers are great. If you love dancing this is the place!

The room had a mildew smell to it..the sheets even smelled after replacing so I slept on top the sheets with a blanket I had to request. The tv was broken .requested a service twice on it before they actually replaced it. Had to request wash rags twice before receiving. There was what looked like a facial hair in one of the puff pastries I bit into. The food overall was equivalent to something like a cruise line. Great options. Mostly Hispanic style for buffet. Restaurants were decent taste. Not like a 5 star Restaurant but good, it beats having to cook. Drinks were decent. Options were good. Bar tenders service was amazing! Rooms were cleaned daily. Friendly staff overall. They do not allow taxi or drivers in without getting approval from management which can take like 10 minutes. The drivers only give so long of a grace period before the charge extra fees or leave. So let riu staff know in advance who is coming to pick you up. Management wasnt present when I requested them. Staff said they dont have one at the moment. The beach is covered in the seaweed during this time of year. But pools were very clean and beautiful. Riu parties are fun and very well planned. Kids area looks great and fun. The toilet is separate with a door. The shower is with a glass door but a Crack between the door and the wall that you can see. And the only place to dress is in the room, in front of everyone else. So careful who you choose to room with. It really was all inclusive.

What a beautiful country! Hotel was lovely and all staff so warm, friendly and willing to assist at any time with such grace and genuine care. Really enjoyed our stay. Special shout out to all the entertainment team, who really go above and beyond every day and night to create memorable moments for all the family (children and adults). They do this with huge smiles, commitment and passion despite the blazing heat and bring the same energy and zest every day to ensure all guests are satisfied! To ALL the staff at Riu Bambu..... Here’s a balanced review that points out both the positives and the negatives: Overall, we had a good stay, but there are definitely a few things to know before you book. The property is beautiful and a good size, but be prepared to walk because everything is spread out. There are two different pools, and the beach was nice. The vendors on the beach were very respectful they would ask if you were interested in excursions or cruises, but once you said no, they left you alone and didn’t pressure you. The food was just average. The buffet was okay, but nothing really stood out. If you want to eat at one of the specialty restaurants, be sure to make your reservation early. You need to be there around 6:30 to put your name on the list, so don’t wait until later in the evening. The entertainment was disappointing and wasn’t something we looked forward to. The drinks were hit or miss depending on which bar you went to. The bartenders in the lobby bar, in particular, didn’t seem very friendly or like they enjoyed their jobs. Customer service there wasn’t the best, and the drinks often felt rushed. Our room had a few maintenance issues. The shower drain didn’t work properly, so by the end of every shower it felt like we were standing in a bathtub. Some of the electrical outlets also didn’t work. Since it’s a tropical destination, seeing an occasional bug wasn’t surprising, but housekeeping did a good job of cleaning the room each day. One thing I did appreciate was that the staff wanted everyone out of the buffet when it closed. If you arrive close to closing time, go ahead and get your plate first. They need time to prepare for the next meal, so that’s completely understandable. Overall, I’d say this is a decent resort. If they improved the food, entertainment, customer service at the lobby bar, and stayed on top of room maintenance, it would make a big difference.
