Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa

My wife and I have stayed at 8 different high end all-inclusives in Punta Cana area. We traveled to Royalton 6/28-7/3 with party of 7 adults and 7 children, ages 7-13. We reserved Diamond Rooms. 2 of the reservations were for Luxury presidential jacuzzi two bedroom suites and 2 were for presidential jacuzzi one bedroom suites. Pros: -Resort was extremely clean and well maintained -WIFI was best of all prior resorts -Never had problem getting seats at pool or beach -More shaded spots at pool than most other resorts -Rooms were large, clean and well maintained -Neighboring Royalton Splash was great for the children. A short walk or tram ride away -We had a butler named Kelvin assigned to each of our rooms. He was fabulous in getting us restaurant reservations. Very friendly and spoke excellent English. -Resort was closer to the airport than many of the other resorts we stayed at -Plenty of towels always available in the room Cons: -Food and drink definitely below par. Buffet was what you would expect. However, there were items that other resorts had that were not here. Mixed drinks did not taste like any mixed drinks I had at home. There was some type of offsetting taste. Perhaps, the ice cubes. The steak restaurant definitely the worst steak house i have ever been in. Steak was like a burned sole of your shoe. On occasions, the food you ordered was not what showed up at your plate. -Ice machines located on each floor of the hotels. However, they never worked. You have to go down to the bar and get it. -NO ELEVATORS -They have a sports bar which could be nice. However, there is no AC in it and you swelter in the heat -When seated outside for dinner there are no overhead fans so again you swelter -Probably one of the biggest complaints is that the number of persons who speak English is low. i understand that the DR is a Spanish speaking nation and we are just visiting. But they should employ people who have some degree of proficiency when they are dealing one on one with tourists. Very frustrating and not like this in any of the other resorts I have stayed at. I had to try to communicate using my basic level of Spanish which sometimes worked and other times did not. -Most of the employees not friendly nor are they are unfriendly..They just seem to go through the motions and want to get through the day. -Evening Shows not the best.

I am very disappointed with the week I spent at this hotel. The service throughout the entire property was extremely poor. From the day I arrived, I had to wait until 5:00 PM to get a room. I was assigned two different rooms, and both were in terrible condition. The bathrooms were dirty, the sheets and towels were stained and unclean, and the beds were uncomfortable. There were cockroaches everywhere. The all-inclusive drinks were also very poor, especially the Canita beer, which tasted like watered-down beer. In general, the hotel staff seemed unprofessional and only paid attention to guests who tipped them. On the day I checked out, I was charged for a spa treatment that I never received. It’s really sad because you can tell this hotel was once beautiful, but it is now in desperate need of major maintenance. The only positive aspect of my stay was the nightly shows, which were entertaining. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will never set foot there again.

Royal bavaro was great. Lots to do, pool and beach excellent. I would recommend upgrading to Diamond as the extras are worth it. Food is ok. Some restaurants are better than others. Service and workers are awesome- everyone is so friendly and happy to help. We had a personal butler named Domingo and I can’t recommend him enough. He was awesome with service, attention to detail, assistance in getting reservations, and just all around wonderful
