Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa

Absolutely a mess- gross food, dirty cups and plates, dirty rooms and a guy named Juan that was trying to make us upgrade to the diamond club but instead started acting like a jerk and unprofessional when we refused to. Avoid this trash resort.

We have not even been there yet, however we have been trying to get hold of the hotel for 10 days. We wanted to explore upgrading our room, we have tried calling, we have tried through the website, emailed and even emailed public relations and media teams, no response whatsoever. We are considering cancelling and going elsewhere at this point since this is the first impression, it’s not leaving us comfortable that if we actually have an issue in resort they will be responsive!! Terrible customer service!! What are you supposed to do! We want to pay extra and clearly they just don’t care that this is our 20th wedding anniversary that we chose to spend with them, along with a birthday! We shall give the hotel 2 more days and then be going elsewhere, which would be a shame.

This was our 7th visit to the Royal Bavaro Hotel. It was another amazing holiday. The staff are so friendly, helpful and can not do enough for you. The hotel is getting better each time we visit, a credit to the Management Team! Please do not let the negative reviews put you off, this hotel is truly amazing, all the staff go above and beyond from the cleaners to the Senior Management Team! Our Butler Edwin was lovely, any request was completed instantly. A big thank you to all the Royalton Bavaro Team, you are so wonderful we can not wait to be back in October for another unforgettable holiday.

By far the worst hotel i have been to in a while. 5 hours for check in. Rooms requested not available (although i had paid starting night before so room would be available) so upgraded to presidential (paying of course). Rooms requested turnover and minibar replacement was a joke. You have to fight for a place in the pool. Another guest took my spot but nothing hotel would do. So i upgraded to private cabana for the rest of the trip. There is a butler for 4 cabanas. Service was spotty. Trying to get restaurants is a chore. Finally went to the steak house… waited 80 mins and food never came. Asked for guest service manager (caterine) but they did not care. All in all a fiasco. Hospitality should be the name of the game.

We just got back from this resort yesterday. A few things I want to let people know. The place is big, so be prepared you will do some walking since most of the restaurants are at the front of the resort. We had diamond club which we highly suggest everyone doing. It cost more but we had a butler and he helped with everything. Room requests or issues, reservations for dinners, making me a spa appt. He did all the of that and it made my stay more relaxing. Next the food.....not that good at all compared to other Royalton resorts. We went to every dinner restaurant besides Oceanside. And none of them really blew me away. They were just alright and extremely salty. The coffee shop coffee was just ok. It took me awhile to find one i liked enough to drink it all (coffee mocha, their hot chocolate was amazing) we also got the private cabana at the diamond club pool and paid for the tomahawk steak and lobster and it was the best food we had there. Everyone loved it. Next the drinks....those were good. We brought our own cups and they we great with the heavy poor and top shelf liquor if you asked for it. The staff games they played though out the day was cool. Not many occurred at the diamond pool, mostly at the main infinity pool. But it was ok since we could just go over there if we wanted to participate. My kids loved the foam party and the inflatable obstacle course. Which I also loved. They also loved the flow rider. We all tried that and it was a good time. Lazy river was good as well. Not enough rafts so I suggest if you like that stuff then bring your own. Tons of people had their own rafts. We got there on a Saturday and the pools were kinda gross and murky for a few days until they finally treated them one evening and the they were good. The ocean was covered in seaweed so we really didnt spend much time down there. They tried their best to clean it up but it was so much they couldn't keep up. I also went down there just me and my daughter and was immediately swarmed by locals putting animals on you and taking pictures and then wanting money. As a female this made me uncomfortable and I didnt like it, I wouldn't go to the ocean after that. The vendors also on the resorts a few days are also pushy. They take advantage when the females are alone and just put jewelry on you and then hassle you until you pay. I hate it. They shouldn't be allowed to do that if they are on the resort. Lastly, the shows every evening were so much fun! We didnt go to all of them but the ones we did the kids had fun and it was very cool. Make sure to sit on the main lobby side as thats the way all the shows face even tho its a 360 degree stage. All in all we will not be going back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves but ultimately the food not being good will make us never want to go to a Royalton again.
