Although this is a good location, with easy access to the beach and many restaurants and shops, overall this is a good 3 star hotel, but lacks the quality I expect from a 4 star establishment, particularly one with Hyatt branding. Check in process was efficient if lacking a little in warmth of greeting. Rooms are described as sea or mountain view; while mountains are visible in the background this is an urban location and the mountain views are foregrounded by buildings of various heights which reduces the visual appeal. The superior double room with balcony was large and clean and the bed provided a good night's sleep on a pleasantly firm mattress. The soft furnishings seemed tired, a throw across the foot of the bed looking like it had seen better days, similarly the cushions. The bedside lighting needs a rethink, the lights on each side of the bed did not operate independently so if you have one person wanting to sleep and another to read it's impossible to accommodate. The room lacked the little amenities I'd typically expect from a 4 star, particularly in an adults only establishment - neither tissues, cotton buds, nor body lotion, just plain soap and toilet paper (and obviously towels). The shower over bath was not powerful enough to be effective. The rooms need a refresh which I believe is in progress on some floors. A charge of 21 euros to use the room's safety deposit box should not be necessary, again not my typical experience of 4 star establishments. Breakfast offered a reasonable variety of options, good to have eggs/omelettes made to order, although something of a pinch point with only one chef manning the plancha. Food available from buffet warming plates has an unattractive appearance. Bacon looks simultaneously dried out and impossible to separate slices, yet sitting in oil. Queues regularly formed at the self service hot drink machines. Similar pinch points at dinner with grilled to order meat or fish requiring queuing at the plancha. The chef does do a good job juggling the orders timely. Again the taste of food is influenced by its appearance and often looked unappetising. Desserts are a relative strength, good selection and sensible portion sizes so you can try one or two without overindulging. Table service was variable, Patricia seemed to neglect some clients and favoured others, Paula (I believe) in contrast was consistently professional and attentive to all. As a regular traveller to Spain it was also the first time I experienced a system of drinks payments where you were required to present your order to a cashier desk as you exited the restaurant in order to settle your account. Not a problem per se, but it would be helpful if this is explained on the first night. I look forward to visiting the area again, however doubtful I will return to this hotel given the many alternatives available.
It's all about the location which, as well as being a bonus, can also be a hindrance depending on your room. Room (305) I can honestly say that I've never stayed in a room where noise was such an issue. Unacceptably bad, really. Old, single glazed windows. Don't have curtains open as you're opposite (about 10 yards away) some apartments that look directly in. All the noise from the street below echoes up like the people were walking past your window. On top of that, 305 is right above the lobby bar so you get to listen to that until it finishes, every night. Glass balcony balustrade didn't do my vertigo much good, either. Couldn't open door in the bedroom to balcony. We assume you should be able to as there was a table and chairs. Odd that you would have 2x tables, 4x chairs in a 'suite' with one double bed. The room itself was, at best, a 'quirky' layout. Nowhere in bedroom to hang clothes. You had to go up 3 steps towards main door for wardrobe and bathroom. Actually quite slippy/dangerous when out of shower. Shower was a decent pressure although, important point, would suddenly change to skin-peelingly high temperature without warning. Air-con worked well, so that was up to scratch. Note to maintenance, get the door between bedroom & lounge sorted - it needs completely re-hanging or shaving down, made a hell of a din trying to open/close it. Breakfast was good although, that said, no better/worse than you'd get at hundreds of other hotels around the UK or Europe. Plan on a decent wait if you want eggs other than scrambled. Entertainment - didn't actually go to watch it but heard it every night ! No comment. Pool - there's a very good reason you don't see many photos of people in the pool. Cold shock isn't what you plan for on holiday. Location - yep a blessing and (depending on your room) a curse. Great for getting out to the front and lots of great bars, food and the lovely promenade. Overall Wife & I were of the opinion we got the room we did as we were only on a 3 night break "Stick them in there" kind of vibe. Put up with it for 3 nights, not to make a fuss, but 100% would have asked for a change had it been any longer. Would we stay here again? No, highly unlikely. If they put as much effort into the rooms as they clearly have in the reception / lobby - which is all very nice - then it might be a different story. One of the most basic functions of a hotel is for a restful, relaxing stay away from home. Restful? Room 305? No chance.
Enjoyed a five night stay half board in a Junior Suite room 115. Excellent location, straight out the gate at the back of the hotel takes you to the promenade. Would stay here again due to the proximity of the seafront. Entertainment each night in the lounge bar which was good. Food is ok as you would expect, good choices, though nothing labelled to say what it was.
Great location for the Seafront. Although the views from the balcony don't show much the rooftop makes up for it. Clean and tidy with a good Breakfast and entertainment in the evenings.
As always The Alasun lago Rojo in Carrihuela one of my favourite hotel vacation great staff atmosphere you name it food entertainment etc. the place to be in Torremilinos I am sure I be back again.
