We visited Ona Marinas de Nerja in spain on the 17th of May 2026, we were a big wedding party of about 50 guest all staying at this hotel, we were all inclusive. The first day we arrived all was OK. Then as time went on it became apparent that they had an issue with us. Day 2 the pool bar refused my grandson who is 6 a bottle of water, and mad him cry, it was a very hot day, this was because he wasnt wearing his wrist band after the receptionist told us only the adults needed them on. Day 3 they again refused me 5 bottles of water for my family of 5 she told me I could only have 3 and slammed 3 on the counter, I then had to send another family member up to get the other 2 bottles. Again it was a very hot day. They got mad at us when our bedroom key got wiped twice as we didnt know we couldnt put the key near our phones. It was a little windy bit still hot, the pool staff started to remove the umbrellas from the tables we were sitting at and said we couldn't have them, they could see we had 3 babies under 1 in their prams using them to keep them out of the sun, they again tried to argue with us and continued to take them with no care for the babies. Day 4 again refused my adult daughter another water and told her the bar was closed and was very rude, to then serve a gentleman behind her a beer. My daughter then argued and eventually got the water. Day 5 check out day - we checked out at 12 and told us they had to cut our wrist bands off and we no longer had access to food and drink we told them our transfer wasnt picking us up until 7pm as our flight was late, they knew we had 3 children with us and told us nothing they could do and it was policy, both me and my husband argued this as we werent told this on arrival so didnt keep any spends back for food. I told them I didnt care about me and my husband eating but to just sort the kids. Eventually the manager gave in and said we could eat and drink until we got picked up. Not long before leaving my children went to the restaurant to eat the children were stopped and told to put the food back as we can no longer eat, I argued that the manager had already agreed we could eat but the restaurant staff were horrible and just kept repeating "not possible" and making a scene infrony of other guests and not letting my children pass treating them like they were stealing. The bar staff called us animals because of a messy table ( with drinks, crisps and ice-cream tubs the kids had, i always clear the table when it became too messy) we were sitting at with our big family group. My grandson waited in the queue like everyone else to get an orange juice and some crisps, but as I watched the pool bar staff ignored him and contuined to serve other guests, I had to go up and tell her he had been waiting to be served, she then served him with a pissed off face on her. The reception staff were rude. Along with most of the restaurant staff, there were only a selective few staff who were very nice and attentive this was the Cleaning staff, one receptionist and one restaurant guy. There was no kids club at any point of the hoilday and the evening entertainment was none existent, there was no music playing in the evenings, very boring as the pool closed at 6pm. The food at lunch and dinner was the same repeatative food every day. I would never visit this hotel again.
Our second stay in May and as the last time, we loved it. It’s so peaceful with a beautiful sea view. No loud music by the pool area, just the sound of water from the sea and the pool, and bird song. Heaven. Instead of feeling you’re in a disco like so many other hotel pool areas, it’s actually possible to have a conversation or listen to your own music or podcasts. Even the animation team is calm; not pushy or screaming in microphones, just friendly and diskret. They are also great with the children! Instead of shouting entertainment, they actually sit down with the children in a lovely garden; talk, play games and sing. Almost like a kinder garden. Unique. The food was so varied and absolutely amazing every day! All you could wish for and more. Top score. The only reason for not giving the hotel full score, is the gym. It was extremely small, hot and no space to move. Maybe it was us, but we couldn’t really make the machines work right, either. Also, the beds are hard. Like sleeping on a trampoline. My wife had back pain after four nights. The rooms could need an upgrade, but were ok. We’ll be back to have rest and lovely nutritious food.
I am extremely fussy when it comes to hotels and after reading some reviews did not know what expect. However the hotel is extremely clean , location is excellent with direct beach access although would recommend you need beach shoes as a pebbly access to the sea.Pool is lovely and no shortage of sun beds. The food is well cooked and well presented. Always something for even the most fussiest to eat.The rooms are a little dated but ours was very roomy with a lovely sea / pool view . The walk to Nerja is approx 30 mins but a taxi is only €7 or €8. Nerja is well worth a visit. A couple of observations but didn’t spoil the holiday - some staff quite grumpy but obviously very busy in high heat temperatures. - drink presentation needs some attention, - pool only opens at 10am , closes at 6pm , seems a short time . -night entertainment poor , needs to be something on every night , we only had 3 evening entertainments in 7 nights. Would I stay here again -probably yes .Dont let the bad reviews put you off.
Wouldn't stay here again staff are very rude apart from cleaning stuff and 2 in the restaurant everyone else was extremely rude, I was all inclusive and bar man in bar made a remark when I went up for another drink saying your drink is gone already when I didn't like the drink I ha and choose to get a different one and he was sniggering with his colleague saw barman refuse a child a bottle of water would not recommend to anyone to stsy here food was bland no taste from anything same stuff everyday
I don’t know how this hotel has such high rating. It’s dated and needs an upgrade. Pool area is shabby and sunbeds are old although no shortage of them but we did go end of May. Staff are miserable! Especially at the pool bar. They are over worked and basically just unpleasant. Food was fine, plenty of salads and fresh fruit. Boring in the evening. About 30 min walk along coast to Nerja which is beautiful! I would never stay here again but would get a hotel closer to Nerja town. Frigliana in the hills is very small but also beautiful.
