Aparthotel Marinas de Nerja

We’re just back from our stay at Ona Marinas hotel. The hotel itself is in a good location, only a few minutes from Nerja in a taxi or bus. It’s a lovely quiet area but close to everything. We had a sea view room and the view didn’t disappoint, it was lovely. Our room definitely didn’t look like the photos on the website, it was smaller and more dated. However it was absolutely spotless. The cleaning staff are amazing. We were half board so breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was great, large selection of everything. The dinner was only ok really, we all managed to find something we wanted but there wasn’t a large variety of options, especially for the kids. Some nights we went into Nerja for dinner just for a change. We had lunch from the snack bar every day and tried everything on the menu, food from there is great. Huge portions and really hot. The chicken wings were a huge hit with the kids. The pool is huge, the kids absolutely loved it. It does get deep very fast though when walking in from the steps in the shallow end. However the pool chairs and surrounding areas really left it down. The chairs were covered in bird poo and grime. They honestly felt a bit icky to lie on. We could cover most of it with the towels but my main issue was the you can only change your pool towels every 3 days! So lying on and drying yourself with towels covered in bird poo really isn’t great for a 4 star hotel. When I approached the lifeguard to request new towels he was unfortunately very rude to me and told me to discuss it with reception. In fairness reception did give me new towels when I went up but it was a bit of an ordeal just trying to have clean towels. The staff for the most part were very friendly though, and we did really enjoy our stay. I’m not sure if I would stay in this particular hotel again though, maybe if they put more effort into the outside areas and it felt cleaner. That was the only thing that really left it down for me, especially when we spend so much time at the pool with the kids.

Stayed here for 9dsys half board. As you approach from outside it looks like a 5star hotel, but it seems thats all that looks to have been upgraded, its a shame as rooms are very very tired,and in serious need of upgrades. Location is great with straight out onto beach area, but personally a little bit away from Nerja, albeit bus straight outside but operates weird timings, and a good 30mins walk to Nerja. Drinks were hotel prices, as is food if you do A.I, yet very little options for kids apart from pizza in the evening or pasta, they do try and accommodate all types of food, and with a good turn around also. As most people have said very little evening entertainment and Management could do with reviewing here, as most guests flee to Nerja. And entertainment with variety if you spend quality money people will stay and use the bar services more wisely. Even a pool table would be an option, pistol shooting,archery, there is loads of unused space which could be utilised. Last night they brought out a 32inch plasma TV for everyone to watch first World cup game, you may want to invest in a 75inch to allow people to see it with updated audio features and place it in a suitable area for all to see. It's a shame as this hotel could be the 4star it strives to be,but a long long way off. I was with my partner,there is an animation team who work their socks off day and night but geared more towards.children which is fine, as previously mentioned needs attention for us mere adults. Staff I found very polite attentive,helpful at all times, so we'll done Managment here. There are small open restaurants heading toward Nerja which have really nice food, and drinks far cheaper then hotel, albeit hotel gives you 10% off voucher on arrival,they could do a little bit better for half board bookings. All in all enjoyed our relaxing time at the hotel, but with a few tweaks regarding what i mentioned, and not just me, most guests repeat what ive said, hopefully Management take on board comments and use the information paying guests provide feedback, then sadly a lot may never return. Very good Hotel. Too bad there are little Airplanes constantly circling over Nerja in low altitude. I don't understand why the responsible people for tourism don't react and try to stop that.

We had a very enjoyable stay here. One of the best things about the hotel is its location. You can walk along the seafront into Nerja, which is a lovely stroll, or catch the Line 3 bus from outside the hotel. The bus is cash only and costs just €1. We booked a one-bedroom apartment with a lateral sea view and were very pleased with it. The apartment was spacious and had a large balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the pool and offering views of the sea. It was equipped with a small fridge, microwave, sink, kettle and hob, which was useful for preparing snacks and drinks. Just be aware that tea and coffee are not provided in the room. There are two handy shops nearby – one on the ground floor of the hotel and another small shop just outside the hotel to the right. The room décor was a little dated, but everything was clean, well maintained and worked perfectly. The beds and pillows were comfortable, there was plenty of wardrobe and storage space, and the bathroom had a great shower and a working hairdryer. Other positives included a free in-room safe, effective air conditioning and daily housekeeping. The pool area was excellent, with a large swimming pool, a separate children's pool and a pool bar. There were always plenty of sun loungers available during our stay. The hotel also has a small gym and spa, which were nice additional facilities. Overall, this is a comfortable, clean and well-equipped hotel in a great location. We would happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Nerja.

Our second stay in May and as the last time, we loved it. It’s so peaceful with a beautiful sea view. No loud music by the pool area, just the sound of water from the sea and the pool, and bird song. Heaven. Instead of feeling you’re in a disco like so many other hotel pool areas, it’s actually possible to have a conversation or listen to your own music or podcasts. Even the animation team is calm; not pushy or screaming in microphones, just friendly and diskret. They are also great with the children! Instead of shouting entertainment, they actually sit down with the children in a lovely garden; talk, play games and sing. Almost like a kinder garden. Unique. The food was so varied and absolutely amazing every day! All you could wish for and more. Top score. The only reason for not giving the hotel full score, is the gym. It was extremely small, hot and no space to move. Maybe it was us, but we couldn’t really make the machines work right, either. Also, the beds are hard. Like sleeping on a trampoline. My wife had back pain after four nights. The rooms could need an upgrade, but were ok. We’ll be back to have rest and lovely nutritious food.
