Iberostar Waves Malaga Playa

l am sharing my experience to provide an honest account of my stay in September 2025. Unfortunately, my visit was overshadowed by a bed bug infestation in my room. I documented the situation with photos and video as evidence. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, the response was very dismissive. They suggested the insects might have come from outside and proceeded to perform a "chemical treatment" without my prior consent. While they eventually offered a room change, this did not occur until the day before my departure, which offered little relief. The situation became even more stressful after returning home, as I discovered the infestation had spread to my personal belongings. This resulted in significant personal expense for professional home treatment and the disposal of several items. Despite providing documentation, the hotel management has been contradictory in their explanations and refused any form of refund. I have since felt it necessary to file a formal complaint with the Spanish consumer protection agency (OMIC). Based on the lack of accountability and the health concerns I encountered, I cannot recommend this property to other travelers.

The staff were so good, from reception to the staff cleaning our rooms, which were lovely. The food in the bar and restaurant was excellent, everyone was so helpful and pleasant throughout. The hotel is beautiful and the facilities are excellent, we couldn't fault it. It is ideal for families, couples and friends and so near the beach. Just don't book with TUI as you will get no support from them whatsoever. We tried to book an excursion, use the APP, the trip was cancelled the day before but no messages. Hotel was taken over by hundreds of football supporters the last two nights we were there, TUI never told us that either. The staff at the hotel told us that our holiday company should have told us as it was near the end of the season and they accept large bookings who take over the hotel.

This was our second visit to Iberostar waves Malaga Playa and just as previously everything was superb. The experience was first class in every way for our 10 day stay, half board, in an apartment. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel is superbly situated on the seafront with mile long promenade walks to the left and right…something we did every day. Visits to nearby Torre del Mar, Torrox Pueblo and Nerja can be done by bus or taxi. Even in early November the weather was superb: sunny, beautiful blue skies and 25c each day. Torrox is known to have the best weather in Europe. Every evening meal was something to look forward to…always excellent and varied themes. Griddled fish and meats were also available every evening. The hard, talented work of chefs is matched by the very hard working restaurant staff who are ALWAYS friendly and courteous. Breakfasts had lots of choices, all excellent quality including an omelette, fried eggs and pancake station that was well managed by a multi tasking member of staff. From experience, deserts tend to be disappointing in hotels in Spain and Italy but this was NOT the case in the Iberostar Waves. It may be they have an expert pastry chef producing the superb desserts. The hotel is very well managed with friendly, hard working staff in every department: reception, housekeeping and grounds and pool maintenance. We are already looking forward to future visits. On arrival the reception staff were very friendly and accommodating, we wanted to change to a two bedroom apartment from our one, they did their utmost to help we were given a gorgeous top floor apartment the day after The pool area well kept , plenty sunbeds, pool bar , snack bar with things sick as fruit, hot dogs and burgers served all day If you go out of the back gates at the pool and turn left there are lots of bars and restaurants all reasonable and very child friendly with parks along the promenade, great for kids while you have a cool drink I went with my daughter and grand daughter, the entertainment was great during the day and evening in the lobby bar with table service drinks I would return here without a doubt

We stayed here late October on a half board basis. Our room was in a separate building to the main hotel which was great for us as it was very quiet day and night. There was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel created by the gorgeous staff that work there. They are kind and helpful and brilliant with children. The room and hotel in general was spotless. The food was delicious and they never seemed to run out of anything in the dining room, despite so many people there. The waiting staff were absolutely lovely. The entertainment team were fantastic, with lots of well coordinated fun activities for children. There is a large outdoor swimming pool which was rather cold! There is also a splash park for children and a small indoor pool which was popular. We liked the situation of the hotel as Torrox has a quiet residential feel to it which suited us well. The hotel is right by the beach and promenade. There are several supermarkets in walking distance of the hotel. Nerja is a short bus ride away and worth a visit. Overall, all the staff here provide a friendly, kind and high quality service, making it such a lovely place to visit. Thank you.
