Iberostar Waves Malaga Playa

We spent an excellent week at this hotel about an hour from Malaga. The hotel is in the very pleasant small town of Torrox which is said to have one of the best microclimates in Europe. The weather certainly did not let us down nor did this excellent Iberostar hotel. We are particular fans of this group. The hotel is traditionally Spanish in design which is very refreshing. Rooms, public areas and the restaurants etc were well kept and spotless. The pool area was most attractive. Food was excellent with a wide buffet choice. Staff were friendly and attentive. All in all we had a very nice time and would recommend both the area and this hotel. We have now travelled to Iberostar hotels on about 6 or 7 occasions and have not been disappointed. Our one minor quibble is that as we travel with Jet 2 we do not receive any Iberostar reward points which seems somewhat unfair and is something which should perhaps be reconsidered

3rd visit to this lovely hotel

2nd visit to this hotel and was even better than the first visit. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay memorable and an especial mention goes to the reception staff who were all amazing when my husband took ill on our last day. They could not have done more for us if they tried. Having them check on you both face to face and via telephone even those that were not on duty at the time meant so much to myself and my husband making a stressful time much more manageable. We will definitely be back

After a 40 min transfer from Malaga airport we arrived at the imposing Iberostar Waves Malaga. It appears to be the only hotel in the mainly residential area of Torrox. The entrance is grand and welcome from reception staff warm. Check in was quick and simple. I liked the wristbands which doubled up as room key. No more searching for room cards. Our room had a small entrance hall which gave extra soundproofing from the corridor, not that there was any noise to complain about. Bedroom had a double aspect, small balcony with table and chairs and views of the sea, which we didn’t expect. Plenty of wardrobe space and storage. Large bathroom which may have been recently refurbished, huge shower. Shampoo and body wash supplied was ok. Air con great and no issues with water supply. We were half board and really enjoyed the breakfast and dinners. Freshly baked bread and rolls always there. Orange juice and Cava in the mornings and sometimes smoked salmon. There was a different variety paella every evening. So much choice of food I couldn’t make my mind up. We paid €4.50 for a glass of wine, about €3 for small bottle of water. We enjoyed the entertainment, Motown night was very good and the 3 Tenors. The pool was lovely, plenty of sun beds. Shallow end with water park for children. Table tennis and assorted games to play. Walk out the gate and your a few steps from a beach a mile long. We enjoyed walking along the promenade in the evening, the bars are much cheaper than the hotel. The whole place was spotless and staff are a credit to the hotel. We had a fantastic holiday and would love to come again.

I have stayed here a few times now. Once, twenty years ago, when it was called the Ferrox, I think. Absolutely still fantastic. Firstly, a really interesting building in its own way. Built in a Moorish property design. The rooms have great views. Housekeeping is absolutely extraordinary. Constant public areas are constantly being serviced. Nothing shows any wear and tear. Maintenance really quick if needed. Spotless (yes, really). Facilities are fantastic. The main pool is amazing. The restaurant is lovely. Constant "live" cooking and refreshments by the kitchen staff of the buffet. The food was really varied. I love the fact that about half a dozen main, cooked food "meats" were available to order at the buffet. Not dozens of warm Bain Marie's of questionable quality. The huge selection of cold starters and sweets was just fabulous. Breakfast was equally a great experience. I loved the wonderful lady, who cooked omelettes to order. A highlight. Lovely soul. Met, greeted, and shown to a table by welcoming staff was very pleasant. I will be back next year if possible. The Beach is a one-minute walk away through a key card gate. Absolutely lovely beach on its own. So many activities to join in if you want as well. Absolutely recommend. The hotel punches way above its VFM weight. THANK YOU.
