Puente Real

Just returned from this hotel and what a disappointment. The location is ok, short walk to the supermarket but no good if you're travelling with any family members with limited mobility. The room I was assigned was very good, not fancy but better than basic. The Entertainment Team were excellent, they were also doing something to keep you entertained, they were all polite but not pushy or in your face. The major disappointment was the food, so bad. There were files on the food in the restaurant and the quality of the food was poor. Even the breakfast was poor, cold and bland. The hotel is not set up for anyone with mobility issues, there were ramps but very narrow and steep. The toilet in the pool bar area were underneath the hotel with again a steep slope. All the staff are hard working and very helpful. If the food was better this would be a very good hotel.

This hotel is in a great location on the sea front with eateries scattered along the front, but not in the centre of the hussle and bustle. The train station is around the corner, about a 15 minute walk, so its really easy to get about. We hopped on a couple of times, once to Malaga and once into Torremolinos centre. You can also get to the airport on the train. We stayed as all inclusive and it was fine. The food is a bit samey, as is our experience of any all inclusive, but there was plenty of it and differed on theme nights. They also had fizz out at breakfast, I've never had Prossecco at breakfast before. The restaurant did sometimes feel quite busy, but then they had staff available sorting you a table so it was never an issue. And u could vary your eating times to avoid the rush. The all inclusive alcohol was fairly standard too, and you get a token to exchange for a drink so u can only get one drink each at a time, but that was fine for us. Lager, pop, wine and Sangria were on tap so no queueing at the bar. The pool areas were nice and clean and not too busy that u couldn't get a bed later in the day. Activities were laid on by the entertainment team, again all very standard. There was plenty of snacks between restaurant times which we found to be of a very good standard compared to other all inclusives and also a lively selection of ice creams and lollies. The evening entertainment was the only thing that let it down for us. It was all in house and was very basic, mainly geared up for the kids, of which we had none! So we tended to go out after our dinner. The rooms were really nice with air con and a side sea view from the balcony. Couldn't fault the room apart from we also overlooked a car park that doubled up for the local wee squatting area on the Saturday night. All the youngsters were at the bar/restaurant over the road and were all coming into the car park to take a leak! Not sure why, but we counted about 80 people over a couple of hours. We were curious, so went to the bar for a drink on another day. I went to the loo and they were just awful, so then it made sense! Overall we had a great holiday with nothing to complain about.

Reception is always busy so we didnt have a wait of less than 20mins. They should have separate check-in queue or more staff. All the hotel staff are helpful friendly. Room was clean and spacious but bathroom tired/dated. Choice and availability of drinks is really good (beer, wine, sangria, water and fizzy drinks on tap). Food availability is good (snack bar open for the hours between meals). Food variety for people without allergies is good (my meat eating partner was very happy) but for myself (vegan/dairy intolerant) it was rubbish. The labels look clear at first but can be misleading. They put meat in everything (bean salad with turkey, tomato salad with tuna and potato salad with ham) and had minimal non-meat options. A couple of evenings they had drinks/music on the patio area below our balcony but we were shocked to be told it was solely for the French. Evening entertainment was lacking. 2 pools (1 quieter one that the entertainment team didnt bother). Both good size but lacking in sun loungers. The quieter pool is surrounded with astro turf which burns your feet. They offer free photoshoots and the photographers are lovely but photos are expensive to purchase. I would either stay again but eat at outside restaurants, or stay again if it was cheaper.

Entertainment team are great. Really fun. Saray great. Very friendly and gets everyone involved. Lots to do.
