Riu Monica

We're just back from another holiday at this fantastic hotel. We stayed here in October 2025 and couldn't wait to return. I requested the same room (420) and they reserved it for us. This hotel is beautiful, extremely clean with fantastic staff. They are always smiling and happy to do anything for you. The food is excellent with so much choice every day. The location of this hotel is really good, close to the beach and a short walk from the town. Lovely little bars across the road in particular The Ship. This area is very peaceful at night, we were able to leave our balcony doors open and listen to the sounds of the sea whilst going to sleep. I'm looking forward to returning yet again.

Very good almost perfect but we could smell cigarette smoke coming on our balcony and drifting into the room,had to close the patio doors. Pool sunloungers,well it was hilarious watching desperate people waiting before 8:00 am to reserve their sunloungers most didn't come back for 2hrs. 1 couple 3.5 hrs,some woman actually ran. The hotel needs to do something about this when beds in a morning are left with just towels on.😂

Cannot fault this hotel. The food choice was plentifull, the staff were FANTASTIC, the cleanliness was awesome. Entertainment a little dissapointing but no reason to downgrade my review as we made our own entertainment. If i have any complaints its the other guests that caused them. We dont just have the usual sunbed issues but now a rush for the upright chairs aswell. I have a bad back and cannot get off a sunlounger so need a chair so now the early morning grabbers take them aswell. If it wasnt for my wife stopping me i would have randomly taken the reserved ones as we refuse to join the early morning rush. Hotels really need to sort this issue. And, people using their phones on loudspeaker hands free. I came very close to losing it over this issue....WHY..? Finally, bloody bad manners, no thank you , or please, or even pushing in front of you at food stations. Ive seen it all whilst here and have decided i dont like the public. Another great stay at this hotel . Our 6th visit over the decade . Not been in April/ May before but overall decent weather , albeit very cloudy on one and a half days , but no rain! As always the entire staff are very hardworking and fantastic. Great breakfast and evening meal, with loads of fresh fish options ! Used the indoor pool and enjoyed it , although the gym is very dated now. Not much has changed since our first visit 12 years ago. Didn’t see the evening entertainment much so can’t comment. Watched the champions league football locally on 3 evenings in the local Jamaica bar and CK’s bar around the corner . Recommend both. The Ship opposite is a nice bar , great staff and great priced drinks . Ruskins also offered a great lunch . Nerja is a lovely town and I’d recommend this hotel .

Never again,I read the reviews about this hotel and they were all positive and booked.The hotel seems like an old folks home and the entertainment was a complete joke.
