Riu Monica

A stunning hotel with amazing staff. Everything is exceptionally clean, and the food and drinks are fantastic. The only downside was an older couple staying at the hotel who repeatedly gave younger couples dirty and judgmental looks, particularly when they were wearing bikinis or certain types of clothing. Their behaviour made us feel uncomfortable and judged. This was disappointing, as the hotel itself and the staff were otherwise absolutely amazing.

We again, visited the RIU Monica last month,and were as previous,very pleased throughout our stay.Very friendly and courteous staff,from the reception staff,especially Ann Marie,who offered her help,after having an unfortunate accident in the Dining Room at Dinner,along with immediate Support from Sue the TUI rep,to say once again Thank you to you both.I also would add,that cleaning staff and other employees within the Hotel deserve our praise. --Once again,there was no improvement on the Sunbed queue race for the 08.00 start..We opted to go to the beach,each day!!!

We have just returned from our second stay at this hotel and we hope to be back again soon. Everything runs like clock work in the hotel, it is spotlessly clean throughout and the food and drinks are excellent. The staff are very friendly and work tirelessly to ensure guests have a great time. There were always plenty of sunbeds available. We thought the entertainment had improved from last year, and we particularly enjoyed Hector, the Hit Bros and Il Sono. We had a sea view room and the balcony views were stunning. The rooms are well equipped and designed.

Great hotel! Friendly staff, especially lourdes, alex in restaurant and marco bar staff, food very good tasty and lots of choice, room fantastic 418, hotel very clean, great location, entertainment couple dodgy singers - but hector bannon was brilliant- would definitely return! Thank you

As is generally reported this is a good hotel. We booked the larger room that slept 3 (728) & it was very spacious and clean (& quiet) with a sea view. We enjoyed the buffet so much we didn't try the Spanish a la carte. Entertainment OK. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. The location is good, a 12 minute walk into Nerja with great shops/tapas. The things we didn't like - Although there are loads of sunbeds most of them are under a shade - it was one of those overhead blind type set up's. The entertainers all had great voices but they all sang the same songs so it became boring. (Elvis was good) There are no bars to walk to on the prom, there are a couple of restaurants but I wouldn't want to take up a table just having a drink. It was the same across the road - all restaurants except the ship. The bar tender there was a nice guy but with cheap plastic uncomfortable chairs it was not somewhere we wanted to linger. The beach was absolutely mobbed, you could barely walk along it. Whether it was the time of year (Aug) not sure. Nerja itself was also manic, too busy for us with difficulty getting a seat in the tapas bars & restaurants. Again maybe due to the time of year but we didn't find it relaxing or inviting, everything was a hassle. Frigiliana was very pretty but bear in mind if you go by taxi (13 euro one way) there are only 4 taxis in the village & you may have a wait to get back to Nerja.
