Club Cala Romani

I don't normally leave reviews, and I really don't like leaving negative ones, but this time I feel like I should share our experience — even if it saves someone else from spending a week feeling disappointed with their holiday. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at Club Cala Romani and I wouldn't recommend this hotel. For an all-inclusive holiday, we were surprised by how many things you still have to pay extra for. WiFi costs €20 per device for one week, which quickly adds up when travelling as a family. The drinks cup system was also poorly explained and honestly quite frustrating. You pay a deposit for reusable cups, but only one cup per person is refundable. If you pay for additional cups, you don't get that money back, but this wasn't explained to us when we paid. And believe me, you will probably want more than one cup because they are ridiculously small. The queues for drinks can be huge, with only one person working at the bar most of the time, or two at best, which really isn't enough for a hotel of this size. Standing in a long queue just to get one tiny drink at a time gets old very quickly. Housekeeping was probably one of the biggest frustrations. Towels were taken from our room but not replaced, toilet rolls were left completely empty without new ones being provided, and the bathroom bin wasn't always emptied. We constantly had to go to reception to ask for basic things that should normally be provided as part of the room service. There were a couple of genuinely lovely and helpful members of staff, but unfortunately we found quite a few others unfriendly and unhelpful. At times it felt like the level of friendliness depended on whether you had tipped, which wasn't something we expected from an all-inclusive hotel. The choice of food was actually good, and you could always find something to eat, so I can't complain about the variety. However, the freshness and quality were another story. On a few days the chips seemed to have been reheated and tasted awful. We also noticed tomatoes being served in the morning that very clearly appeared to be left from the previous day. Having worked with food myself, this was something I noticed straight away and it made me question how some of the food was being stored and reused. I can't say what happened behind the scenes, but based on what was being served, it certainly didn't look or taste fresh. I do have to say fair play to the entertainment team — they were brilliant. Friendly, energetic and genuinely putting effort into making sure everyone was having a good time. Honestly, the entertainment was the highlight of our holiday and probably the only part we were consistently happy with. Overall, this just wasn't the relaxing all-inclusive experience we expected. Between the unexpected extra charges, poor housekeeping, constantly having to go to reception for basic necessities, long queues at the bar and inconsistent food and customer service, we spent far too much of our holiday feeling frustrated. I don't expect any hotel to be perfect, and normally I wouldn't even bother writing a review, but after our experience I felt it was worth sharing so other families know what to expect before booking. Sadly, we wouldn't return.

A wonderful place, with a vary good animation team that makes us a joyful stay in the structure. In particular Max who with is energy makes this holiday unforgettable!

Don’t be put off by the bad reviews. I’ve just returned after my 4th stay here and again didn’t disappoint. The staff were friendly and attentive. The animation team were brilliant (especially Mia) my room was lovely and cleaned daily with fresh towels and linen. The food yes was basic but catered for everyone (what more do you expect from a 3 star all inclusive) the only criticism I have is to maybe have bigger drinking cups. Overall had a brilliant time and cannot wait to come back again next year.
