We have just returned from Globales Maioris, travelling as a family of 11 aged from late 60's to pre-school age. Having read many of the reviews beforehand, we did have some trepidation about what we could expect, however we were thankfully surprised to find that the hotel exceeded our expectations. Yes, the hotel is in a quieter residential urbanisation, however within easy walking distance there is a decent row of restaurants and bars, along with a few shops. We used a few of the restaurants, and had delicious meals, and the shops are well stocked. But it's worth bearing this in mind if you prefer a bit more nightlife, as if that's the case, this hotel may not be for you. The coast is approx. 15 minutes walk from the hotel, but this isn't a family-friendly beach (although offers stunning scenery). The hotel provides a shuttle (booked a day in advance) to either Palma or S'Arenal, with pick-up at 10am and return at 4pm. If you don't think you want to spend that much time at the beach, you can get a public bus just outside the hotel, or alternatively it's approx. €15-20 for a taxi into S'Arenal. Back to the hotel though: - As with other reviews, the housekeeping team at the hotel should be highly commended. The entire hotel was absolutely immaculate throughout our week's stay, both in our rooms and in communal areas. - It can get a little slippy in the corridors around the snack bar, around the pool(s) and occasionally in the restaurant. There are plenty of wet floor warning signs about, but we did see some people slip and fall quite hard. This could be minimised if people followed the signs that direct you to not enter the snack bar whilst wet! - The snack bar food was a little hit and miss, although the kids enjoyed the cookies and fruit from there daily, and on one occasion some of our party had breakfast from there which was ok. - The pools are salt water (which is nice) and cold, however after a bit of time on a lounger, this is refreshing. They do warm up a bit as the day goes on. - Ample loungers were available around the pools during our stay, but imagine this could become trickier in high-season. - Drinks on all inclusive are a little syrupy, but they were palatable enough to get along with. Raúl the bartender was probably our family's favourite, as he had a bit of a laugh with us whilst serving. - The animation team work so hard. They's on the go from first thing in the morning until last thing at night. All of the entertainment was in English and French whilst we were there, and the kids in our group had no problem getting involved with the activities and mini-disco. Some of us even got involved with the energetic aqua sessions run daily! - The restaurant is ok. At times it was a little tricky seating 11 of us, but we found the knack to it was to get there early! There was a reasonable variety of food, but I can see that it could become repetitive if you stay for more than a week. There are fresh cooking stations at each sitting, and we personally didn't find any of it particularly cold as others have commented. On a bit of a negative, there were some issues with a lack of cutlery at times, a lack of glasses for drinks, drinks machines not working, and food labelling (desserts labelled as Chicken Tikka, for example), but on the whole, as a bunch of fussy eaters, we didn't go hungry. On a personal note, I think it would be nice if the hotel could perhaps publish a menu for the week somewhere. Certain evenings were themed, but with no prior knowledge of this, it was pot-luck that you'd find something to enjoy on some of those nights. Having detail of the themes at least would allow families to plan easier. The only other concern I could say was there were issues with the lifts in our block (block C) during our stay. We were on the 4th floor, and one of our party struggles to take stairs. At certain points both of the lifts were not functioning. I will say that the hotel staff were quick to try and rectify this each time it happened, but one of the lifts did remain out of action for the latter part of our week, with the other being a little inconsistent. This made it tricky, when they're quite small lifts, and you're trying to take 11 cases and a buggy down at the end of your stay! Overall though, we would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a family friendly break in a quieter resort. Give it a try, and don't be put off by some of the negative reviews - you may well be pleasantly surprised.
Definitely not 4 star hotel, all the glasses and plates are dirty you can physically see/feel they are no clean. In the restaurant there was hardly any variety mostly pork every day, cross contamination was shocking I saw a worker cutting up pepperoni pizza with the same cutter then using for veggie option. Me and my son felt unwell for a few days which we think was due to hygiene reasons. We have stayed at loads of 4 star hotels and this was by far the worst, so many people complaining at the hotel about food options and not enough staff for the hotel.
We recently stayed at this hotel from Tuesday to Tuesday as part of a group of 15 people travelling together. Overall, the hotel was clean and well-maintained. The reception area was always spotless, and the cleaners worked hard and were visible every morning. Our bedroom was generally clean, although we did notice a few ants during our stay, which can happen in warmer climates. There were plenty of sunbeds available around the pool, which was a big positive as nobody in our group struggled to find somewhere to sit. However, we felt the daytime atmosphere around the pool could be improved with some background music, as it was often very quiet, particularly around the middle of the main pool where we spent most of our time. The biggest issue for us was the dining experience. There did not seem to be enough staff during breakfast and dinner service, and on several occasions we ended up clearing and cleaning our own table before we could sit down. The snack bar was convenient, but some of the food was either cold or had become quite hard after being left out for a while. The evening entertainment was quite limited unless you wanted to be inside the club area. Not everyone enjoys very loud music and organised games, and there were not enough tables and chairs outside for guests who wanted a quieter evening. On several nights, our group had to sit on sunbeds as there was nowhere else to sit. Unfortunately, the food selection was very repetitive throughout the week, with no themed nights or much variation. As a result, our group chose to eat out on five of the seven nights we were there. There is a lovely little courtyard area around a 10-minute walk from the hotel, which we enjoyed visiting. However, there is not a great deal to do in the immediate area. The walk to the beach is quite long and rocky, making it less accessible for some guests. The hotel offers a free bus to Palma, which was a nice addition, although it was very busy and extremely hot both on the journey there and on the return trip. The return journey took around 50 minutes. Overall, we had an enjoyable holiday with our group and appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel and the availability of sunbeds. However, improvements to the food variety, dining service, daytime atmosphere, and evening seating would greatly enhance the guest experience.
Great hotel, very clean, family friendly! The rooms were lovely and big with very comfortable beds! We would advise to take a travel kettle as none in the rooms. Entertainment very good day and night.. All the staff are very hard working.. The restaurant had plenty of choice apart from gluten free options! The first night we arrived did look like carnage as the tables were not being cleared. Never had any issues after that night all very good.. The main pool and kids slide pool was great, can get busy at times.. All in all a fab family holiday
A lovely clean and welcoming hotel & staff. 3 blocks of rooms well spaced out and plenty of sunbed and pool area. Lots of shade available with umbrellas and other shaded areas and pools nice and clean. Rooms cleaned daily. We had a double (2 singles put together) and a pull out sofa bed for our daughter which was a little uncomfortable due to thin mattress & so used extra duvets under it. Staff on reception very good English vocabulary and very approachable. Situated in residential area with regular local bus stop at front of hotel so great for getting out and about. The closest beach is down a very rocky hill - bit of a trek but amazing view and great for snorkeling. 2 other small coves a bit further along. Mainly visited by locals. Again absolutely beautiful. Nearest full sandy beach L'Arenal. The hotel offers free bus service but bookable the day before. Free bus to palma provided too twice a week but we used the local bus at our convenience that was regular all day long. Nice chilled atmosphere at hotel, nice mix of adults & family's. Entertainment provided in the day and evening if you want it. Trips can be booked through hotel or with your travel operator. The food at the hotel is plentiful for main meals but can feel very 'samey' after a few days. The snack bar offers salad, burgers, biscuits but is not so appealing, a bit chewy or dried up at times and luke warm. Personally the only improvement I feel could be to offer food theme nights to feel like more variation and the snack bar food to be fresher and hotter.
