Iberostar Selection Jardin del Sol Suites

Recently stayed here on a short 3 night break for our anniversary. We booked only b&b in a non SP suite,  but since booking last year decided that we'd be open to upgrade to half board, All inc or SP on check in, if any deal was offered? Check in was nice,  leisurely seated chat with glass of cava, staff lovely and welcoming. However, we were not asked if we wanted to upgrade anything, neither board or to SP, so we didn't bother. We were on the top floor just along from reception, in a suite with bedroom. The room itself was ok, although all the dark tiles and brown wood seemed a bit dated these days. A room refresh to all white would work wonders. We stayed at Verdemar last time,  take out the whirlpool bath and it's basically the same room, the hotel felt special but the room didn't. The bed was huge,  2 singles pushed together, we loved the ceiling fan, silent and very cooling at night so didn't need the AC going all night to sleep, separate AC in bedroom and main room which both worked great. Mini fridge was pre stocked with few beers and cokes etc and the prices weren't that bad. Tv had a few UK channels if you need it,  bbc, itv, etc. I liked that the safe and wifi were included,  always feel it's a right con when you pay hundreds to go on holiday,  then get charged extras for simple basics like that.  The balcony was small, but usable, and in the sun all day, with amazing views across the bay. Problem with being on this floor, was the view directly down was just the huge SP balconies below and people on sun beds or in their hot tubs. Had no view of the pool area etc. Also all the balconies had lights fixed on from dusk till midnight every night that you could not turn off, the place was lit up like the starship enterprise, which attracted bugs. Would rather have control of the balcony light. The standard pool was lovely and warm every day, with a very quiet and chilled atmosphere, only ever half a dozen or so in the pool, always near silent,  very laid back and relaxing, with no kids running about screaming, just the instagram famous resident ducks. There are random signs by the sun beds saying you can only reserve them for 45 mins, but this was not enforced at all,  people put towels down well before 8am then went up for breakfast. Beds were nearly gone from 9am thru to the early afternoon, with only some becoming free around 3pm onwards, which was fine for us anyway as we usually go out in the day and go to the pool later anyway. Breakfast had loads of variety, but was mainly continental, the only sausage were tiny grey frankfurters which i did not like at all, and the bacon was heavily smoked. Everything else though, was lovely. Loads of happy staff about, singing to themselves and all very chatty. Was nice to enjoy a relaxed breakfast sitting out on the terrace overlooking the bay. Overall we had a lovely stay here. The hotel is great, set in lovely surroundings, nice and quiet but just 15 mins walk from the resort, plenty of places to eat nearby if you are only b&b, the staff are amazing, all really friendly and will do anything to help, the room was nice but a bit basic. The only one gripe for us was that the room doors don't have any soft close hinges or elbows etc to stop them slamming shut, and boy do they slam big time. Being woken at 1am by the massive bang of your neighbours door slamming shut when they come back every night isn't great. Aside from that we had an lovely few days, and would happily return here again.

My husband and I have just returned from a the night stay at this hotel. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. A very friendly welcome on reception with cava and strawberries offered. Lovely gesture 🥂 We were thinking of upgrading but were still undecided but after not being offered this at check in we decided against it. Our room was on the top floor and the views of the bay are stunning! Only thing we didn't like was overlooking the hot tub rooms below us. If we had paid extra for one of these rooms I certainly wouldn't have felt comfortable being so overlooked. Breakfast was by far the best buffet breakfast we have ever experienced with the amount of choice and the quality of the food. One of the waiters was so happy, singing every morning as he worked, always chatty. Lovely to see. The pool area was so nice, very quiet although sunbeds do get reserved early, sunbeds were nicely spread out though and plenty of shady spots if needed. You could enter the sea from the hotel either by going down a ladder or jumping in. The sea is quite deep here. The pool itself was a lovely temperature and we enjoyed it early evenings. The addition of the resident duck family was quite cute 🦆 After deciding not to upgrade to all inclusive we ate out in the evenings. The restaurants near to the hotel do look a little shabby but the food was delicious, especially El jardin and Gaucho. Further down towards the strip were some more good restaurants.. we ate in Xaloc and Pizzeria Italia. Both good food. We didn't rate the entertainment very highly in the hotel on the nights we were there but it was nice to have live music whilst you enjoyed a drink. A lovely experience at this spotlessly clean friendly hotel.

Beautiful scenery and views. Immaculate hotel, with the friendliest and most professional staff. High quality food and drinks on the all inclusive.

My husband and I are looking forward to our fourth visit to this lovely hotel in September. We love the hotel and the staff are amazing. Just one thing spoils it for us…. Given that the majority of the clientele are of the older generation, the lack of a handrail to access the infinity pool is a serious risk issue and an accident waiting to happen. For this reason our last four holidays have been to other hotels but we will return in September in the hope that a small handrail has been installed.
