Iberostar Waves Cala Domingos

Recently returned from a 4 night break at this great hotel. Food is the best All inclusive I’ve eaten at having used A/I over the years of my children growing up. Great to see hotel catering for small babies providing baby food jars. This hotel id say is aimed for parents with small children and toddlers. Our room was located right in the middle of camp, the grounds are huge set on woodlands/nature reserve.. to get to reception and main restaurant it was 8 min walk up a very steep hill and to get to other end which has another pool , snack bar, Mexican restaurant and evening entertainment & beach that was a 10 min walk the other way , we are fit and well but could imagine disabled or older people struggle, yes there’s golf buggies and little trains going back and too but being smack bang in the middle on the left side of reception we found it hard catching this service as it seemed to run other side of brook so was always ended up walking back and too we walked between 10-15k steps a day plus in burning hot sun was hard. Also sorry to moan but we are 2 female travellers who arrived early hours of the morning, on check in I asked if there was water in the room, I was them given a glass in reception which I clearly didn’t want I just wanted to get to bed as it was 2:00am in morning , got to room and driver told us to use water unit which is outside room, it was dark and we had no clue where the so called water unit was so had to wait until daylight to walk about which yes was only 50 metres away but in the dark we didn’t want to go looking on first night , it would of been perfect if water was filled up for us for arrival anyway other than that a really pleasant stay. Staff were all the friendliest , happiest staff in a hotel we’ve ever meet.

The food was good with a good variety. The rooms are very clean and staff are very friendly. There are plenty of facilities such as 2 bars and 2 snack bars as well as 2 restaurants. The resort is very large and there are golf buggies to transport you however they are infrequent at times and subsequently arrive full , however this isnt always the case . If you are in good health it is walkable but can take some time. It is located beside the beach which is lovely and the water is very clean and was warm. The entertainment in the evening finished often before 22.00 and wasn’t very good , it was varied however. The resort is peaceful at night and the beds are very comfortable.

We have just returned from 10 nights at the Iberostar Waves Cala Domingos. We had a lovely time with our 2 year old son. But there were some good and bad bits! First of all, the resort is beautiful, set in a ravine that meanders down to the small beach at the bottom of a steep hill. From some places there are lovely views of the sea (but not many). The staff were great, really friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. From the catering, cleaning, entertainment, life guards and especially the buggy drivers! All made the stay really enjoyable and easy going. The food was really good everyday, plenty of variety for breakfast, lunch was samey at the pool bars but nice enough and the evening meals were always nice with some good themed nights. We ate at the Mexican themed restaurant once too which is a lovely setting but not many places to sit out of the sun, so be careful with little ones. The room was nice enough, we had a ‘deluxe’ bungalow which was just enough space with the 2 of us and a 2 year old and a cot in the room too. However, there are some negatives that need to be considered when looking at this hotel, some of which would have put us off if we would have seen before. Firstly, the tiles around the main and kids pool are very dangerous. They are extremely slippery when wet. Our little boy slipped numerous times and hit his head. We witnessed countless other kids (and adults) fall too. When looking back on reviews on here, I can see someone had a bad injury back in 2024 because of this, and it still hasn’t been sorted. So beware. I raised this issue when I was there and was assured it was a ‘none slip’ area. There is a metre around the kids pool of ‘none slip’ flooring (which is still slippery) and then porcelain tiles everywhere else. It’s these tiles that are bad. I would say to make sure your kids have water shoes on all the time to stop them falling, there wasn’t any for sale at the local shop when we was there. As well as the pool area, the showers in the room are also really slippery. The paint is very sticky when dry, but as soon as you get water on it (or soap) it’s like an ice rink. Again, our son fell and hurt his back on day 1. When I mentioned this, and asked if there was any rooms with baths, they sent maintenance men to look at it who said it was the same as all the other showers and I was told it’s not slip flooring again and if they had to do anything about it, it would be messy and a lot of work so they sent us a baby bath instead to wash our 2 year old in!! By way of compensation for this, they offered a free upgrade the next time we stay at this hotel. Somewhat of a kick in the teeth as we heard the people next to us at check on get a free upgrade for no reason!! There isn’t much privacy in the bathrooms either, the sink is outside the main bathroom area and in the bedroom, so noisy with a little one asleep. Then the toilet is behind a glass door, so if you are a couple on holiday, be prepared to hear all sorts!! All the bungalows have a little terrace area. Ours was facing the road and didn’t get any sun after lunch, it was also taken up by a tree and had no view whatsoever. So was a waste of space really. It was also at the top of a little steep hill and had several large steps from that to the room. It was not child friendly at all. Some rooms had nice terraces with fences around them, this one wasn’t good at all, so avoid room 102 if you can! There aren’t enough sunbeds around the main pool for the amount of people staying there. It’s a bit of a stereotypical fight for sunbeds from first thing in the morning till mid afternoon. After that it quietens a bit. But if you do get a sunbed, parasols are the next issue and are like gold dust. So again, if you are with little ones, be prepared not to get a shaded area. The other pool is a bit dangerous for young kids, the sunbeds are less than a meter away from the edge of the deep pool and the same around the kids section. There isn’t much room to stop them jumping straight in. There is also a horrible smell of sulphur around that area 24/7, which is off putting. The beach is nice but small, and is NOT part of the hotel, so you need to pay for a sun lounger with a parasol. There are some recycled parasols up near the main pool though if you can get one. Finally, be prepared to do some hill walking to get around if you don’t want to wait for the buggies. There are some big steep hills to navigate to get around the resort, so they do have a lot of buggies going around to help which is great. There are 2 large ones and some smaller ones. Sometimes they are full at peak times, so you have to wait 10-15mins, but we don’t mind walking so didn’t find it too much of a problem, but most of the time it was no more than a 5 min wait! It’s a shame about some of these issues, especially the dangerous floors. These would stop us going back if anything, which is a shame, as I think the resort has so much going for it and it was a lovely holiday!

The best food and drink. Wonderful, friendly staff. Spotlessly clean room although tight for space. Lots of slips and falls around the pool area.

We just returned from 10 nights at Cala Domingos, it was brilliant. On arrival we were offered a drink (soft or sparkling rosé) and our daughter an ice lolly. We had booked a beach level bungalow but enquired about upgrades on check in as I was a bit concerned about the space (there were four of us). I’m so glad we did as they had a family room available from our second night for not too much extra cost which was just perfect. The buggies are super frequent so don’t stress about getting up or down, and the kids absolutely loved them. You might have to wait 5 minutes during busy periods but you’re on holiday, there’s no rush. The food is some of the best we’ve ever had from a buffet (and we’ve stayed at Ikos!), we didn't miss the fact that there was no a la carte. Drinks fantastic and plentiful, not cheap. Daytime entertainment is hilariously varied, we particularly enjoyed a mini cirque du soleil-esque show that rocked up at 11am in the morning, and a fun fair session on another day (with a dunk pool and bucking bronco). There were little activities for babies and younger children dotted around and a kids club space with air con to escape to. If you enjoy sightseeing it might not be the place for you unless you have a car as the buses only run to Cala d'Or, Manacor and Porto Cristo, but you can tap in tap out and there are timetables and they're really easy to use. If you want a fly and flop it's ideal. Sunbeds - we didn't go in school holidays so I can't confirm if this changes but we didn't really have any issues. No need to put a towel down at 6am. Managed to get a bed by kids pools in PM easily. Special shout out to Oscar, Bintu making the best omelettes and Carmen making the best iced coffee at the pool bar (and everybody else). All in all I highly recommend. My advice would be to book a family room if you have more than one child. Beach bungalow rooms 11-15 (and maybe some others we didn’t see) are up a bit of a gravel path and then steps so not easy access for a pushchair. The family rooms overlooking the reception are remarkably quiet, we were right above the restaurant and didn't hear a thing. Only a bit of music in the early evening but that wasn't an issue at all. Room was also super clean as was the resort and I loved the trees and vibes.
