Iberostar Waves Cala Domingos

Our 5th visit to Cala Domingos and we were welcomed back in the traditional Cala Domingos style. All guests are greeted at reception/check-in with a glass of prosecco or something non-alcoholic if preferred. As our family has evolved over the past 5 years, we have experienced most of the accommodation on offer. We have always found the accommodation to be clean, having the most comfortable beds and efficient air conditioning. As spending time in our room is not the priority when on holiday, we have been pleased every visit with the accommodation provided. Tip: This year we had a garden view bungalow. There wasn't a mirror/dressing table in the bedroom for getting ready for the evening, only a mirror in the bathroom which became quite steamed up after using the shower🚿. All other accommodation types have had a mirror in the bedroom in the past. Recommend taking a vanity mirror. Or even better, a mirror🪞on the wall (near an electrical socket) in the bedroom, would be a helpful addition by Iberostar. The food is always of good quality both in the main restaurant and El Turo and food is plentiful. We booked the El Turo restaurant several times during our stay. Easy to book on the Iberostar app. We particularly like the BBQ/grill in the restaurant. Views overlooking the sea, make for an enjoyable location and a great atmosphere. Snacks available such as crisps, nuts, olives are appreciated in the bars. This year, we enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere (and live acts) in the Tennis Bar. Previous years we have made the most of the entertainment on the main stage but found the entertainment programme had not vastly changed from last year. Staff are exceptional; we recognise the same staff year on year who also welcome us back. Teresa, Óscar, Pablo and Arriana are always a delight to see and go out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as ever! The resort is well maintained and cared for. Plenty of water stations are available for refilling the carafes provided. Recycling ♻️ and sustainability is a priority across the resort. We enjoyed both swimming pools during our stay. Top pool for cooling off and the lower pool for longer swims 🏊‍♀️. Expect children in both! This is a family hotel and has served our family well over the years. It would possibly not suit couples looking for a quieter experience. The location is remote, which we like. Again, this may not suit guests wanting to explore Majorca. Although there is a frequent bus 🚌 service for those wanting to leave the resort. The cost of our annual holiday, increases year on year as to be expected. However, rooms we have previously stayed in (Double Room with Terrace) have been recategorised. From observation, it appears the rooms now have a private deck with higher quality sun loungers. On looking at the price of these rooms, they have significantly increased in cost. Our hope is that Cala Domingos will not price themselves out of the market for guests such as ourselves, forcing us to look elsewhere. We very much hope to return!

We stayed here as a family alongside our adult relatives and nephews. While it is undeniably a child-focused resort, we still had a fantastic time as adults without young kids of our own—though I wouldn't recommend it if you are strictly looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway. The experience started on a high note with pink fizz for the adults and ice cream for the kids on arrival. We were given smart wristbands that acted as room keys, which made getting around without a keycard effortless. Our room was clean, well-air-conditioned, and featured one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. When we noticed the fridge wasn't working, the staff fixed it quickly after we reported it. Instead of bottled water, a glass jar is provided to refill at convenient stations right outside the building. The food and beverage options were consistently solid. The main buffet was plentiful with great variety and fun themed nights like Italian and Mexican. We also dined at the Agave restaurant down by the seafront, which was easy to reserve on the day via the hotel app or reception. Snacks, smoothies, and ice creams were served around the pool throughout the afternoon. While I would have preferred a slightly wider selection of alcoholic drinks, what they offered was lovely. For a quieter atmosphere, head to the Tennis Bar—it is far less crowded and serves cocktails, wine, and light nibbles like olives and nuts. The grounds, pools, and beach were equally enjoyable. The kids' pool sits right next to the main pool, and despite guests reserving sunbeds early, we always found free ones in the afternoon. Umbrella shade was the only thing in short supply due to people hoarding them. The beach is a brief 7-to-8-minute walk down from reception (or a short buggy ride), though the walk back uphill might be a bit tricky for families with small kids. The beach itself was clean, uncrowded, and wonderfully shallow for walking out into the clear water. Evening shows were enjoyable—especially the Addams Family performance—though they do start a bit late for younger children to catch the whole thing. Beyond the shows, there was a nightly quiz and plenty of daytime activities like water polo and volleyball. What truly made the stay was the exceptional team. The reception and restaurant staff were consistently attentive and smiling. Special thanks to Ariana for being amazing throughout our stay, Pablo for patiently letting me practice my Spanish, Chris for his incredible energy running daytime sports and evening shows, and the brilliant head choreographer who out-danced everyone in every performance. Overall, this is an outstanding family resort. As a couple traveling without young kids, we would likely pick a quieter hotel next time, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time here with family.
