Iberostar Waves Cala Millor

We stayed for a week, upon checking in staff were very friendly and gave us our room key we had booked a side sea view room and had paid extra to upgrade when booking through tui. Upon getting into the room it was a ground floor garden room with no balcony or form of sea view unless you walked off the terraced area which was essentially walking out onto the pool area not from the room at all! I went and discussed this with reception and the staff member was initially defensive saying this is what this chain of hotel calls a partial sea view, I agin challenged this as it was no form of sea view and the staff member seemed to begrudgingly give us a different room which I must say was amazing and did have a beautiful view from the balcony of the sea. The staff member that changed rooms for us then seemed to have a very different attitude with us for the rest of the holiday, being slightly hostile towards us! All of the staff members throughout the rest of the holiday were incredible from bar staff to the cleaners and maintenance. While the rooms are lovely I will say they are basic and don't have a 4* feel but the stunning views do make up for it and the rest of the hotel is spotless! Unfortunately for a 4* adults only hotel I would say there didn't seem to be much of an atmosphere or entertainment of high standards if you are looking for somewhere extremely peaceful I would say it is the place. Breakfast was incredible with great choice- the breakfast chefs and bar staff are super lovely! The location is stunning itself scenery wise and a great area for snorkeling in the near by sea! What I will say is while Cala millor is beautiful we struggled to find many restaurants or night life of a high standard we ate out mainly in Cala bona with the Italian being our favorite roughly a £10 taxi away and moments in Cala millor say a 15 min walk away being great! All in all it is a nice place if you want somewhere quiet but I'm not sure we would return in a return.

Iberostar Waves Cala Millor – Beautiful Views & Excellent Food, But Lacking the Special Touches Our first impression of Iberostar Waves Cala Millor was that it was quite an unassuming hotel. The lobby is smart, modern and very clean, although overall it has quite a basic feel. The hotel smells lovely and fresh, and cleanliness throughout was generally excellent. My husband upgraded our room for my birthday to a junior suite and had specifically requested that a nice gesture be left in the room for me. Unfortunately, nothing was left and there wasn’t even an acknowledgement of my birthday during our stay. This was really disappointing, particularly as he had gone to the trouble of arranging it in advance. We also weren’t impressed at having to pay a €20 deposit per person for beach towels, alongside the tourist tax which we hadn’t been aware of beforehand. I appreciate there may be practical reasons for the towel deposit, but for an adults-only all-inclusive hotel it immediately made the experience feel a little cheap rather than classy. The Room Our room itself was beautiful and had an absolutely gorgeous view. The bed was extremely comfortable, although it was actually two separate beds pushed together. When you’re away as a married couple, that’s not really what you want! The lack of a bath was also a real miss for me. There is a coffee machine in the room, but you’ll need to bring some milk back from the restaurant if you want to use it, and the fridge is empty. Toiletries are plentiful, although as a woman with longer hair I really didn’t like the conditioner and wished I’d brought my own. Food & Drinks The food was one of the highlights of the holiday. There is only one main restaurant and it is buffet style, but the food at every meal was excellent — fresh, tasty and with plenty of choice. Breakfast in particular was superb. Breakfast doesn’t begin until around 8/8:30am, however, which was a little late for us, especially as there didn’t appear to be anywhere to get an early coffee beforehand. The snack bar was disappointing and, in our opinion, almost a waste of time, with only a handful of fairly poor offerings. The wine was perfectly drinkable, but unfortunately most of the cocktails were awful and tasted like pre-made syrup. The exception was the mojito, which was much better. Drinks are also served with edible biscuit-style straws, which was certainly different! Pool, Spa & Hotel The pool is extremely clean and the outlook is beautiful. The spa pool is particularly lovely and relaxing, and the hotel as a whole has a very peaceful atmosphere. The sun loungers, however, are fairly basic and uncomfortable, and there aren’t a huge number of them. Depending on where you manage to get one, some areas also disappear into the shade quite quickly. Although everywhere generally feels very clean, we noticed that by around 9am each morning glasses and messy tables from the previous evening could still be sitting outside. It seemed surprising given how good the general standard of cleanliness was elsewhere. Entertainment This was probably our biggest disappointment after the location. The daytime entertainment was dismal and at times almost embarrassing. Colouring in fans or decorating keyrings isn’t really what we imagined when booking an adults-only all-inclusive hotel. Evening entertainment was adequate, with some acts better than others, but overall it lacked any real “X factor”. Chris Hart was enjoyable, and the flamenco dancers improved as their performance went on, but everything is generally finished shortly after 10pm. If you enjoy having a little atmosphere and entertainment on holiday, the evenings can feel very quiet very quickly. Location The hotel is a short walk from the castle and beach, and there are restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately, none of the restaurants we tried particularly impressed us. The beach itself was stony and we found getting into the sea quite difficult. For us, the location ultimately felt rather isolated. If your idea of a holiday is relaxing almost entirely around the hotel and pool, that may suit you perfectly. If you like being able to wander out in the evening to somewhere with a bit of life and atmosphere, it may be less suitable. Check-Out One final observation: at check-out they couldn’t seem to cut our all-inclusive wristbands off quickly enough! We were, however, given a lunch voucher, which was appreciated. Overall There is plenty to like about Iberostar Waves Cala Millor. The food is excellent, our room and view were beautiful, the bed was extremely comfortable, the spa pool is lovely and the whole hotel has a clean, calm and relaxing atmosphere. However, for us it lacked some of the little touches that make an adults-only all-inclusive holiday feel special or luxurious. The forgotten birthday request, towel deposits, empty fridge, two single beds pushed together, uncomfortable loungers, poor cocktails and very average entertainment all chipped away at the experience. We enjoyed our stay, but we wouldn’t return, mainly because of the location and lack of atmosphere and quality entertainment rather than because the hotel itself is bad. A good choice for someone wanting a very quiet, relaxing holiday with excellent buffet food and beautiful views — but if you’re looking for a more polished, luxurious adults-only experience with great cocktails and lively evenings, this probably isn’t the one.

Had a really lovely week here. Good food, lovely pool and very short walk to beach. Rooms very nice and maid service excellent. Walking distance to other restaurants and shops etc.Only one negative and that was no hot drink or toast on morning of departure. The restaurant was open for us but the machines had not been switched on. We did have an early departure but with an hour and half to the airport it was a long wait for a cup of tea/coffee. We were the only 4 leaving from our hotel at that time so wouldn’t have taken much effort to see to us. Otherwise perfect holiday.

Not a 4 star hotel. Room: we had a garden room (#3) the room has frosted glass windows around the bathroom. Looks lovely but awful design for actual living. For those who like private moments in there, good luck! And night time trips, even with your mobile phone light, light up the whole room. Location wise was great, away from the pool, garden view, however the sun didn't reach our loungers at any point in the day. Room was spotless clean and cleaned every day. Food; we were half board, food was lovely, paid for water in the restaurant and price of beer changed according to the waiter. Small beer ordered, one waiter said it's one size only, the next night the price was different, so i queried or and was told that was the small beer price. no bar snacks (spar supermarket 5 min stroll) Pool: hate the sunbed & parasol grab by 8am, a lot of shaded areas, we just moved around where possible. Entertainment: for a 4 star branded hotel like iberostar it was nothing short of abysmal tbh. 8.30 to 10pm only. Tiny stage, no lighting and all solo acts who tried their best... Overall, nice chilled week but won't return. After speaking to others it seems this hotel isn't replicated by the brand elsewhere others had great reviews of the brand at other resorts.

Positives are: lovely and clean, staff fantastic , pool area immaculate rooms spacious with good hanging space for clothes Food good but not fantastic Cons Entertainment is well below average one hour from 9pm until 10 pm Outside bar with no air con especially needed during Spanish heatwave Daytime entertainment consisted of painting fans and making bangles. Hardly adult entertainment in my opinion No pool games normally associated with adult only hotels Pool area small for size of hotel with a lot of sun loungers in shade for most of the day Upgraded for full sea view don't bother as most balcony's get hardly and sun Only been to one other iberostar in Tenerife with star prestige and this was no where near same standard No food during day except in restaurant or lobby bar which consisted of a choice of three sandwiches and a couple of cakes
