Iberostar Waves Club Cala Barca

Just got back from seven nights, we were a family with two kids- 5 and 10, and the grandparents. We had two Family Apartments in block 33. I had emailed ahead of time to ask where our block would be as I had read the furthest ones are very far. 33 is not in the central location (as you have to pay extra for those) but also not at the furthest blocks. A 3 or 4 minute walk from the central hub probably. Never noisy. The food was so good. My partner is a vegan and often can't find anything good on holiday but he ate better than he's even eaten! So many vegan and vegetarian options at every meal. Something for everyone. Fresh and delicious and always changing. The kids were happy because the pasta and pizza and ice cream is so good! The cakes for dessert always amazing. Fresh salads all the time. Self-serve beer and soft drinks at multiple little bars across the site. You're never too far from a bar! We went in all the pools. they're all excellent. The long lovely ones at the main stage are partially shaded by huge trees which is beautiful. We aren't early risers so sometimes struggled to get sun loungers but always managed in the end. Our air-con kept breaking and it was very hot without it. The Iberostar app is where you report faults and they sent someone out quickly every time. We also used the app to check timings and info for everything which was great. We also requested a buggy to come and collect us and our luggage at checkout. Really well-run, they've thought of everything. The room key on an RFID tag on your bracelet is just so cool and convenient. The hotel is really in the middle of nowhere which is the only downside. The place is so big that we were happy to stay on site for the whole week with the kids but my parents prefer to look around towns so they made the mistake of trying to walk into Portopetro - do not try this lol! It's a 30 min walk along a highway with no pavement. They were horrified. So it's taxis if you want to get anywhere at all. The beach is nice. Full of seaweed when we were there and a bit of a yucky smell but I'm sure that's not all the time. Lots of fish you can spot. The beach restaurant is so nice for breakfast if you want some peace and quiet, because the main restaurant does get very intense sometimes. Weird that this might be a downside but the place really is SO big. Wonderful in some ways but comparing it to places we have been before - I didn't really feel comfortable letting my 10yo go off on her own very much. People get lost in the crowds quite a lot and you could search all day and not spot your family so needed to text constantly to stay in contact. Last year at a smaller hotel the kids went to the playground by themselves for example, but we couldn't do that here as it was a ten minute walk among thousands of strangers. Not that it felt unsafe - EVERYONE is there with kids and there's a very nice vibe. Just worth mentioning. Good mix of Brits, French, German, Spanish, everyone really! We got a private transfer minibus from the airport which is about 45 mins and cost £120 each way. I used 'Mallorca Private Transfers' and booked in advance online. Overall very good, would go again, nothing to worry about.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Holiday at Cala Barca! We have just returned from another fantastic stay at Cala Barca and once again it exceeded all our expectations. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice and something for everyone. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The entertainment was absolutely amazing, with great activities during the day and brilliant shows in the evening. There was always something going on, making the whole experience fun for both adults and children. A special mention must go to Pani and Danni, who were truly outstanding members of staff. They were friendly, welcoming, hardworking, and always went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their fantastic attitude and dedication really made a difference to our holiday. The resort itself is beautiful, well maintained, and has a wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and are already planning our return. This was our second visit, and we are so impressed that we will definitely be back for our third visit next year! Thank you to everyone at Cala Barca for another unforgettable holiday. What a fantastic family holiday! Iberostar Cala Barca is the perfect place to relax while the kids have an amazing time. We had the best family holiday at Iberostar Cala Barca! ❤️ There is something for everyone! A huge thank you to Pani for taking such great care of us and making everything perfect during our stay. Place was nice but our block was right down the bottom of the complex so every time we wanted to go to the restaurants it’s a 10 minute walk to the main area. You can get a lift from two workers on golf buggies but there’s normally a queue so we always walked it. We did have a pool down are area thankfully though. Also the air con in room not great so slept on top of the covers every night. People are friendly and food was good so all in all not bad but wouldn’t be back I’m afraid
