TUI SUNEO Platja D'or

We have just returned from an 11 night stay (4th July - 15th July) and must say we enjoyed every minute we were there. Checkin was very quick and easy and even though our room was not ready we were able to use all the facilities on offer. Our room was small but had everything we needed for our stay. Always well cleaned with towels changed daily. Good aircon and a very nice view over the pool. There is a main road running behind the Hotel but we never found this to be a problem. We cannot understand why there are complaints about the food in the restaurant as we always found it to be of a high standard with plenty of choices. Staff were very good with a meet and greet and tables cleared and reset very quickly. It was nice to have the coffee machines available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Main bar did get busy at times but the staff there were excellent, if there was a queue more staff would appear. Again coffee was available on a self service basis. You will find queues for the pool in the morning which I found strange as there were plenty of beds to go round no matter what time we turned up. Pool area was kept very clean and tidy. There is a self service area for soft drinks and beer at the snack bar with ice and ice creams. We never ate at the snack bar but what we saw looked very good. The entertainment team were a huge hit but not in your face. The beach just over the road is an added bonus, miles of sand and crystal clear water. To sum up, would we return and the answer is an absolute YES. In fact we are looking now ready to book for next year. A massive thank you to you all for making our holiday so memorable.

First time at the hotel - most guests are frequent visitors and I understand why, absolutely brilliant experience. Very relaxed hotel, allowing us to eat before checking in was a nice first impression. The entertainment team couldn’t be better, the hotel is aimed at an older crowd but they work so hard to get people involved. Casper, Franco (apologies if spelt wrong), Alex and the rest of the team are pure gold. The bar staff are incredibly friendly and the drinks are great, cocktails served all day and Cruzcampo on tap. Never stuck for choice in the restaurant with themed nights throughout the week. We ate out a couple of nights just to avoid boredom but that’s just us and not a reflection of the food. 1 min away from a supermarket and the beach, have to pay for beds on the beach but they come with a safebox which i thought was a nice touch. The beach is amazing crystal blue with fishes and you have to walk in at least 50m before it gets to swimming depth. Rooms are basic but very clean and a good size balcony. No fighting for sunbeds which I loved, no need to get up early we always found plenty spots round the pool. Overall 10/10 experience from start to finish. We don’t often return to the same place but if I was stuck for choice i’d happily come back.

Great hotel, this was our fifth visit. Sunbeds - new ones being added as the old ones wear out. If you want your favourite spot around the pool you will have to queue, otherwise there are always beds available. Pool towels available for €10, refundable at the end of your stay, some of these are well worn & need to be replaced soon. Pools are ideal to relax & cool down in. Restaurant - always a good choice at meal times, there is a good full English breakfast available as well various healthy alternatives. Sometimes crockery was not available & food not replenished. This needs to be rectified with a restaurant manager in place to identify shortages before they happen. Be aware that some inconsiderate people enter the restaurant with wet clothes at lunch time, even though there is a sign requesting people not to do this. Check your chair is dry before using it. Pool snack bar offers toasties, burgers, hot dogs, salads etc, ideal for a snack during the day. Bar - queuing system & only two drinks per order works well & keeps the queue moving. Hard plastic glasses for drinks around the pool during day, & real glasses in the evening. Smoking / vaping - in a designated area although as always there are those who ignore this and smoke / vape around the sunbeds and other areas. There was smoke coming from a litter bin one evening well away from the smoking area, possibly started by a discarded cigarette, this was extinguished by a staff member. Please add more signs to advise of where smoking is allowed & not allowed. Daytime entertainment was good with no pressure to get involved if you didn’t want to. Bedrooms - basic but functional but with limited drawer space, otherwise fully equipped with tea / coffee making facilities & a fridge. Rooms cleaned daily to an acceptable standard. We did ask for our bed linen to be changed after seven nights, this was done with an apology for the oversight. Bath towels changed regularly. Bath towels & bed linen are getting thin and some could do with being replaced. The rooms are getting a bit ‘tired’ and need a freshen up. All staff are polite, hard working & keen to make your holiday a good one. Many of the them have been at the hotel for a long time as we have seen them on our previous visits. Stayed for a week prior to a cruise. Overall we can thoroughly recommend the hotel. The rooms are modern and spotless, the beds are on the firm side which suited us. We don’t normally return to hotels, but we’ve already booked for next year! All of staff were welcoming and friendly and always had a smile. Longest we queued for a drink was 2 minutes. Most of the entertainment was good, with the Tina Turner tribute act exceptional. The only let down for us was the elvis tribute who was flat! It’s a perfect location, 2 minutes to a beach, we found the beach a little better by walking a couple of minutes more to the right on the beach. Yes the sunbeds get busy, although there were some in the garden, we prefer the beach however. On the 2 days we used them, a little were “reserved” and on the last morning, some were still unoccupied by 11, even though towels were on at 8:30, I think being slowed to leave for : hours is excessive, surely 1 hour is more than enough. The only things which would improve the stay is a couple more drawers in the room, they do lack a bit of storage. Finally, I’d have to mention Sarah, the Tui rep, she is exceptional and a credit to the company

Very disappointed with this hotel,rooms were clean but very basic. The dining room had the appearance of a school canteen and the food matched the school dinners I remember from the 60s.Yuk. Worst of all was having to sort through crockery and utensils to find items that were clean,the plates especially had food residue on them.Maybe they invest in a better dishwasher. The furnishings in the bar area were dated,worn and quite often grubby. We had a room at the back of the hotel,fine when the patio doors are closed but noise from a busy road and petrol station is a definite minus. Couldn't fault the staff,the ones we came across were friendly and helpful. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, definitely not visiting again.
