Viva Eden Lago

We loved the location of Viva Eden Lago because the white sandy beach and turquoise clear sea was just a 5 minute walk away which really suited us. We split our time between the pool and beach, there are plenty of sunbeds, and large day beds that are very comfortable. We were upgraded to full board due to our room being unavailable which we were informed about very late when we arrived. There was a very good selection of food at the buffet - breakfast, lunch and Dinner and the quality of the food was overall very good and there was plenty of it! The buffet area had good natural lighting, it was nicely furnished, clean and tidy, also comfortable seating and table layouts too. The staff are attentive and very hard working ensuring that everything is running smoothly. Our double room was very clean , nice bathroom and a large balcony we had a hot tub, it overlooked the pool. Very nice location and clean Above are all my positive comments. Below is constructive criticism, there is room for improvements I feel. The comments I have made below are not complaints , they are suggestions to improve the hotel that I feel would of made our experience excellent rather than good/very good . 1. When guest arrive very late, especially with children, they should be offered at least a soft drink/hot drink of their choice . Guests could also be offered a few snacks after delayed travel and really late arrival I say this because we had a bad experience on arrival and I complained about it because it was a bit shocking. 2. We arrived in the middle of a heat wave and when we entered our room very late at night it was far too hot. My opinion is when you are in a heat wave ( I understand the eco friendly aspect ethos of the hotel , but the heat wave is exceptional circumstances) the air conditioning in a guests room should be be turned on at least an 1 HR before the get the room to a level where it is comfortable to sleep in. Unfortunately the air conditioning in our room was not that efficient. Our son's family room was much cooler. I felt I couldn't say anything because I'd already complained that it was making a rattling noise when we arrived, someone came the next day and took the cover off and didn't put it back on . The air con was acceptable but I felt it needed updating to a better standard . 3. The corridors on level 4 have stained carpet tiles in places which isn't nice and there are cacti growing behind windows in places that looks sad and unkept. My husband even gave them a bit of water. Some were dead which was sad and demonstrated a lack of care. I know this is a minor thing may be but it doesn't give out a good vibe. 4. Water machine where we were on level 4 makes a racket when you are filling up your jug, I feel they need improvements to them. Overall I felt the general appearance of the corridors let the hotel down and were not up to a 4 star standard . I would like to finish my review by thanking 3 staff members whom I was very impressed with. They are Daniel, Wisdom and Mia. They were kind , polite, genuine and extremely helpful. They are a credit to the hotel and improved my experience greatly, especially because we got off to a bad start so I was in particular very sensitive to how we were treated . Thank you because you made my family's experience better because I felt happier. Daniel is very,very good at smoothing the waters so to speak and is a very good listener. He is attentive and manages guests very well with respect if they have a complaint

More needs to be done to combat mosquitoes when eating inside and I had no pool view. Service and bar staff very friendly and excellent working people

We had such a fabulous time at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and professional, it was beautifully clean and well situated on the lake with a short walk to the beach and a nice 25 minutes walk along the lake to the nearest town. However, we didn’t go far as our 3 year old granddaughter so enjoyed the children’s pool area, the bouncy castle and play area that it was hard to prise her away. We enjoyed the food and the drinks were the best we have ever had at an all inclusive (recommend the mojitos, sangria and margaritas). A lovely family holiday. Thank you!

We stayed here for our first visit from 16/07 for 6 nights on an all-inclusive basis, and overall we had a really lovely week. The hotel has some fantastic positives. The views are absolutely stunning, and the beach is only a 3-minute walk away. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained, with really comfy beds that gave us a great night’s sleep every night. The hotel itself is nice and quiet, making it a relaxing place to stay. The soft drinks and cocktails were excellent, and the fresh bread at the buffet was honestly some of the freshest we’ve ever eaten. The WiFi worked well throughout our stay, and we loved the wristbands with the room key built in – such a convenient idea. The sunbeds are very comfortable, the day beds are a real luxury, and the cold showers around the pool are a great touch. The jacuzzi is also lovely, although we do feel it would be better if it was adults only. There are a few areas where we think the hotel could improve. The buffet really needs food labels, especially for guests with allergies or dietary requirements. There also don’t seem to be enough no-smoking signs, and we found people smoking in various areas. The air conditioning in the restaurant was unfortunately very poor – eating while sweating wasn’t a pleasant experience. The mosquitoes in the evenings were relentless, so definitely come prepared with insect repellent. We also felt the communal areas could be cleaned more frequently. There were children’s handprints all over the lift, squashed mosquitoes on the walls, and the pool areas didn’t always appear to be cleaned regularly. A few small tables around the pool next to the sunbeds would also be a welcome addition. A couple of tips for future guests: * Bring your own reusable straws if you prefer drinking through one, as the hotel doesn’t provide them. * Bring a lightweight jacket or cushion to sit on in the evenings, as the rattan chairs have quite hard arms and can become uncomfortable. Despite a few minor issues, we genuinely enjoyed our stay and had a fantastic holiday. We’d happily recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing break with beautiful views, comfortable accommodation and a great location close to the beach.
