We have just stayed at the Dickwella resort for 10 days. The location is amazing. If you like the sea then this is the place for you. It is surrounded by the sea. As we went off-season, the sea was rough. It was captivating to watch the waves crashing on the headland. Having said that, it was still possible to go in the sea and swim on the beaches either side of the hotel. Turtlepoint is about a 5 min walk from the hotel, here at this beach you can snorkel and see sea turtles. This was such as amazing experience. It was the highlight of our stay, we went every day to see the turtles. The beaches have the nicest sand and clear blue waters. Even though it was out of season we didn’t see much rain, the rain also passed quickly (in around 10 mins). There was a strong wind due to the hotels position on the headland, we liked this at it kept the temperature cooler. The pool is large, I like to swim lengths and could easily manage this at anytime of day as the pool was big enough for people to swim whilst others were enjoying the pool too. The pool staff were great at setting up sunbeds and umbrellas, they are friendly and helpful. The real highlight of the hotel after the location was the staff. The bar, pool and catering staff were all so committed to giving excellent service. The bar staff knew our names, what we wanted to drink, they offered alternative suggestions for cocktails, brought drinks to our sunbeds and were truly excellent. A huge thank you to Jadu and Hashan and the other staff ( sorry if we’ve forgotten your name) The food was excellent. We were lucky enough to have a set lunch on a few days and the presentation of the food and standards of cuisine were outstanding. The buffet food was also excellent, ingredients were of a high standard, variety was good, staff were keen to get you anything you needed that wasn’t out on the buffet. The food was truly delicious thank you. Waiting staff were so helpful, they genuinely want to help, they were profusely apologetic if anything was missing (and this was almost never the case). Their smiles were infectious and every single one of them did a fantastic job. We couldn’t have asked for more . Dadisan the restaurant manager was quick to know our names, he chatted to us daily and constantly checked-in that we were enjoying our holiday and checking we had everything we needed. Thank you to Janina, Samantha, Dineth, Thisara, the smiley chefs and the trainees and anyone else we missed (so sorry we didn’t remember everyone’s names) The room was fine, the bed large and comfortable, the air conditioning kept it nice and cool and it was clean. It had everything we needed. It wasn’t the highlight of the holiday but we didn’t spend much time in the room as the outside was so lovely. We arranged a trip for a safari and the hotel did this for us at a competitive rate. We went in the hotels transportation and we couldn’t have been happier. The driver was brilliant; we went on a full moon holiday day, a Poya Day. On the way back we stopped at numerous street food stalls ( 5 in total, we were stuffed!) which were a part of the Poya Day . He made it so memorable and immersed us the local culture and the elephants and safari experience were amazing too. I would fully recommend booking trips through the hotel it was such a smooth process. There were always Tuk Tuks waiting outside so you can travel places locally very easily. We had the best holiday ever, we would return to this hotel without a doubt. I would love to come back next year and we never go to the same place twice. I only have praise for the staff. Thank you to every single member of staff who worked so hard to ensure we had a brilliant stay. We loved Sri Lanka, we loved Dickwella and we loved the staff ( the brilliant Sri Lankan smile that greeted us from every member of staff, throughout the holiday will be remembered forever).

We had a wonderful experience at Dickwella resort and spa. The resort is surrounded on three by the sea and views from the rooms are excellent. Mr Shangeethan helped us have a wonderful time at the resort and we are extremely happy with his service. Thank you!
