Suriya Resort

We had a lovely stay at Suriya Resort on 13th and 14th April. This was actually my first visit to the property, as I usually stay at Club Hotel Dolphin when travelling to Waikkala, so it was a nice change for me. I must say the overall experience was excellent. The resort has a very pleasant atmosphere, the staff were warm, attentive and welcoming throughout the stay, and the food was genuinely very good. We tried both the buffet and the in-room dining, and both were very enjoyable. The food was tasty, well prepared and the quality was consistently good. It was a short stay, but a very pleasant one, and honestly one night was not enough. I would be very happy to return again. Thank you to the team at Suriya Resort for making the stay such an enjoyable one.

The Suriya is a beautiful hotel, with friendly and attentive staff. The pool and grounds are beautiful, with direct view of the sea. On this occasion I made use of the spa facilities, Le Lily Spa where I was welcomed by Niranjan. Who gave me a relaxing Balinese massage. The professionalism and relaxation experienced had me returning for a second massage. The room is comfortable and the oils used help to create an ambience. Niranjan worked very hard to ensure I felt completely relaxed and that I was comfortable. Following the massage, I was invited to relax for a few more moments before being greeted with a cup of cinnamon and lime tea. The Suriya is a beautiful hotel, and the spa facilities and staff within it add to the luxury.

We stayed in a suite at the hotel for 10 days and couldn’t have asked for more from the holiday. The suites are large. Clean and well maintained, and we had an amazing view of the sea and sunset from the balcony. The staff were friendly, chatty and very accommodating. They did everything they could to make our stay memorable. The food was fantastic. The pool is clean, yes there are crows, dogs and a cat, but the pool and surrounding areas are kept very clean, they didn’t bother us at all. There is lovely birdsong throughout the day and the three dogs weren’t interested in people, they just sat in the shade and roamed around a bit, in fact they were quite sweet. The general manger was readily available and the spa was luxurious (Balinese massage…amazing!) too. Sri Lanka is beautiful and the people are exceptional. ❤️

We only stayed the one night thankfully and could not leave quick enough. Our room had mould and was in need of a major makeover. There was mould on the blinds the air return and in the shower. The bed covers were pulled and in need of replacing, the blind in the bathroom broken and the chairs around the pool area covered in bird dropping thanks to the numerous amount of crows. The crows are everywhere even in the pool They did try to remove the crows from the pool but they returned within 5 minutes. The crows are that bad they have somebody standing outside the restaurant to scare them away. The restaurant food was okay but after our room experience we were very nervous. The cat and dog wondering through the restaurant did not help our concerns. The air conditioning was too loud to have on at night and the ceiling fan looked like it was about to fall down. The exhaust fan in the bathroom could be heard out in the hallway. Overall a very disappointed first night in Sri Lanka.

The Shi-En Ikebana and Floral Society of Sri Lanka organized its annual day trip to Suriya Resort on the 24th of January 2026. The outing was a memorable and well organized event, enjoyed thoroughly by all members. The serene ambiance of the hotel, complemented by breathtaking views of the mangroves, lagoon, and the sea, added to the charm of the experience. A scrumptious lunch and afternoon tea was served, further enhancing the enjoyment of the day. Overall, it was a delightful visit, and the Society looks forward to visiting the resort again in the future.
