Taj Bentota Resort & Spa

We had a wonderful stay at Taj Bentota! The pool was amazing, the ambiance was relaxing, and the buffet offered an excellent variety of delicious food. Beautiful and clean beach with alot of activities like surfing, scuba diving and more. Bathrooms were a bit small but rest everything was nice with spacious balconies. A heartfelt thanks to Chef Dalip Singh for his exceptional hospitality. He went out of his way to prepare special dishes for us, including dum biryani, golgappe, and many other items that weren't part of the buffet, and had them ready within minutes. His kindness, care, and dedication truly made our stay extra special. Highly recommended!

I am currently staying at the hotel in room no 416,417 and expected a much higher standard of service from a property carrying the Taj brand. Unfortunately, the experience has been far below expectations. Basic requests are handled poorly. Even for drinking water, staff ask how many guests are in the room before providing bottles. Room service is extremely slow, with simple requests often taking more than an hour to be fulfilled. One particularly disappointing incident was when we requested fresh coconut water. Considering Sri Lanka is famous for its coconuts and coconut water is readily available across the country, it was surprising that the hotel was unable or unwilling to arrange it for guests. We also ordered sheesha, and the quality was extremely poor. After informing the staff and requesting a replacement or assistance, no one came to address the issue. The lack of responsiveness and follow-up was frustrating. The property itself feels dated, with old infrastructure and facilities that do not match the standards expected of a luxury resort. While the beach location is excellent, the service quality and overall guest experience are disappointing. Based on our stay, this feels more like a 3-star property than a luxury Taj resort. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works on improving guest service, responsiveness, and overall hospitality.

Head Chef Dalip Singh was very cordial and welcoming, provided excellent Indian Food tweaked to our taste, extremely pleasant experience at Taj Bentota.
