Barceló Coconut Island Phuket

We are just returning from a wonderful 10 day holiday at Coconut Island Phuket. It was straightforward getting to the island with Emirates appointed local representative, Destination Asia. Check in was also straightforward and our room exceeded expectations. Large, clean, well appointed, air conditioned, large flat screen TV’s, lounge/Dining area and as we booked a sea view double bedroom with a pool, it was exactly as advertised. The pool was lovely and warm and a great view. We booked excursions through our Destination Asia lady ‘Wicky’. The Twilight Sea Canoe is a must ! I wouldn’t recommend the trips to Koh Phi Phi (over touristy/manic). The hotel restaurant and food are all excellent. Thai, Italian and themed buffet nights with great entertainment. The pools aren’t huge but nice and not crowded. The beach is clean looks better than the pictures. Overall, we were really pleased that we booked Barceló Coconut Island. We would love to come back soon. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff, friendly, helpful and just great. It’s hard for me to list everyone we wish to thank, you know who you all are. Superb staff, abundant food, relaxed times and sun and warmth. Happy days. I want to highly recommend but also to keep it as a secret for ourselves!!!

It wasn’t my great experience, I stayed here for 10 days in a private villa, and despite the resort being fully occupied, the management is completely incapable of handling this volume of guests. The overall service was unacceptable for a property of this size, and communication was difficult right through to check-out, where the staff member handling our departure had very poor English skills, making basic closing details frustrating. While I was swimming in my supposedly "private" pool, two staff members literally climbed through the bushes into my pool area as a shortcut to get to the neighboring villa. This was a shocking lack of respect for guest privacy. Housekeeping was terrible throughout the stay. My bedsheets were not changed once during the entire 10 days. They regularly took old towels without leaving new ones, and at one point, a basket full of dirty towels sat in my villa for 2 days. I had to complain every single day just to get towels. The hygiene standards were equally unacceptable. A dead cockroach remained on the floor in plain sight without being cleaned, and a dirty spot in the bathtub stayed there untouched for 4 days. Amenity restocking was completely random and hit-or-miss depending on who cleaned. On top of that, same-day laundry (submitted before 12:00 PM) took 2 full days to be returned, and only after I called. The water pressure in the bathroom was weak throughout the stay. To top it all off, my birthday occurred during the stay, and unlike standard hospitality practices, there was zero acknowledgement or gesture from the resort.

A true and amazing island escape with all what you need to enjoy a stay at a private island. We visited for a second time as a family and wouldn’t hesitate to book again and stay here. We started with 3 nights in our first trip, now its 4 nights, and I guess for our next trip we need to stay not less than a week to enjoy as many more days as possible.
