JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa

We have absolutely loved our stay at the JW Marriott Khao Lak. The staff and facilities were amazing and we cannot recommend kids clubs. Special thanks to Nana, Rod and the incredible team at kids club. The babysitters are so warm and were incredible with our 2 year old daughter. They made our stay! We will be back

A magnificent and large complex, on a very good beach. The hotel is probably already twenty years old, but it is well maintained and stylistically it is also very successful with a timeless design. Practically the entire hotel is covered with roofed galleries and in case of rain you can get almost anywhere without getting wet. Of course there are umbrellas in the room. Pleasantly furnished spacious rooms. Cleaning was done twice a day. An iron and ironing board were immediately available in the room. The refrigerator was empty, but it suited us very well, since we had a lot of things with us that we wanted to keep cold. There are two wardrobes, but there are no shelves in them. There is one upper shelf, but it is too high and there is a drawer below, but it is uncomfortably low. Very good beach. With plenty of sun loungers both on the beach and around the pools. Separate beach area for adults, which is very pleasant for a peaceful stay. There are a lot of pools, which are interconnected and according to various sources, there are 2.4 to 2.8 kilometers of pools. There are plenty of secluded places near the pools where you can sunbathe in privacy. In addition to free drinking water, the beach also offers SPF 50 sunscreen and Aloe Vera after sun cream. The beach chairs are comfortable and there are enough of them, and therefore it is quite rare to reserve chairs with towels early in the morning. NB! Towels are brought to the beach a little before 10:00, so if you want towels earlier, you should take them the night before. A good selection and delicious breakfast (it seems that last year the selection was a little more diverse). The breakfast time is also pleasantly long, 6:30 - 11:00. Last year (at the same time), an “adults only” breakfast was offered separately in the Olive restaurant and we really liked it. The interior and vibe there were very cozy. This year, they said that since there are few guests, breakfast will be served in only one restaurant starting last week. This restaurant also had a separate “adults only” area, but it was not comparable to the Olive restaurant. It’s a shame, because this breakfast in a nice atmosphere was one of our motivators to come to this hotel again. Good service. The staff not only smile at the guests, but are also well trained and in most cases understand English well and can help if something is needed. We had a hybrid car and we had no previous experience charging such a car. There is a charging station for electric cars (which does not belong to the hotel), but the staff helped us figure out how to charge it (they themselves had no previous experience) and helped us download the necessary application, which requires a Thai SIM card (they offered their phone number to register the application). The whole process took over half an hour and we were ready to give up several times, but they still had the nerve to deal with the matter to the end. The hotel restaurants are quite expensive and according to reviews are of average quality, there must also be problems with seats and you have to book early. We did not try the local restaurants. There are inexpensive local simple eateries on both sides of the hotel and there are several good restaurants within a 10-minute drive. There is a reasonably priced open-air massage parlor on the beach next to the territory. There is a mini market and a few other shops in front of the hotel entrance. The clientele is very international, no one nationality dominated. There were many families with children, but since there were separate areas for adults only, the children did not bother us. The hotel is located in a secluded area and there are no activities within walking distance. Khao Lak center is about a 10-minute drive away, but it is also a fairly quiet place. Considering this, the hotel could offer more entertainment in the evenings. We asked for a 2 hour late check-out and were told that this was not possible because the hotel was full, but upon check-in we were told that there were too few guests to keep the two breakfast restaurants open.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location is perfect—right on the beach, which is clean, safe, and ideal for families. There were plenty of buckets and spades available for kids to play with, which was a lovely touch. The food was excellent, especially breakfast. There was an incredible variety of options, from fresh juices and cooked breakfasts to frozen yogurt—something for everyone. The standout feature for us was the kids’ club. A big shout-out to KT, Nana, Rod, and the rest of the wonderful team. They took such great care of my two girls—my daughter was constantly asking to go back! The range of activities was impressive, with both free and paid options, including movie nights on the beach with free popcorn, painting (fans, canvas bags, and t-shirts), colouring, and nail painting. The facilities are also top-notch, with a fantastic soft play area for babies and a separate, incredible soft play room for older children. Everything in the kids’ club was spotlessly clean. We also made use of the babysitting service, which was great value and gave us real peace of mind knowing our children were being so well looked after. Highly recommend for families—we’ll definitely be back!

Our second time here and I loved it even more than the first time. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the lagoon pool, beach, restaurants and spa. Room was spacious and had everything one would want. The breakfast buffet is excellent with several vegetarian options. We had dinner twice at Olive, once at Ta- Krai and once at Sakura. All of them were lovely and the food was outstanding. My favourite place for lunch is the Waterfront restaurant - a table outside with view of the sea and sand. All the staff members were helpful and we never had any issues which could not be resolved immediately. This I think is one of my favourite hotels now and we are already planning our third visit here.

Wow, what a hotel. By far the best hotel we have stayed in whilst on holiday, we had a swim up room. The breakfast was amazing as was the service that you got from all the staff. What a swimming pool, all 1.4km. we will be coming back next year.
