Just returned from our 9 day trip at Kalima resort. The staff make this hotel with their courteous and friendly manner. I have to say a huge thank you to Pada who could not do enough to make us feel so welcome in the Tin and Muluka restaurants she was an absolute gem. I only have a couple of moans which are entertainment was zero except for Saturday with an outstanding fire show. Don't advertise evening entertainment unless this is provided and secondly I was made to feel like a criminal as I took the wicker bag from the room which I assumed was complimentary and given a plastic bag unless I wanted to pay for it. Maybe put a sign in the room to say it's not complimentary. Overall we would definitely return the setting is fantastic and rooms perfect.

CHECK IN/ROOM: pleasant and smooth, we were offered fresh towels and welcome drink, it was gladly appreciated after long trip. We stayed at the Pool Suite No. 2103. We choose suite looking for extra luxury, comfort and mainly privacy but our expectations were sadly unfilled. Poor cleanliness. We had zero privacy because of a huge gap at our pool, everyone who goes around our pool saw everything - absolutely unacceptable when you pay extra money for suite and you get this and what more, our pool suite was situated between pool access rooms - incredible... you may think that they have suites separated from other lower standart rooms but no. This will be nothing special, however last three days of our stay, this hotel managed to accomodate right next to us the most disrespectful family with 5 kids that you can ever imagine. Next to us - couple with no kids. I would not care about that but they were so loud, thinking they are all alone in a whole resort ... Screaming, shouting and laughing even after 22:00 (10 p.m.) - simply not acceptable. I wonder if person in charge of this was even slightly thinking of who and where they accomodate people like come on ... Next downfall was dirty pool, leaves in the pool, dirty pool tiles and what more, we found screw sitting at the bottom of our pool, unfortunately with our feet ! OUCH ! There was also a huge cockroach in our room. Cleaning lady in charge of our room seems to not care much about cleaning. One time we came to our room when she was there - she was on her mobile phone, she did not even bother to greet us like hello ?! Very disrespectful. That´s not a kind of service you would expect from 5 star hotel. Besides that the main hotel pool was also very and I mean very dirty, algae and a huge coat/film of god knows what floating at the surface, disgusting. Shutle bus goes from hotel to town only in the afternoon, we do not use it. Instead of that I highly recommend renting scooter and you go whenever you want to wherever you want. FOOD: not so big selection and variety of food at the buffet, however we managed to find something every day and food was pretty tasty - surprisingly no tummy problems. However, there were also a small insects in food, salats and even drinks/juices. Finding a clean glass was sometimes pretty challenging. SEA/BEACH: hotel beach was not well maintained, there was plenty of rubbish and beach was situated right next to military zone with no entry. Sea was dirty and wild with big waves. We used to go on near-by Coconut beach. CHECK OUT: checkout was at 12:00. we were allowed to stay at our room till 14:00 free of charge, because our airport transfer comes at 17:00. If we wanted to stay at our room till the transfer comes, they wanted to charge us another 2 000 BTH. The problem is this hotel´s reception is located outside with no airconditioning. They leave us outside in that hot air, after one hour they finally managed to offer us that we can go and wait inside ... no drink, even water was offered to us while we wait at reception - very disapointing compared to check-in. They are all happy and caring during check in but at check out, they sadly don´t care about you any more. I expected more from this hotel, who claims to be 5 star. Luckily we used to just sleep here because during the day we were busy discovering nearby nature, beaches, waterfalls and so on. Do I reccomend this hotel ? Probably yes. Would I stay here again ? Well, probably no. They have much to improve.

Had the most wonderful massage with Sandy at the resort spa. Modern facilities with great ambience and skilled staff. The 90min relaxation package was pure bliss.
