We stayed in the Grand Pool Access room, which is one of the best room categories at the resort. It was comfortable enough, but it didn't quite live up to our expectations. We chose it mainly because it was advertised as being larger and included a spa bath, but the room wasn't as spacious as we expected, and we never used the spa bath. The pool access was nice, although it didn't feel particularly private, and the beach view was only a small glimpse through the surrounding buildings and landscaping. One thing we did appreciate was the unique architecture. The resort has an interesting industrial-style design with impressive high concrete walls, which worked out were designed to help protect the property in the event of a tsunami. It certainly gives the hotel a distinctive look. There are several different pool areas, which is a plus, and having direct pool access from the room was enjoyable. However, the pools themselves weren't anything exceptional, and during our stay they were packed with children. Families would probably love the atmosphere, but if you're a couple looking for a quieter, more relaxing holiday, this may not be the best choice. The location is one of the resort's strongest points. It's an easy walk to plenty of restaurants, cafés and some excellent, affordable massage shops, making it very convenient to explore the local area. Overall, while we enjoyed our stay, we didn't feel this was a true five-star resort. We'd rate it closer to a solid four stars. It's a good option for families, but as a couple, we'd probably choose somewhere else next time.

First of all I booking about 30/7-2/8/69 When I stay on La Vela Khao Lak I like mood and tone of this hotel. I can live in hotel about 24 hr. include cafe , spa, restaurants and the best sunset in evening. All of Staff are so nice and lovely.

La Vella is a quiet and relaxing resort - and a "sister" resort to the nearby La Flora. It offers an excellent breakfast buffet with a wide variety of dishes to cater for a wide demographic of guests. There are several spacious swimming pools with an innovative design that avoids crowding. The rooms are well-furnished, modern, spacious and very comfortable. It provides a very relaxed and quiet vibe. Unlike some other resorts, your sleep will be undisturbed. The complimentary "any time" shuttle between La Vella and La Flora is very convenient. It was unfortunate that the Luxury Escapes booking agent did not spell my name correctly, resulting in problems when registering. Although I corrected this information with the hotel upon arrival, interestingly, both my name and my nationality remained incorrect on the hotel's system.

We recently stayed at La Vela Khao Lak in a Family Room on a bed-and-breakfast basis. While the resort offers a striking modern aesthetic and represents reasonably good value for money, the overall experience was unfortunately let down by inconsistent service, lackluster children's facilities, and a definite lack of attention to detail. The Positives Modern Vibe & Value: The resort itself is visually contemporary, pretty clean, and has a sleek design. For a bed-and-breakfast package, it offers quite reasonable value. Excellent Family Accommodation: Our Family Room was sizable and well-proportioned for our needs. It featured an impressively large fridge, which was incredibly useful for keeping extra drinks and snacks cold. Fresh Morning Brews: While the overall breakfast spread was just okay rather than superb, the freshly made coffee was excellent and a great start to the morning. The Negatives & Areas for Improvement 1. Disappointing Facilities for Children Traveling as a family, we were specifically looking forward to the kid-friendly amenities, but they failed to impress: Small Water Play Area: The children’s water play zone is surprisingly small and didn't offer much to keep the kids engaged. Lackluster Kids Club: The Kids Club is far from the best we have seen, lacking the engaging atmosphere and quality programming you might expect from a family-oriented resort. 2. Service Deficiencies & Comparison to Local Standards Throughout our stay, the hospitality simply felt unpolished. I am specifically comparing this to the high standard of service and generous amenities we experienced at Katathani in Kata Noi—and given that Katathani operates excellent family resorts right here in the Khao Lak area too (like The Sands), La Vela has tough local competition that it isn't quite meeting: Late Servicing & Cleanliness: Rooms were serviced very late in the day (though this did improve after I complained). On one occasion, our room door was left completely ajar by the staff after servicing. Surfaces were not wiped down properly, and some bins were left unemptied. Missing Basic Amenities: Unlike our past experiences at the benchmark resort, standard items like bathrobes were missing from the room. We had to explicitly request an iron, and the room's coffee supplies and mosquito zappers were not regularly replenished. Water Rationing: The resort only provides 4 complimentary bottles of water per day. Compared to the 8 bottles per day we received at our benchmark hotel last year, this felt incredibly stingy for a family room setup. 3. Dining and Beach Club We visited the Kokolo Beach Club for the buffet, but found it disappointing. It was incredibly busy, the food was remarkably average, and it felt heavily overpriced for the quality provided. Final Verdict La Vela Khao Lak has immense potential thanks to its modern layout and spacious family rooms. However, if you are used to the polished, high-touch hospitality and superior kids' setups found at properties like Katathani, you will likely notice the flaws here. If you don't mind advocating for your room amenities and booking your own ethical excursions, it remains a decent, high-value choice—but families expecting a top-tier kids' experience may want to look elsewhere in Khao Lak.
