La Vela Khao Lak

Great staff nice hotel although not 5* … but staff are super helpful and friendly - big shout out goes to Amp in the reception team - she was always very helpful and happy! Hotel is starting to look a bit tired in places but was not too big or busy so nice and quiet for a relaxing break! We really enjoyed our time at La Vela (travelled with 2 teenagers) and were pleased we chose this hotel instead of La Flora next door (sister hotel). Rooms were great - amazing view from our Deluxe Seaview room on the top (4th floor) - best view we’ve had in a holiday hotel!

We booked this hotel mainly for its convenient location, swimming pools and the included half board value from our booking agent Luxury Escapes. The first impression of the hotel was a bit uncertain, the entrance / reception area was underwhelming and the overall building design was unusual due to its unique architecture of triangles and geometry but once we settled in - it really warmed on us. The hotel chain is known for its unique designs. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and explained of our inclusions and the hotels features as well as being escorted to our rooms. The kids had a top floor room with views of the pool, grounds and glimpses of the beach. We enjoyed a pool access room which I can highly recommend. The pool was a great temperature so we spent a lot of time here! The breakfast buffet was very extensive with a large assortment of local, Asian and western dishes. The egg station was a highlight. I’ve never seen so many ways to present cooked eggs for breakfast. The baristas brewed the perfect latte every time. Lunch and dinner was served at the beach side restaurant and bar - Kokulo. Again, an extensive menu for both half board and À la carte. Make sure you book at least one seafood buffet night. The seafood was exceptional and the fire show, juggling cocktail mixologists and DJ topped the night and created a great party atmosphere. The spa is located in a basement area of the hotel which is very quiet and peaceful. The spa team were lovely and the treatments we had were relaxing. The gym is adequate for basic needs although one of the treadmills wasn’t working when we visited. Various activities are planned at the hotel throughout the day. Some complimentary and some require a small fee. There is a dedicated kids club and a small pool for young kids. Our teenage kids enjoyed the pool table and volleyball by the beach. The Cotton cafe was pleasant to have a quiet coffee and cake and read or just supervise your kids playing in the pool. The hotel is in a great location with easy walking to restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, clothing and convenience stores and local (touristy) market. All up a great resort with welcoming and warm hospitality in a relaxed poolside environment. Management, please thank all your wonderful staff especially the food and beverage team that made us feel so welcome.

We stayed at La Vela Khao Lak July 2026 and from the moment we got there we were made to feel completely at home. After checking in we had a minor technical issue with our room which was immediately dealt with by the staff. Not only was it rectified we were then offered an upgrade. We loved Khao Lak and would definitely visit again because of the beautiful area, the people that live there and how we were looked after at La Vela. I would like to give my heart felt thanks to all the staff at the front desk, especially to Neena, Amp, and Alex. All three of you made our trip just that little bit extra special. Also thanks to Cream in housekeeping (building C) who always made sure we had everything we needed regardless if she was cleaning our room or not. She had even prepared a small bouquet of beautiful Orchids for the table in our room, which in all my years of hotel stays this has never happened. If you're wanting stay at a hotel were you have clean rooms, professional and caring staff, great facilities and on the beach in a wonderful area then La Vela is the place to stay. My only feedback is that breakfast and room service menus could offer more vegetarian options. Thank you La Vela.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend for a short staycation from Phuket to Khao Lak, and we had a wonderful experience. It was the perfect getaway to relax and recharge. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We’d especially like to thank the lady at the front desk (I unfortunately didn’t catch her name). She was incredibly helpful, always smiling, and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The food was delicious, the facilities were well maintained, and we also booked the Thai boxing session, which was a great workout and a lot of fun. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing escape in Khao Lak. We would love to come back again!
