Moracea by Khao Lak Resort

A wonderful resort, like staying in a botanical garden, so green, so full of life...squirrels, butterflies, dragonflies, birds and lizard,all the greenery providing privacy and peace. We stayed in a villa with private pool which was spacious and super comfortable with inside and outside relaxing spaces. Breakfast and dining are excellen, but what makes it extra special is the high quality staff, who go over and above , special mention to Tex, Dining Room manager and Cindy on Reception..so pleasantly efficient in response to our needs. Stayed at many places in Thailand over the last thirty years...this place has everything. Not cheap but worth every baht. We will be back!!!

We stayed at Moracea Khao Lak Resort from July 21 to July 31 as a family of three (with our 11-year-old son), and it was a wonderful experience! Room & Amenities: We booked the Jasmine Superior Bungalow, which was fantastic. Its location couldn't be better — close to all the main resort facilities including the lobby, fitness center, pool, and beach. The dining areas and bar were just a 5-minute walk away, and it was also very close to the exit leading to Khao Lak's main street. The room was kept thoroughly clean every day with regular housekeeping (bed linen changed every 3 days). Note on deposit: Upon check-in, a deposit of $100 is required. You can pay by cash or card (even UnionPay). However, keep in mind that card holds take almost a month to release, so cash might be a more convenient option. Staff & Service: The staff at Moracea are absolutely wonderful, friendly, and welcoming. We were greeted warmly with fresh flowers and a welcome drink. Although our room wasn't ready immediately upon arrival, we only had to wait until 1:00 PM to check in. A special shout-out to Kevin, Nat, and Fon from the restaurant team — thank you for being so attentive, caring, and professional! Warm greetings and best wishes to you from Stanislava and Alexander! Big thanks to Arm and Cindy at the lobby desk for their great assistance and for accommodating all our requests prior to check-out. The housekeeping team was also lovely and attentive throughout our stay. Dining: We opted for half-board (breakfast & dinner): Breakfast: Great variety ranging from classic fried eggs to traditional Thai dishes. Although the spread remains fairly similar day to day, the custom Thai noodle soup station is fantastic (you select your noodles and ingredients, then add your choice of vinegar, chili, and fish sauce). Fresh fruits like watermelon, pineapple, and occasionally papaya were always available, along with juices, lemonade, water, tea, and coffee. Lunch/Dinner: Operates on a set 3-course menu (starter, main, and dessert). The quality of the food was consistently high and delicious. Drinks are charged separately and are quite expensive compared to local spots outside the resort. Grounds, Pools & Activities: The resort grounds are beautifully maintained, lush, and green — it really feels like living in a peaceful tropical jungle. We loved seeing local wildlife like birds, small geckos, and even a harmless monitor lizard. The atmosphere is very relaxed and tranquil, with no noisy events. Yet, there are plenty of optional activities like meditation, palm leaf folding workshops, and yoga. In the evenings, they hosted live music, traditional Thai dance shows, and fire performances. There are several pools to choose from, ranging from shallow areas to a deeper, stunning pool next to the Cocos Bar. The jacuzzi features in the pools were a nice touch! Beach & Location: The beach right in front of the resort is long and spacious, featuring both sandy entry areas and scenic boulders that make for great photos. You can also easily walk to the Lighthouse Beach nearby, which offers a gentler slope and safer swimming during bigger waves. The location is ideal: Walking distance: Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, as well as the main street packed with restaurants, massage parlors, shops, 7-Eleven, and McDonald's. Short rides: A songthaew (taxi) costs around 200 THB to Bang Niang Night Market (a huge selection of souvenirs, street food, clothes, plus a Starbucks and lots of eateries nearby). For 300–400 THB, you can reach Memories Beach (great surf spot with Salt Surf school and a beach café) or Coconut Beach for calmer sea conditions. Overall, Moracea is a top-notch resort that everyone should visit at least once. With its unbeatable location, breathtaking green grounds, excellent facilities, and exceptional staff, it gave us a truly memorable vacation. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A beautiful resort, in a beautiful setting. Fantastic atmosphere, amazing sea, quiet environment and great hardworking staff. Sometimes I felt like they didn't even go home to sleep. They were helpful, smiling and kind. They do everything to make the guest happy. We will always recommend this resort. It is wonderfully thought out. On the shore, in nature and in silence. We had privacy in a beautiful bungalow in a beautiful setting. There was a chance to hide in the shade everywhere. We live in Slovakia in Europe, so it is far away for us. But even despite the distance, we will recommend your resort. If our health allows, we will definitely return to you. We were very satisfied and thank you very much for the unforgettable moments!

this hotel would of got 5 stars if it didn't let non staff members come into the hotel to do welcome meetings, giving customers the opinion that they worked here. after booking excursions and my son getting very sick so we couldn't go, the lady who had sold herself as our rep for the hotel would not refund us any of the money or move the trip to another day when my son was better. now i got that of my chest this hotel, the room was lovely when i walked in i was blown away. how ever although my sons bed was comfy mine was not and was very hard which was a let down to the stunning room. the food was also so nice, and the drinks were also made to look very fancy with fresh fruit and cream etc. the staff were brilliant and so polite and helpful just what you want. the pools were stunning to, but not very many sun loungers as this was low season we were ok but if busier i think you would never get one unless you got up dead early. we didn't try the spa, but one thing the staff should tell you is there is a lovely little gym and pool table room under neath reception, we didn't know and only saw it on our last day as the showers are there after you have to leave your room, so you can freshen up. there is also a separate air con lounge for people who are waiting to be picked up and has plugs to charge things and comfy seats, we found this very useful. there is a lovely beach, but the sea looked very rough and red flags were up which i thought meant no swimming but people were still swimming or almost getting drowned it looked like. i would deffo stay here again although i was told all the hotels are lovely along here so might try another. restaurants outside the hotel, there are plenty the golden elephant is lovely, we also tried the Italian further up past the 7/ 11

We have just returned from 14nights, and wow- what a fabulous time we’ve had! We stayed in 2 bungalows- 2 adults, 2 teenagers, bungalows 209 & 210. They were stunning rooms, with a pool and partial sea view. A great spot! The hotel was just perfect, fabulous breakfast, super friendly staff who just could not do enough for us across the whole stay. It’s currently low season but we were so lucky with the weather, a few rainy spells meant my daughter and I made use of the beautiful spa and some wonderful treatments. Overall we’ve had the best holiday, and we will be returning! Thank you to all the staff- this place is a little bit of paradise. Xx
